Door Drive Unit The is an electrical door drive unit which automatically opens hinged lift doors up to 200 kg. As the operating arm is not directly fixed to the door, all landing doors in the lift can be opened by a single unit mounted above the door in the car or on the ceiling. The arm of the DICTAMAT 304 AZ is not connected to the landing door. It just pushes the door open with a roller on the end of the lever.the door is closed by the already installed door closer or closing spring. The is equipped with an electronic position control system. The final positions are therefore memorized in the control system - even in the event of a power failure. The drive unit slows down before reaching the final positions. This feature increases the safety and avoids noise and unnecessary strain on the door. A response level for a reversing function can also be precisely adjusted by the control system, along with the speed. If the door hits an obstacle whilst opening, it reverses immediately. for hinged lift landing doors Technical Data Force of drive unit max. 100 Nm Door weight max. 200 kg Door width max. 1,2 m Door speed opening and closing speed separately adjustable; 2 to 8 s / 90 Power supply 230 V AC / 2 A / 50-60 Hz Motor (2,5 m plug-in cable) 24 V DC / 90 W / IP 40 Operating options Impulse OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN/CLOSE DICTATOR TECHNIK GMBH Gutenbergstr. 9 D - 86356 Neusäß Germany Tel. Door Drive Unit Description The drive unit is either mounted on the cabin roof or in the car on the lintel directly above the cabin door. In both cases please observe any relevant safety regulations. The drive unit is ready to mount once delivered and includes a plug-in cable connecting the control system to the motor. The length of the axle is adjustable, so that it can be adapted exactly to the requirements of each cabin. The maximum distance between the bottom edge of the drive unit on the cabin ceiling and the operating arm opening the door is 350 mm. The drive unit can be used both for right and left-hand doors. The operating arm is not connected to the landing door of the lift but is provided with a plastic roller which runs on the door. In the event of a power failure the door can therefore always be moved freely by hand. The operating arm pushes the door open. When it has reached the opened position it returns to the closed position as soon as the set time for the automatic closing has expired. The closing speed for the operating arm should be higher than the opening speed. When the operating arm has reached its closed position, a contact switch connects with the central lift control system, making sure that the lift only starts moving again, when the operating arm is securely back inside the cabin. The door itself is closed by the door closer or closing spring combined with a door check already installed. DICTATOR TECHNIK GMBH Gutenbergstr. 9 D - 86356 Neusäß Germany Tel. Door Drive Unit Operating Options The control system designed for the use with the is the SQUARE 820 of the system of control units SQUARE. The control system permits both deadman as well as impulse operation. When using it on lift doors we recommend strongly the impulse operation. All final positions are adjusted in the control system. Apart from the positions OPEN and CLOSED the positions for changing to the crawling speed before the positions OPEN and CLOSED have to be adjusted. Starting at these positions the speed of the drive unit is reduced and the door enters slowly the final position. The SQUARE 820 offers the following functions: Deadman OPEN, CLOSE: Door opens/closes as long as the switch is pressed The deadman function can be adjusted separately for OPEN and CLOSE Impulse OPEN: Door opens completely after pressing the switch shortly Partial opening: Door opens partially (to an additional position adjusted in the control system) after pressing the switch shortly Impulse CLOSE: Door closes completely after pressing the switch shortly Alternating impulse OPEN / CLOSE: after each impulse the door moves in the opposite final position STOP As long as the door opens, it stops as soon as the STOP switch is pressed. When using the STOP switch during closing the arm of the drive unit is stopped. The door goes on closing until it hits the lever. Automatic closing: Door closes automatically after a time pre-set between 1 and 999 sec. Further adjustment possibilities: Safety equipment Function relay contact (e.g. for the connection of a sirene, warning flashlight etc.) Operation characteristics of the motor: Smooth starting (adjustment of the acceleration and deceleration when the motor starts or is disconnected) Fast Stop (when safety equipment is actuated ) Distance for the crawling speed before the final position OPEN and CLOSED, crawling speed OPEN, crawling speed CLOSE Response level for the reverse function Please make sure that the motor reverses when the load exceeds 150 N Components Included Drive unit (24 V DC motor, casing zinc-plated) with adjustable axle, contact switch on the axle 2,5 m connecting cable to the control system Order Information Part no. 710 344 Control system SQUARE 820 Part no. 706 082 Page 01.040.00 DICTATOR TECHNIK GMBH Gutenbergstr. 9 D - 86356 Neusäß Germany Tel. I. Mechanical Installation I/1 Upon delivery the drive unit is provided with a securing screw for the transport. The red marked screw may not be removed unless the arm of the drive unit has been installed (see I/10). ill. 1 I/2 a) Determine the position of the drive unit on the roof of the cabin: - Normally the drive unit is fixed on the roof at a 90 -angle to the door. Should there not be enough space available it can also be mounted parallel to the door. - When choosing the position please make sure that the arm can open the door up to the opening angle that is required and does not get obstructed by the door frame before reaching this position! ill. 2a b) Make a large enough opening in the roof of the cabin through which the axle of the drive unit can be put through into the cabin (diameter of the axle 25 mm) Please observe the relevant regulations. ill. 2b I/3 The bearing included in the delivery is pushed onto the axle and fixed from below to the ceiling of the cabin serving at the same time - to cover the opening in the ceiling of the cabin - to stabilize the axle ill. 3 I/4 Fix the drive unit in an exactly horizontal position on the roof of the cabin. I. Mechanical Installation - continuation I/5 Carefully remove the lid from the casing of the drive unit, loosening the earth cable. I/6 Put the arm of the drive unit on the axle and fix it from below and from the side with the hexagon socket screws. ill. 4 I/7 Open the landing door halfway and fix it there with a wedge (or similar). I/8 Securing screw for transport ill. 5 Tensioning device From the cabin insert the axle into the drive unit. For this purpose the tensioning device has to be loosened. It is tightened with hexagon socket screws M6. These screws have to be loosened (make sure you always loosen the opposite screw as the next one). Insert the axle. If the axle does not enter completely, loosen the silverplated screws completely. In their place insert M8 screws. This way the tensioning device comes loose completely. Determine the height in which the arm of the drive unit has to operate. Move the arm until it reaches the half opened door and fix it in this position to the drive unit with the 9 hexagon socket screws. ATTENTION: Tighten the screws equally (16Nm) (always the opposite one as the next), in several rounds, making sure that the axle is fixed in a absolutely straight position. Finally control once more whether all screws are tightened properly. If the axle has to be removed some time, just follow the instructions for loosening the tensionning device. I/9 Open now the landing door completely and fix it there again with a wedge. The arm of the drive unit stays in its present position (halfway open). I/10 IMPORTANT Page 01.040.02 Remove the red marked securing screw for the transport (see ill. 5) Tel. (0821)24673-0 Fax (0821) 24673-90 E-Mail info@dictator.de 0032

I. Mechanical Installation - continuation I/11 Install the control system on the cabin roof at an easily accessible position. I/12 ill. 6 Plug the 5-channel-plug of the connection cable drive unit - control system into the connector of the drive unit (there are two connectors provided, one for each possible opening direction of the door). The connectors are easily identified by the labels on the casing of the drive unit. Tel. (0821)24673-0 Fax (0821) 24673-90 E-Mail info@dictator.de 0032 Page 01.040.03

II. Electrical connection / Putting into service II/1 The control system to be used along with the drive unit DICTAMAT 304 AZ is the SQUARE 820 (part no. 706 082). 117 335 ESC Power ENT Alarm 335 II/2 II/3 The leads of the connection cable delivered along the with the are labeled at the end that is connected to the control system. The connection to the control system is done according to the wiring diagram of the SQUARE 820. Before putting the whole installation into service an OPEN and CLOSE push button should be connected. Connect the control system to the 230 VAC mains. All adjustments and programming are carried out with the membrane keys and the LCD display on the lid of the control system. Please follow the instructions of the technical manual of the SQUARE 820. II/4 Adjustment of the final positions: Please follow the instructions of the technical manual of the SQUARE 820. However in case of the DICTAMAT 304AZ some adjustments difer from the standard ones as the arm is not fixed to the door. ATTENTION: if the door closes when you push the push button OPEN, please verify the following points: - the connector of the connection cable is plugged into the correct plug of the drive unit (door DIN right or left)? - Correct connection of the connecting cable in the control system? II. Electrical connection / Putting into service - cont. We recommend the following values for a first adjustment of the final positions: Final position "Door CLOSED" : please note that the value refers to the position of the arm. In the position "Door CLOSED" the arm has to be inside the cabin, in a parallel position to the cabin door. It is absolutely necessary to control this position again, once the contact on the axle (see II/1 of this manual) has been installed as otherwise this contact might be destroyed. Final position "Crawling speed CLOSE": This position should be positioned as far as possible before the final position "Door CLOSED", as the arm is not slowed down by any load when closing. Its intertia keeps it moving even when the motor has been switched off. To make sure it stops in the position "Door CLOSED", the closing speed has to be reduced as soon as possible. Final position "Crawling speed OPEN": This position also should be adjusted well before reaching the position "Door OPEN" as the arm is not fixed to the door and can not actively slow down the door. It just can push the door open at a slower speed. Final position "Door OPEN": the final position adjusted in the control system should be positioned about 30 before the real position "Door OPEN" as the door and the arm continues opening due to their inertia even when the motor has been switched off. After an initial adjustment the values should be modified and memorized in order to match exactly the requirements of each installation. II/4 Recommended values for the motor adjustments: - Nominal motor power (depends on the motor used in the installation) For the DICTAMAT 304AZ, part no. 710 344: 90 W - Crawling speed: as low as possible (10 %) - Closing speed: as high as possible (90%) - Soft start: in opening direction: as high as possible (50%) in closing direction: as low as possible (10%) - Reverse function: in opening direction: as high as possible (14) (otherwise the arm might reverse when it hits the door during opening). All above mentionned values are just approximate values to facilite an initial adjustment. In a second step they have to be adjusted precisely to the requirements of each installation. Tel. (0821)24673-0 Fax (0821) 24673-90 E-Mail info@dictator.de 0032 Page 01.040.05

III. Installation of the contact switch III/1 ill. 7 After having put the DICTAMAT 304AZ into service the mechanical contact switch has to be installed. For this purpose the arm has to be in the closed position. The contact is fixed to the drive unit at the indicated position (choose the same opening direction as for the connection of the 5-channel plug of the connection cable). Slip the bracket with the contact bridge from above onto the axle of the drive unit, observing the opening direction of the door (see I/12). Before tightening the bracket on the axle make sure there remain a few millimetres of clearance between the contact bridge and the contact. Make sure that the contact bridge enters the contact properly (open and close the door with the motor several times). If necessary readjust the positions "Crawling speed CLOSE" and "Door CLOSED". III/2 Connect the earth cable again to the lid of the casing, put the lid back on the drive unit and fix it. Page 01.040.06 Tel. (0821)24673-0 Fax (0821) 24673-90 E-Mail info@dictator.de 0032

IV. Service Diagnosis, Trouble shooting IV/1 Motor does not start a) Make sure that the red marked securing screw for transport has been removed (see I/10) Adjustment screw position control ill. 8 b) Make sure that the plug of the connection cable from the control system to the drive unit is sitting properly in the connector of the drive unit. c) Check whether the position control system of the drive unit has not been misadjusted: c1) Remove the plug of the connection cable from the control system c2) Turn the arm of the drive unit until it reaches the halfway open position c3) Turn the adjustment screw of the position control system with a small screw driver until the resistance between the binders 87 and 88 on the drive unit reaches 500 Ohm. c4) Plug the 5-channel-plug of the connection cable back into the connector of the drive unit and adjust the positions "Door OPEN" and "Door CLOSED". IV/2 Arm of the drive unit moves into the wrong direction IV/3 Arm reverses immediately after reaching a final position Change the sense of rotation: plug the 5-channel-plug of the connection cable from the control system into the other connector on the casing of the drive unit. The response level of the reverse function has been adjusted at too low a value (see technical manual of the SQUARE 820). IV/4 When reaching the position "Door OPEN" the door goes on opening until hitting a mechanical stop, the motor is not switched off and does not accept a CLOSE command Readjust the position "Door OPEN" of the position control system (see technical manual of the SQUARE 820).
