Also, the tank lid included in this kit is made of,a stronger material than the original lid to provide greater durability. Shield the area and the operator from splashed material before triggering the gun to relieve hydraulic pressure. WARNING: Bums can result from accidental discharge of hot melt material from handguns. If handguns are being usebd, place each handgun trigger lock in the LOCKED position. INSTALLATION 1. Allow the hot melt material to heat to application temperature. 2. (Piston Pump units only) Set the pump or regulator to zero and shut off a valve upstream of the regulator in the air supply line. 3. (Gear Pump units only) Push the motor start/stop switch (Figure 2) to the OFF position. 4. (Gear Pump units with DC drive only) Turn the motor speed dial to 0% (Figure 2). Flip the applicator circuit breaker to the OFF position (Figure 4). 9. Open the plastic tank lid and leave it in the open position (as shown in Figure 1). 10. Allow the applicator and lhot melt material to cool completely. Compress the lid spring by pushing the collar (Figure 5, Detail A) or the E-clip (Figure 5, Detail B) toward hinge rod end A (Figure 6, View A).. Lift hinge rod end B slightly (Figure 6, View B) until the torsion spring leg slips out of the hole in the lid support (Figure 7). Replace the old tank lid by doing the following: a. Place a screwdriver between the inner lid assembly and the tank lid (Figure 8 ). b. Use the screwdriver to pry one end of the inner lid from the tank lid (Figure 8). c, Repeat steps a and b on the other end of the inner lid. (Units with hinge rod E-clip only) Use pliers to grasp the E-clip (Figure 5, Detail B). Pull the clip out of its groove. f. Being careful not to drop the two hinge springs, slide the hinge rod out of the inner lid ;and the plastic tank lid. fz- Keep the inner lid and discard the old plastic tank lid. Install the top and inner lid assembly to the applicator by reversing the procedure in step 11. 14. Close the tank lid. 15.
