Digital ph transmitter Compact, remote versions for DN 15 to 200 Fully programmable ph transmitter functions for all kinds of ph-measurement tasks Large range of process connections with various fittings Multi language, menu-guided operation Type 8205 can be combined with... Type S020 Type 6642 Type 2731 Type 2030 Type 8644 PLC Fitting Solenoid valve Diaphragm valve for Continuous control On/Off Diaphragm valve Valve islands The ph transmitter is available in different models: Compact ph transmitter with integrated ph electrode Remote ph transmitter, for panel or wall mounting, to connect to the Bürkert ph sensor Type 8200 (max. 10m). Technical data (common to the various versions) General data Display Electrical connections 15 x 60 mm, 8-digit LCD, alphanumeric, 15 segments, 9 mm high shielded cable with max. 1.5 mm 2 cross-section The ph transmitter or sensor can be installed into a pipe by using Insertion fitting Type S020 or other suitable installation materials. It can also be installed in tanks or containers by using an industrial immersion fitting. Environment Relative humidity Standards and approvals Standard EMC Security Vibration Shock 80%, non condensated EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-3 EN 61010-1 EN 60068-2-6 EN 60068-2-27 www.burkert.com Page 1/12

Concept of operation The compact version combines a ph sensor and an electronic module with a display in an IP65 enclosure. The access to the output terminals are provided via two cable glands or a cable plug EN175301-803. Bürkert designed fitting ensures simple direct installation of the Bürkert transmitter into pipes from DN 15 to DN 200. The panel-mounted version consists of an electronic module 8205 integrated in a front-cover. The associated separate ph sensor is Type 8200. The output signals are provided on a terminal strip. The wall-mounted version consists of an electronic module 8205 in an IP65 enclosure. The associated separate ph sensor is Type 8200. The output signals are provided on a terminal strip via cable gland. Operation and display Customized adjustments, such as measuring range, engineering units and alarm setpoints can be carried out menu-supported on site via a multilingual display. The operation is classified according to three levels. Main Menu - ph - temperature - output current - electrode voltage - HOLD function - ph electrode calibration Calibration Menu - language - temperature unit - measuring range 4-20 ma - relay parameter definition - selection of temperature compensation (Pt1000 or manual) - display or not of electrode voltage in main menu - filter selection Test Menu - Offset - Span - temperature adjustment - simulation of ph Direction upwards in menu Choice of digit values Steps from 0 to 9 Direction downwards in menu or sideways for digit selection Relay 2 LED (contact closed) Relay 1 LED (contact closed) Accept of chosen parameter or adjusted value Page 2/12

Compact ph transmitter Type 8205 The sensor component consists of a replaceable combination ph-electrode, screwed into the sensor housing. The measured signal is conveyed to the transmitter via a coax plug. The Pt1000 for automatic temperature compensation is a standard feature in the sensor housing. The transmitter component converts the measured signal, displays the actual value and computes the output signals. Pressure / temperature chart Pressure (bar) 10 9 8 7 6 5 PVDF PVC + PP 4 3 PVC (PN 6) 2 1 PP (PN 6) 0-30 -10 +10 +30 +50 +70 +90 +110 Temperature ( C) A: Application range for complete device (fitting + transmitter) Principle of operation The most important part of the ph transmitter is the ph electrode with its ph selective glass membrane. When the electrode is immersed into the solution, an electrical charge caused by ions (H+) generates a cell voltage between the glass membrane and the solution. This electrical voltage is measured with reference to a reference electrode, located around the ph glass electrode. The cell voltage of the combination electrode is directly proportional to the ph value. The transmitter functions in a two wire circuit (without relay) or three wire circuit (with relays - limits values freely adjustable) and requires a power supply of 12... 30 V DC. A 4... 20 ma standard signal proportional to the ph or to the temperature ( C) is available as output signal. Installation The 8205 ph transmitter can easily be installed into any Bürkert Insertion fitting system (S020) by just fixing the main nut. Mount the compact ph transmitter in vertical position (max. ±75 ) into a horizontal pipe. The electrode must continuously be immersed into the measuring fluid in order to protect it from drying out. 75 75 The transmitter must be protected from constant heat radiation and other environmental influences, such as direct exposure to sunlight. An industrial immersion kit allows installation of this transmitter into tanks or containers. The following lengths are available: 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 mm. Special lengths on request.
