2 Congratulations! You have just purchased the finest Air Induction & Filtration system for your car at any price! The AEM Performance Air Induction System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. It is the most advanced short pipe air intake system on the market. Each system is specifically engineered for its particular application. All AEM Brute Force Intake Systems deliver maximum performance gains through lightweight, all-aluminum, mandrel-bent tubing that is tuned in both length and diameter. The tube length and diameter are matched for each specific engine to give power over a broad RPM range. Unlike plastic systems that use a continually diverging cross-section, we take advantage of the acoustical energy in the inlet duct to promote cylinder filling during the intake valve opening event. Every intake is coated with a high-gloss, heat-reducing Zirconia based powder coating. This special blend of powder coating helps reduce heat penetration, which in turn reduces the temperature of the inlet air charge. The cooler inlet air temperature translates to more power during the combustion process because cool air is denser than warm air. The air mass flow to the engine is increased because of the increased airflow and reduced inlet temperature, which translates to more power.. 3 1) Getting Started a) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface. b) Set parking brake. c) Disconnect negative battery terminal. d) If engine has run within the past two hours let it cool down. 2) Removing the stock air inlet system Detach both lines. Loosen hose clamp a) Loosen the hose clamp on the intake tube on the throttle body. b) Detach the IAC line and the PCV line from the intake tube. Disconnect here. Loosen bolt and remove assembly Loosen c) Disconnect MAF and IAT sensor connectors. Loosen hose clamp and remove inlet air intake tube. d) Loosen bolt and remove air filter assembly with MAF sensor. 3

4 Release latch and remove assembly. Loosen and remove the bolt on each corner of the MAF sensor. e) Release latch and remove the air filter element and housing. f) Loosen and remove the 4 bolts retaining the MAF sensor. Remove MAF sensor. The screen will not be reused. 3) Installation of the AEM Brute Force Intake System. When installing the Brute Force Intake System, DO NOT completely tighten the hose clamps or mounting tab hardware until instructed to do so later in these instructions. a) Attach reducer coupler and hose clamps. Do not completely tighten. b) Insert inlet pipe into coupler. Do not completely tighten hose clamp. 4

5 Attach and secure with hose clamps c) Attach the provided 5/8 hose for the IAC and secure with provided hose clamps. d) Attach provided 3/4 breather hose for the PCV and secure with provided hose clamps. e) Assemble Air horn/maf sensor adapter to bracket and MAF sensor as shown. Install the provided gasket between the MAF sensor and AEM air horn. The bracket will be on the opposite side of the MAF sensor wiring harness plug. The bracket should point in the same direction as the airflow arrow marked on the MAF sensor. Tighten bolts to 55 in-lb. 5

6 Loosen. Attach coupler and hose clamps. Bolt location on other models. f) Attach coupler and hose clamps. Do not completely tighten. g) Loosen bolt but do not remove. On models without individual coils loosen and remove bolt. Attach here. Insert bolt h) Attach bracket as shown with provided bolt. The slot on the bracket should be between the washer and the stock bracket. i) Attach the coupler to the inlet pipe. Plug in the MAF sensor harness. Stop here if you do not have an external IAT sensor. Attach the filter and push-in filter plug. Your installation is complete. 6

7 j) Locate the IAT sensor harness. Cut 3 down from the sensor to allow enough wire for crimping. k) Strip off the wire loom from the sensor. l) Strip a ¾ section off each end and attach the male bullet connector. Crimp carefully. For best results crimp at the seam. 7

8 m) Heat each end of the connectors from prior step until heat shrink is secure around the wire. n) Cut back about 2 of wire loom on the remaining IAT harness. Be careful not to cut the wires. 8

9 o) Strip off a ¾ section from each end and attach the 2 female end butt-connectors. Crimp and apply heat to each. p) Match the solid gray wire from the IAT sensor female end and attach the solid gray wire male end connector. Do the same with the gray/red wire. q) Connect the lengthened IAT to the female ends on the harness. r) Apply heat. Your supplied harness should look like this. 9

10 s) Insert IAT into filter end and attach to air horn. Your kit should look similar to this. 4) Re-Assemble the vehicle. a) Inspect the engine bay for any loose tools and check that all fasteners that were moved or removed are properly tight. b) Reconnect negative battery terminal. c) Check for clearance on the inlet pipe, bracket and filter. Secure all hose clamps. d) Start engine. Let car idle for 3 minutes. Perform a final inspection before driving the vehicle. For Technical Inquiries Us at tech@aempower.com 10
