SEPTEMBER Fertilize athletic fields Six-month asbestos inspection & service Drag and roll baseball/softball fields once per week Inspect all bleachers for safety Prepare all boilers in system for heating season Check treatment level and all safety devices for correct position Check sump pumps throughout district Change HVAC filters
OCTOBER Sump pump maintenance: check operation, clean and grease Boiler start-up & check operation of all controls Semi-annual check of emergency & exit lights Change diesel fuel to winter blend
NOVEMBER Take off mower decks (sharpen blades & check for damage to be repaired) Install snow blades & chains Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary Prepare scoreboards ready for basketball Prepare baseball field for winter & spring use Close football stadium for winter (if football season is over) Aerate football field: go over field at least 4 times & apply fertilizer/weed preventer Store walk-behind mowers: (sharpen blades & check for damage) Winterize trucks, tractors, and vans
DECEMBER Monthly check of stadium for vandalism etc. Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary Monitor boiler operation and evaluation Mower repair (if necessary) Six-month asbestos inspection & service Winter break: maintenance work that could not be completed while school is in session
