This is always a delightfully interesting place to spend a few hours. One can t help but conjure up visions of what if! It s also impossible to tour this facility and not realize that Jim is much more of an artist than a body man. Seeing his work in the raw makes you appreciate the little details that goes into making just a car into a rolling masterpiece. It also makes you realize how much work really goes into a quality restoration project. We began the meeting by recognizing Angela Winton s birthday. She brought her always delightful potato salad to help make our dinner just right! Hmmm, seems like I ve seen this car before! 2
Gary went through a review of upcoming events then introduced Valerie Scott of the Rocky Mountain Jaguar Club for a presentation of details of their upcoming Concours d Elegance scheduled for July 15, 16 and 17 in Monument. Then it was off to the back room to look at all the delightful projects!. It was an entirely satisfying evening among true classic automobiles. Upcoming Events June 4 is the First Saturday s Car Show. This is not a JCSC event (in June anyway) but it s a fun place to spend an EARLY Saturday morning looking at other great cars. Catnip In a May 6, 2011 news conference in London, Jaguar Cars announced they would begin production of the C-X75 hybrid supercar for delivery in 2013. Jaguar spokesman Adrian Hallmark announced they would team with Britain based Williams F-1 Racing, utilizing their extensive experience in advanced internal combustion powertrains, composite structures, aerodynamics and low volume/high speed production techniques to produce around 250 C-X75 supercars between 2013 and 2015. Williams F1, owned and directed by Sir Frank Williams, will produce handcrafted carbon fiber tubs and alloy suspensions and frameworks in it s Didcot Headquarters in England. These tubs will be shipped to Jaguar for final trim, painting and assembly. Power will likely be from a Williams developed internal combustion 4 cylinder, 1.6 liter engine similar to the engine destined for use in the 2013 season F1 Williams racing cars. The blown engine, coupled with the electric motors originally developed for the concept version of the C-X75 is expected to produce a combined engine/electric motor output of over 775 horsepower. Performance of the completed cars is expected to be very close to that of the concept version utilizing gas turbine engines. Jaguar announced they are continuing research into turbine engine technology for utilization in future Jaguar products. To assure true supercar status for the C-X75, prices are expected to run between 700,000 and 900,000 Pounds Sterling or around $1.1 million dollars U.S. More interesting little E-Type tidbit!s: It seems that Enzo Ferrari was quoted as saying that the E-Type Jaguar was the most beautiful car ever made. Quite a complement coming from him! When introduced, the E-Type was priced around 2,000 pounds Sterling. A wage-indexed equivalent puts that right around $96,900.00 today. A current production XK coupe starts at $83,000.00. A total of more than 70,000 E-Types were sold before Jaguar ceased production. 4
