This newsletter highlights the events and hopefully it will bring back some memories, and inspire others to get involved in 2015. Some members were around back in Christmas 1974. This year marks the 40 th Anniversary of Cyclone Tracy. As we live in the tropics it s inevitable that we will get another storm like this. I think today s building codes will lessen the devastation but it s a timely reminder for all off us to think on our own cyclone plans.. From car shows to quiz nites, ten pin bowling to pub runs, cricket matches to drag nights. The club tries to cater to families and individuals. Please feel free to get involved, remember the Club is only as good as it s membership and there is always something to do. As always the club has a big year in store for 2015, The Australia day ute run is just around the corner and we are still after volunteers to help out. Your club committee is now in recess until the next committee meeting on 13 th January at which time we will be finalising arrangements for the quiz night. This is the last newsletter of the year. Whether you are staying in Darwin, or like our President enjoying a break in our cooler southern climates on behalf of the club I d like to wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas. See you all throughout the year Cheers Wilko CHCC News November 2014 1

The Bowls Nite is the x-mas break up event for the club, the last official function for the year. This year it attracted 22 bowlers and a stack of spectators at Planet Ten Pin in Nightcliff. The evening starts at 6pm, two games of bowls, then a cruise through town ending up at Mindil beach for beer and pizzas. Luckily the dry season weather is still upon us and the rains were at bay. The cruise went without a hitch and we had many people gawking at the gleaming machinery idling down Mitchell street before heading to Mindil beach. After a little bit of organising, bowlers were placed into lanes and the fun kicked off. As usual, the competition was fierce, for some, it was all about sheep stations, for others, it s all about avoiding the gutters Mindil beach is a great spot and beer and pizza make for a simple meal for all to enjoy. The traditional Christmas cakes are always a treat as well. Bowlers of note were Craig Humphries, not a member but he is a mate and he does drive a Classic (albet an Ex Cop car Charger) with the best score of the night with 205. 2 nd ranking went to Paul Kennedy with 175 and 3 rd place Peter O Sullivan with 131. This is a great way for friends to get together and remember the year that was and give each other well wishes for the festive season ahead.. CHCC News November 2014 3
