Congratulations! You have just purchased the finest Air Induction & Filtration system for your car at any price! The AEM Brute Force Intake System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. It is the most advanced short pipe air intake system on the market. Each system is specifically engineered for its particular application. All AEM Brute Force Intake Systems deliver maximum performance gains through the lightweight, all-aluminum, mandrel-bent tubing that is tuned in both length and diameter. The tube length and diameter are matched for each specific engine to give power over a broad RPM range. Every intake is coated with a high-gloss, heatreducing Zirconia based powder coating. This special blend of powder coating helps reduce heat penetration, which in turn reduces the temperature of the inlet air charge. The cooler inlet air temperature translates to more power during the combustion process because cool air is denser than warm air. The air mass flow to the engine is increased because of the increased airflow and reduced inlet temperature, which translates to more power. Note: This inlet pipe kit requires the removal and reinstallation of emissions related components. If you are not familiar with the installation and/or the operation of these components then please refer this installation to a qualified professional. 1) Getting started a) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface. b) Set parking brake. c) Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio. d) Disconnect negative battery terminal. e) If engine has run within the past two hours let it cool down. 2) Removing the stock air inlet system a) Before removing any of the O.E. components, label each individual part so that no components become mixed up during the installation process. b) Remove the plastic engine dress up cover by rotating the three retaining clips 90 degrees counterclockwise and lifting the cover off the engine. Air Box c) Remove the plastic intake air duct by removing the three plastic retaining clips. Be sure not to lose or damage any of these parts as they will be reinstalled. d) Remove the rear mounting bolt holding the stock air box in place. 3

Breather Hose Hose Clamp e) Unclip the wiring harness from the inlet air hose f) Loosen the hose clamp on the throttle body. Remove the valve cover breather hose from the air inlet pipe by compressing the flanges on the retaining clip and sliding the hose out. Slide Battery Remove g) Remove the remaining bolt securing the air box to the chassis. Gently remove the air box from the vehicle by lifting it straight up off the lower inlet tube. h) Remove the two bolts securing the lower inlet tube to the truck body. In order to remove the tube, loosen the battery hold down brackets and slide the battery forward for clearance. Once inlet tube is removed, move the battery back to its original location and secure. 4

Slide spring clamps up out of the way i) Drain approximately 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator into the proper clean container. Do not throw the coolant away because it will be used again later. The next step will be to remove the metal tubing loom, which will include the breather hose, coolant hose and a bracket holding the TBM wire harness. Make sure to note proper hose routing. (Place a rag under the loom, as coolant will leak from the lower hose). j). Closer view of tubing loom routing. Use pliers to slide the spring clamps over the breather and coolant hoses. A flat-head screwdriver may be needed to pry the hoses off the coolant line nipples. k) Remove the short rubber hose attached to the valve cover breather nipple. l) Stock intake removed 5

3) Installing the AEM BFS Intake a) Install the provided 5/16 hose where the factory coolant line was removed. Use the supplied 3/4 hose clamps to secure the hose. b) Check to see that the inside of the AEM Brute Force inlet pipe and air filter are clean and free from any foreign objects and/or obstructions. Install the supplied push in zip tie in the bracket as shown. c) Install the rubber mount where the lower inlet tube was previously removed.. d) Install the silicone reinforced adapter over the throttle body and secure using a # 48 hose clamp. 6

e) Install the AEM Brute Force intake pipe into the previously installed coupler. f) Guide the bracket on the intake pipe over the stud on the rubber mount. Once aligned, install the supplied washer and nylok nut onto the stud. Do not tighten until fitment is complete. g) Install the AEM BFS filter on to the end of the inlet tube. Push the filter over the inlet pipe until the stop in the filter is reached and install one hose clamp to secure the filter onto the inlet pipe. h) Install the supplied ½ breather hose between the intake pipe and the valve cover as shown. Use the supplied 1 hose clamps to secure. Secure the TBM wire harness to the valve cover breather hose using the supplied zip tie. i) Secure the battery wiring harness to the intake pipe using the previously installed zip tie. j) Reinstall the stock air inlet duct using the three plastic connectors previously removed. 7

Before After 4) Re-assemble the vehicle a) Inspect the engine bay for any loose tools and check that all fasteners that were moved or removed are properly tight. b) Reinstall the coolant drained from the radiator in step 2 i) of the stock intake removal. c) Check that the filter is not touching any part of the vehicle. Position the AEM BFS intake for best fitment and tighten all hose clamps. Be sure that the pipe or any other component is not in contact with any part of the vehicle. Tighten the nut on the mounting bracket. Re-adjust pipe if necessary. d) Reconnect the battery cables to the battery (always connect positive first). e) Start the vehicle and check for proper operation of all the components that were removed.
