6/18/2006 Head of the Lakes Corvair Association Newsletter Hot Air GMAC 2006 Sunday June 11 a few members Made the annual journey to the GMAC show in St Paul. We met up at Thompson Hill at 7am and off we went. The trip was a great trip all the way down and back. No car troubles at all for any cars other than Art Bringe s fan belt need tightening up and Art s tool kit was packed and ready. Art Bringe, Ed Lampi, Barry Lampi, Pete Prudden, Ron Thompson and Paul Wotruba made the trip with their cars. All was fine until a half a block before we entered the gate to the show grounds. It seems officer Doughnut was listening to what he thought was Barry s Pipes on his Judge and decided it was Paul s Corvair making the Loud noise, (so he thought). He was issued a ticket for expired tabs and off they went. The car was not loud and there was many others louder, but Paul was the lucky one that day. All in all it was a great day.

Corvairs need a good vacuum level to operate efficiently and well. The carburetors depend on vacuum to supply the correct amount of fuel. Also, the distributor depends on vacuum to fire the fuel at the correct time. Care should be taken to assure there is no vacuum leaks in any hoses or gaskets. All hoses and gaskets should be checked carefully to prevent any vacuum leaks. These hose are very old and get hard over the years and will not seal. Valve adjustment should also be checked. Barring worn rings, bad valves, and incorrect parts, your Corvair can be tuned up to run like a top! 6/18/2006 Head of the Lakes Corvair Association Newsletter Art Bringe s New Ride Here is some pictures of Art Bringe s new ride. It s a 1965 Corsa 180 HP Turbo. It s got a new fresh coat of Evening orchid paint. We stopped up at Arts and took a peek at his new toy after Ed Lampi and I went to the car show at St Scholastica. It s a sweet ride. If it looks familiar it should because it belonged to Glen Lemke from Hayward. Art and Glen struck up a deal and traded Corvairs. Glen wanted an Automatic Convertible and Art had what he wanted. It sounds like a good deal for both sides.
6/18/2006 Head of the Lakes Corvair Association Newsletter May 20th was the Car show at St Scholastica. Myself, Ed Lampi, Charlie Running, and Dave Fierek were in attendance. Dave drove up from the twin Cities and brought his Tear drop Camper with him. What a classy rig. The weather was terrible, It was cold, windy and rained on and off all day long. Still it was a fun day to sit and chat with other car nuts. A lot of stories were shared. I had a great time chatting with Dave most of the day. Thanks Dave!!
