THE QUANTITY OF EACH PART HAS BEEN REVISED. EACH VEHICLE WILL REQUIRE 2 OF EACH PART NUMBER. DESCRIPTION: This bulletin describes the procedure to replace the rear hub bearings on certain 2007-2009 4WD Santa Fe (CM) vehicles. The procedure includes installation instructions for dust covers included in the replacement hub bearing kit. Technical Service Bulletin Group Number CHASSIS 10-SS-004 SERVICE PROCEDURE: 1. Release the parking brake. 2. Remove the left rear wheel and tire assembly by removing the lug nuts (A). NOTE: Tightening torque: 9~11 kgf.m (88.3~107.8 Nm, 65.1~79.5 lbf.ft) NOTE: Remove lug nuts with a 21mm socket (Nylon coated socket recommended) 3. Remove the caliper assembly by removing the mounting bolts (B). Place the removed caliper assembly aside. Use care to prevent damage to the brake hose. NOTE: Tightening torque: 6.5~7.5 kgf.m (63.8~73.4 Nm, 47.0~54.2 lbf.ft) Page 3 of 8
4. Remove the split pin (C) from the castle nut. NOTE: Do not re-use cotter pin. 5. Remove the castle nut and washer (D). NOTE: Tightening torque: 20-26 kgf.m (196.2 ~ 254.9 N.m, 144.7~188.0 lbf.ft) 6. Remove the brake disc by removing both screws (E). Page 4 of 8
Technical Service Bulletin Group Number CHASSIS 10-SS-004 7. Support the rear lower arm with a jack and remove the rear lower arm mounting bolt (F) (outer end). NOTE: Tightening torque: 14~16 kgf.m (137.3~156.9 N.m, 101.3~115.7 lbf.ft) 8. Remove the rear shock upper mounting bolt (G). NOTE: Tightening torque: 14~16 kgf.m (137.3~156.9 N.m, 101.3~115.7 lbf.ft) 9. Remove the rear shock lower mounting nut (H) and then remove the rear shock assembly. NOTE: Tightening torque: 10~12 kgf.m (98.1~117.6 N.m, 72.4~86.7 lbf.ft) Page 5 of 8
10. Remove the trailing arm mounting bolt (I). NOTE: Tightening torque: 14~16 kgf.m (137.3~156.9 N.m, 101.3~115.7 lbf.ft) 11. Remove the 4 rear axle carrier hub mounting bolts (J). NOTE: Tightening torque: 8~9 kgf.m (78.5~88.2 Nm, 57.9~65.0 lbf.ft) 12. Remove the rear hub assembly. Page 6 of 8
Technical Service Bulletin Group Number CHASSIS 10-SS-004 13. Insert the axle shaft into the dust cover supplied in the kit with the raised round of the dust cover outward. 14. Set the dust cover and the parking brake lining in position. Page 7 of 8
15. Install the new hub bearing supplied in the kit and all the removed components in reverse order of removal. NOTE: This photo shows the new hub bearing is installed. Caution during installation: The washer (D) should be assembled with convex surface outward when installing the castle nut and split pin. 16. Apply all the above procedures to the other side.
