NEW BUSINESS a) Staff Update Deputy Clerk Transit Study: Coordinator Mr. Latimer was available to Committee and answered their questions pertaining to the recent Transit study. The Chair, Fred Heyduk, is on the Simcoe County Accessibility Advisory Committee. It would be great if the Town of Wasaga Beach and Simcoe County could hold a joint meeting. Midland had 4 buses running every hour from 7a.m. to 7p.m. They have 4 fifty-foot kneeling buses brought from China. Mike Latimer, Project Coordinator for Wasaga Beach, encourages a joint meeting between the Town of Wasaga Beach and Simcoe County. Councillor Ego informed Committee that there might be a bus service, as advised by the Director of Public Works, from Wasaga Beach to Barrie in the future. Wasaga Beach, Collingwood and Stayner would pay together and City transit would be run by the County. The Deputy Clerk will look to book the meeting in August. Committee members would like to see a possibility that a bus can run from the Superstore to Walmart and then to Elmvale. Committee members are encouraged to get their questions together for the upcoming transit meeting in August. Committee spoke to further options in regards to Accessible transportation and routes as they noted it is an extreme need in our Town. Accessibility in Schools Program The Accessibility in Schools program was a great success. Councillor Belanger and Councillor Smith were present at the Library to present awards to three winners, one from each participating school. The winning accessibility drawings will be hung in the Library, Town Hall and the Recplex.
