Industrial Maintenance Technology Associate in Applied Science As warehousing, manufacturing and shipping facilities race to keep pace with the demands of a world marketplace, the need for support services is greater than ever in these time-sensitive businesses. Industrial Maintenance Programs, including preventive maintenance, have become priorities for many companies. If you currently work in manufacturing or plan to work in the industry, a variety of courses will meet your needs. You ll gain hands-on work experience in the IT shop, where theory is put into practice. Core courses include engineering drawing, metal fabrication, metal machining and basic electronics. Depending on your focus, you also may take courses in business and supervision. You ll learn many facets of design, manufacturing and industrial maintenance to reduce downtime of equipment and facilities. Practical applications teach you how to repair electrical and mechanical failures, schedule preventive maintenance services and perform other managerial and supervisory tasks as the needs arise. Students also complete a ten-week externship at an approved site to gain practical, real-world experience. You may attend class full or part time, with many evening classes offered for the convenience of working students. Graduates of the Industrial Maintenance Technology program receive an Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.). IMT Facilities Students gain hands-on experience in the IMT lab and will develop skills using CNC lathes and mills, MIG and TIG welders, plastics molding equipment, woodworking equipment and computers.
