EXHAUST SET POINT ADJUSTMENT The exhaust set pint will determine when the exhaust fan runs based n damper psitin (if pwer exhaust is installed). The set pint is mdified with the Exhaust Fan Set Pint (EXH SET) ptentimeter. The set pint represents the damper psitin abve which the exhaust fans will be turned n. When there is a call fr exhaust, the cntrller prvides a 45 ± 15 secnd delay befre exhaust fan activatin t allw the dampers t pen. This delay allws the damper t reach the apprpriate psitin t avid unnecessary fan verlad. MINIMUM POSITION CONTROL There is a minimum damper psitin ptentimeter n the cntrller. See Fig. 14. The minimum damper psitin maintains the minimum airflw int the building during the ccupied perid. When using demand ventilatin, the minimum damper psitin represents the minimum ventilatin psitin fr VOC (vlatile rganic cmpund) ventilatin requirements. The maximum demand ventilatin psitin is used fr fully ccupied ventilatin. When demand ventilatin cntrl is nt being used, the minimum psitin ptentimeter shuld be used t set the ccupied ventilatin psitin. The maximum demand ventilatin psitin shuld be turned fully clckwise. Adjust the minimum psitin ptentimeter t allw the minimum amunt f utdr air, as required by lcal cdes, t enter the building. Make minimum psitin adjustments with at least 10 F (5.5 C) temperature difference between the utdr and return-air temperatures. T determine the minimum psitin setting, perfrm the fllwing prcedure: 1. Calculate the apprpriate mixed air temperature using the fllwing frmula: (T x OA/100) + (T R x RA/100) = T M T O = Outdr-Air Temperature OA = Percent f Outdr Air T R = Return-Air Temperature RA = Percent f Return Air T M = Mixed-Air Temperature As an example, if lcal cdes require 10% utdr air during ccupied cnditins, utdr-air temperature is 60 F (15.6 C), and return-air temperature is 75 F (23.9 C). (60 x.10) + (75 x.90) = 73.5 F (23.1 C) 2. Discnnect the supply air sensr frm terminals T and T1. 3. Ensure that the factry-installed jumper is in place acrss terminals P and P1. If remte damper psitining is being used, make sure that the terminals are wired accrding t Fig. 9 and that the minimum psitin ptentimeter is turned fully clckwise. 4. Cnnect 24 vac acrss terminals TR and TR1. 5. Carefully adjust the minimum psitin ptentimeter until the measured mixed-air temperature matches the calculated value. 6. Recnnect the supply air sensr t terminals T and T1. Remte cntrl f the damper is desirable when requiring additinal temprary ventilatin. If a field-supplied remte ptentimeter (Hneywell part number S963B1128) is wired t the cntrller, the minimum psitin f the damper can be cntrlled frm a remte lcatin. T cntrl the minimum damper psitin remtely, remve the factryinstalled jumper n the P and P1 terminals n the cntrller. Wire the field-supplied ptentimeter t the P and P1 terminals n the cntrller. DAMPER MOVEMENT Damper mvement frm full pen t full clsed (r vice versa) takes 2 1/2 minutes. THERMOSTATS The cntrl wrks with cnventinal thermstats that have a Y1 (cl stage 1), Y2 (cl stage 2), W1 (heat stage 1), W2 (heat stage 2), and G (fan). The cntrl des nt supprt space temperature sensrs. Cnnectins are made at the thermstat terminal cnnectin bard lcated in the main cntrl bx. OCCUPANCY CONTROL The factry default cnfiguratin fr the cntrl is ccupied mde. Occupied status is prvided by the black jumper frm terminal TR t terminal N. When unccupied mde is desired, install a field supplied timeclck functin in place f the jumper between TR and N. When the timeclck cntacts are clsed, the cntrl will be in ccupied mde. When the timeclck cntacts are pen (remving the 24-v signal frm terminal N), the IV will be in unccupied mde. DEMAND CONTROLLED VENTILATION (DCV) When using the fr demand cntrlled ventilatin, there are sme equipment selectin criteria which shuld be cnsidered. When selecting the heat capacity and cl capacity f the equipment, the maximum ventilatin rate must be evaluated fr design cnditins. The maximum damper psitin must be calculated t prvide the desired fresh air. Typically the maximum ventilatin rate will be abut 5 t 10% mre than the typical cfm required per persn, using nrmal utside air design criteria. An expnential anticipatry strategy shuld be taken with the fllwing cnditins: a zne with a large area, varied ccupancy, and equipment that cannt exceed the required ventilatin rate at design cnditins. Exceeding the required ventilatin rate means the equipment can cnditin air at a maximum ventilatin rate that is greater than the required ventilatin rate fr maximum ccupancy. An expnential-anticipatry strategy will cause the fresh air supplied t increase as the rm CO2 level increases even thugh the CO 2 set pint has nt been reached. By the time the CO 2 level reaches the set pint, the damper will be at maximum ventilatin and shuld maintain the set pint. In rder t have the CO 2 sensr cntrl the ecnmizer damper in this manner, first determine the damper vltage utput fr minimum r base ventilatin. Base ventilatin is the ventilatin required t remve cntaminants during unccupied perids. The fllwing equatin may be used t determine the percent f utside-air entering the building fr a given damper psitin. Fr best results there shuld be at least a 10 F (5.5 C) difference in utside and return-air temperatures. (T x OA/100) + (T R x RA/100) = T M T O = Outdr-Air Temperature OA = Percent f Outdr Air T R = Return-Air Temperature RA = Percent f Return Air T M = Mixed-Air Temperature Once base ventilatin has been determined, set the minimum damper psitin ptentimeter t the crrect psitin. The same equatin can be used t determine the ccupied r maximum ventilatin rate t the building. Fr example, an utput f 3.6 vlts t the actuatr prvides a base ventilatin rate f 5% and an utput f 6.7 vlts prvides the maximum ventilatin rate f 20% (r base plus 15 cfm per persn). Use Fig. 16 t determine the maximum setting f the CO 2 sensr. Fr example, a 1100 ppm set pint relates t a 15 cfm per persn design. Use the 1100 ppm curve n Fig. 19 t find the pint when the CO 2 sensr utput will be 6.7 vlts. Line up the pint n the graph with the left side f the chart t determine that the range cnfiguratin fr the CO 2 sensr shuld be 1800 ppm. The cntrller will utput the 6.7 vlts frm the CO 2 sensr t the actuatr when the CO 2 cncentratin in the space is at 1100 ppm. 9

The DCV set pint may be left at 2 vlts since the CO 2 sensr vltage will be ignred by the cntrller until it rises abve the 3.6 vlt setting f the minimum psitin ptentimeter. Once the fully ccupied damper psitin has been determined, set the maximum damper demand cntrl ventilatin ptentimeter t this psitin. D nt set t the maximum psitin as this can result in verventilatin t the space and ptential high-humidity levels. CO2 SENSOR CONFIGURATION The CO 2 sensr has preset standard vltage settings that can be selected anytime after the sensr is pwered up. See Table 5. Use setting 1 r 2 fr equipment. See Table 5. 1. Press Clear and Mde buttns. Hld at least 5 secnds until the sensr enters the Edit mde. 2. Press Mde twice. The STDSET Menu will appear. 3. Use the Up/Dwn buttn t select the preset number. See Table 5. 4. Press Enter t lck in the selectin. 5. Press Mde t exit and resume nrmal peratin. The custm settings f the CO 2 sensr can be changed anytime after the sensr is energized. Fllw the steps belw t change the nn-standard settings: 1. Press Clear and Mde buttns. Hld at least 5 secnds until the sensr enters the Edit mde. 2. Press Mde twice. The STDSET Menu will appear. 3. Use the Up/Dwn buttn t tggle t the NONSTD menu and press Enter. 4. Use the Up/Dwn buttn t tggle thrugh each f the nine variables, starting with Altitude, until the desired setting is reached. 5. PressMde t mve thrugh the variables. 6. Press Enter t lck in the selectin, then press Mde t cntinue t the next variable. DEHUMIDIFICATION OF FRESH AIR WITH DCV CONTROL Infrmatin frm ASHRAE indicates that the largest humidity lad n any zne is the fresh air intrduced. Fr sme applicatins, an energy recvery unit can be added t reduce the misture cntent f the fresh air being brught int the building when the enthalpy is high. In mst cases, the nrmal heating and cling prcesses are mre than adequate t remve the humidity lads fr mst cmmercial applicatins. If nrmal rftp heating and cling peratin is nt adequate fr the utdr humidity level, an energy recvery unit and/r a dehumidificatin ptin shuld be cnsidered. OPERATION Sequence f Operatin When free cling is nt available, the cmpressr will be cntrlled by the thermstat. When free cling is available, the utdr-air damper is mdulated by the cntrl t prvide a 50 t 55 F (10 t 12.8 C) supply-air temperature int the zne. As the supply-air temperature fluctuates abve 55 F(12.8 C) r belw 50 F (10 C), the dampers will be mdulated (pen r clse) t bring the supply-air temperature back within the set pints. Fr peratin, there must be a thermstat call fr the fan (G). This will mve the damper t its minimum psitin during the ccupied mde. Abve 50 F (10 C) supply-air temperature, the dampers will mdulate frm 100% pen t the minimum pen psitin. Frm 50 F (10 C) t 45 F (7.2 C) supply-air temperature, the dampers will maintain at the minimum pen psitin. Belw 45 F (7.2 C), the dampers will be cmpletely shut. As the supply-air temperature rises, the dampers will cme back pen t the minimum pen psitin nce the supply-air temperature rises t 48 F (8.9 C). If pwer exhaust is installed, as the utdr-air damper pens and clses, the pwer exhaust fans will be energized and deenergized. If field-installed accessry CO 2 sensrs are cnnected t the cntrl, a demand cntrlled ventilatin strategy will begin t perate. As the CO 2 level in the zne increases abve the CO 2 set pint, the minimum psitin f the damper will be increased prprtinally. As the CO 2 level decreases because f the increase in fresh air, the utdr-air damper will be prprtinally clsed. Damper psitin will fllw the higher demand cnditin frm DCV mde r free cling mde. Damper mvement frm full clsed t full pen (r vice versa) will take between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 minutes. If free cling can be used as determined frm the apprpriate changever cmmand (switch, dry bulb, enthalpy curve, differential dry bulb, r differential enthalpy), a call fr cling (Y1 clses at the thermstat) will cause the cntrl t mdulate the dampers pen t maintain the supply air temperature set pint at 50 t 55 F (10 t 12.8 C). As the supply air temperature drps belw the set pint range f 50 t 55 F (10 t 12.8 C), the cntrl will mdulate the utdr-air dampers clsed t maintain the prper supply-air temperature.
