Before you start! The harness is one-piece construction with the fuse block. If the PCM/fuse block are to be mounted inside the cabin, the harness must be front-fed through the firewall, harness connectors first.
Power Connections PLEASE COMPLETE THIS STEP AFTER THE HARNESS HAS BEEN FULLY INSTALLED. Please connect the Positive Battery able as illustrated in the picture. Battery positive Terminal should be run to the Starter Positive terminal on the solenoid. You may choose to run the wire through a distribution block, to be able to power other items in the car (or fuse box). _ Power Distribution Block Body Fuse Block
Ground Connections Please ensure the battery is properly grounded to the body of the car. Clean of paint and is not longer than 20 inches. Also, the engine block must be grounded to the body of the car in a similar fashion. We recommend using wire no smaller than 4 AWG for any grounds for battery or chassis. Connection to the block. Make sure its clean of paint. _ Car Body Connection

Identifying Your Harness Plugs Notice how your harness branches off into two different directions in the center. This separates the wires designated for the Bank 1 side and Bank 2 side. Bank 1 is on the US driver s side and has the Alternator, throttle body and MAFS wiring Bank 2 is on the US passenger side and has the starter and FANs branches
Identifying Your Harness Plugs On each side of the harness there are four black two-pin plugs with spring clips. These are the plugs for your injectors.

Alternator Connection Alternator charge cable is built into the main harness and should be connected to the POSITIVE stud on the alternator (back side). Install the Alternator connector in the slot. This connector has 1 wire for regulator sense (connectors to the dash Battery light the light MUST be functional).

Oil & Coolant Sensor Connections Oil Pressure Sensor Coolant To Gauges The coolant and oil pressure sensors mount in the locations labeled above. There is no wiring in the harness for these two sensors since aftermarket gauges should be supplied with their respective wiring. These sensors do NOT supply the PCM with any vital information and are just used for gauges.
T56 Transmission Plug Locations NOTE: The WS harness DOES NOT contain the Skip shift solenoid connector. To Backup Light Switch(back side) If the swap is utilizing other popular transmissions (ZF series or CD009, T5 or more) Wiring Specialties will USUALLY provide the proper REVERSE switch connector and leave the LS speed sensor connector on the harness for possible use with external speed sensors. Keep in mind that MOST newer transmissions do NOT have a speed sensor and a GPS or reluctor sensors should be used. Auto Transmission Relay The Starter relay is present to ensure the engine is not started when in gear. We have 2 versions of this wiring Pin 85 on the relay will have either an Orange/Black wire or a Green/Red wire. In order for the relay to enable the starter and crank the engine: The Orange/Black wire MUST be connected to GROUND. or The Green/Red wire MUST be connected to 12v POWER. We recommend connecting this wire to the Park/Neutral switch on the gear selector. 87 Black 86 85 Pink 30 Black Orange/Black Or Green/Red 30 Black Starter signal OUT 86 Pink Switched Power from harness 85 Orange/Black Ground signal from Park/Neutral switch or 85 Green/Red 12v power from Park/Neutral switch 87 Black Starter signal IN

A/C Wiring Details A GM refrigerant pressure sensor has to be installed in the HIGH pressure AC line for the PCM to monitor AC parameters. Run the wire to the Sensor, connect the GROUND next to the compressor (on Bank2 head) and connect the black connector to the WS main harness. The PCM will control the operation of the AC system, with active OEM safety features. Flying leads Ignition - Pink wire This wire connects to the IGNITION SWITCH. Should see 12V in IGNITION position. Tach White wire Engine RPM output from PCM pin 10 RED PCM CEL - Brown/White wire Check engine light or MIL. Duplicated wire from the light bulb attached to the OBD2 connector. This is an output from PIN 6 on RED PCM and will go to ground when CEL is turned ON. Reverse Blue + Green wire both wires go to the reverse switch connector on the transmission. Should be wired into the reverse light circuit on the body of the car. Start Signal - Black wire This wire connects to the IGNITION SWITCH. Should see 12V in CRANK position. Alternator - Brown wire This wire is duplicated to RED PCM pin 15. The LS1 alternator is regulated by the PCM or by a Dash Alternator light. IF YOU CHOOSE TO RUN THIS WIRE TO THE DASH LIGHT, YOU MUST CUT THE WIRE AT PIN 15 on the RED PCM to prevent backfeed to the PCM. Speedometer Green/White wire Digital Speed signal output from PIN 50 on RED PCM. Can be connected to the tachometer and calibrated in the PCM for different outputs. Fuel Pump - Green wire FP is driven by the PCM. When IGNITION is ON, the RED PCM PIN 9 will trigger the relay. Run the GREEN wire directly to the Fuel Pump POSITIVE terminal. ALL PUMPS will require addition of the ground wire to complete the circuit. AC Switch - Yellow/Black wire When wire is supplied with 12V signal, the AC request signal is supplied to PCM PIN 17 on the RED PCM. As long as AC parameters are met in the EFI system, the PCM will energize the AC relay in the Fuse Box. PIN 43 On RED PCM (ac clutch).

Troubleshooting Ideas Alternator NOT charging alternator excite wire is hooked up to the DASH battery light on the cluster. If the stock cluster is not in use or the battery charge indicator is not functional. The alternator will not charge. In this case the sense wire must be run to the PCM. Pin 15 on the RED PCM is the proper charge pin. How do the fans work the fans are controlled by the PCM. They turn on when the set coolant temperature is reached. These values are set during PCM programming. Wiring Specialties sets these to 185 and 195 Degreed F for Fan 1 and Fan 2 respectively. Fans can also be set to turn on with AC. Engine starts an stalls after 2 seconds VATS still active or fuel lines are reversed. Reflash the PCM or fix the lines.
