Guests / New Members / Solos: Brian Anita was a guest, and joined. Field Report: Board voted to reseed bad spots and cut down weeds on the Eastern and Western third cut areas. Bob Larsen is looking into having pilot station squares replaced. Forest Preserve Update: Bob Larsen updated the club on his activities to continue to pressure them on cutting down some of the trees that reach out for our airplanes. Discovery Night: Will start in May. Club Pattern Contest: 6/23-6/24 with set up on 6/22 Tri-Village R/C Meeting Minutes - April 5, 2018 Monthly Contest Fly: Craig Knaack indicated that there will be a tune up contest on April 8th. Regular point contests will begin May27 and continue through October 14th. There will be three classes for the contests: Novice, Intermediate and expert. There will be an additional Bomb Drop as part of the point contests in addition to the regular November "non point" Bomb Drop. Club Penguin Fly: Scheduled for Sunday 4/8/18, which overlaps with the Spring Tune Up. Breakfast meeting at 8:00, IHOP. Warbirds and Classics: Refer to Club 2018 Calendar Safety: No Issues reported. Jim Estey began a review of the AMA safety rules. If you have any safety issues at the field call (708) 771-1001 or if there is an emergency call 911. Members encouraged to pay dues this month. Currently, 60 renewals have been received. Future Training Sessions: include Frank Del Giudice presenting Covering Options and Painting by Bob Larsen TBD. New Business The 2019 Swap Shop As a result of the weaker financial return and rental cost increase by Du- Page, the club is looking for a new location for next years SWAP Shop. Member should email Bob Larsen with ideas for consideration. Club Banquet : One of the largest turn outs, and a good time was had by all. Awards were presented: Member of the Year: Dave Engen, Modeler of the Year: Al Tarenski, Instructor of the Year: Hans Becker (in absentia). Hans received his award at this club meeting. Club Picnic: has been set for 7/22/18 Drone Update: Nothing to report. Food Drive: Nothing to report. Poplar Creek Model Airplane Field www.trivillage.com NWRC Contest Day Change to Saturday: Contest scheduled for 4/7/18 Hobby Town Schaumburg: Dave Edson advised the club that Hobby town is looking to set up a display for our club for their Grand Opening. Club Membership Promotion: Ed Goldin suggested the club consider a display at the Woodfield Mall some 20 million visitors frequent it annually. Cursory discussion with the mall management indicated they would charge our club $500.00 per day of display. Joe Trytek suggested that the club consider contacting the Daily Herald for a possible article, and agreed to reach out to them accordingly. Other Items: Steve Hay repaired the Landing Gear for Bob Larsen's Turner Special, and as a result Bob made a $40.00 donation to the club's scholarship fund. Jim Estey reported that he has the replacement wind sock and hopes to install it later in the month, weather permitting.

Vito Passeri presented his new Hangar 9 10cc Ultra Stick, which he set up as electric. Bob Larsen presented his Spitfire Wing and Shindin Machine Electric Landing Gear, and demonstrated their operation. Bob feels their quality to be significantly better than Robarts. Northwest RC Club 2018 Contest Schedule 4/7/18 Season Opener, Fun Fly Cycle your batteries, check fuel supply & come out to the field to have some fun. 5/5/1 Fast & Slow -Take Off / Fly one high speed pass into the wind over a marked distance. The pass must be at a constant altitude (no diving) -Enter high speed pass with a Split S, exit the pass with an Immelman turn. -Fly one slow speed pass into the wind over a marked distance. The pass must be at a constant altitude with a constant heading. -The highest ratio of fast to slow shall rank the highest. - Beginners do not need to take off or land, just execute the high and slow passes. 7/14/18 Taxi & Timed Flight -Each contestant will draw their required time (2-3 min range) -Time starts when plane begins roll thru chute and ends when wheels touch down. - 3 consecutive inside loops must be performed before landing -Scoring will be 120 pts. minus one point for each second over /under chosen time. -A 10 pt deduction for each time plane taxis outside the chute -A 10 point deduction for each loop not performed -Beginner pilots will perform taxi manuever, then have the option of another pilot taking their plane off. Their time will continue when they resume control of the plane. the total time will include taxing and actual flight time. No takeoff or landing is required.
Northwest RC Club 2018 Contest Schedule 8/4/18 Picnic 9/16/18 Pattern -The AMA Novice pattern will be flown by Advanced pilots -Beginners will chose & fly 6 patterns from the pattern. 11/3/18 Egg/Bean in a Spot -Takeoff with an egg in the cup -Perform 360 degree turn -Land for the first time with engine running for bonus points -Load 25 beans in the cup -Takeoff -Perform 360 degree turn -Land into a 5ft square -Scoring: If your engine is not running on your first landing, 100 bonus points not awarded If you land with an egg you get 250 points, for every bean you have left in the cup, its 100X that number. If any wheel is in the 5ft square, you get 100 points -You may not advance throttle after wheels touch -Beginners, from a straight level flight, performs as many loops possible in 2 minutes Scoring Example: Land with Egg Engine Running =100 pts Landing in Square =100 pts 17 beans X 10 =170 pts =250 pts
