67 POD 4 RAMP TRACKS YOUR PARTS Superglue, tweezers + JET AIR TRANSPORTER Tracks Slider Pipes x 2 Ramp unit Shaft long Shaft short 01 02 03 04 Join the corners of last stage s ramp base, positioned face down, to those of this stage s slider. The corners will meet like this to form a hinge. Insert the longer shaft, with the smooth end first. Use the back of the tweezers to press in the ribbed tip, securing the shaft. 05 06 07 08 The join should look like this. Raise the ramp base and fold its slide bar down so it meets these tabs. The hole cut through the bar s head should meet those of the tabs, like this. Fit the shorter shaft, smooth tip first, through the holes. 09 10 11 12 Press this in all the way. Check the slider raises as you pull the base s slide plate. Glue the ramp unit to the arrowed pins. 224 It should look like this.
11 13 14 15 Glue one of the pipes here, noting the part s orientation. The other goes here. Check both are set correctly. 16 17 18 19 Line up the assembly to the tracks like this. Note the orientation of the parts. Slot the racks into place. The outlined ridge will sit in the ramp s groove. Press the other side into place, too. You will hear a snap. Check that the tracks can slide back and forth along the grooves. 20 21 22 Feed the ramp assembly into Pod 4, unit side first. Glue these mounting posts to the arrowed holes...... like this. 23 24 Check again that the slide plate still raises the ramp, as before. With the ramp raised, the tracks can be extended out over the front hatch. 225
JET AIR TRANSPORTER Superglue, tweezers Cockpit Main body Pumps x 2 Control desk Joystick Base Virgil Tracy 01 02 03 04 Glue the joystick into this slot on the control desk. Note its orientation. Unless specified, all parts will be glued. Tweezers will help you press the part into place, if needed. Glue the control panel to this hole on the cockpit s floor. The assembly should look like this. 05 06 07 08 Now glue the main body to its base. The circled tabs will position the parts. The first pump goes here...... and the second goes here...... like this. 09 10 11 Next, glue the cockpit to the main body...... like this. Lastly, place the Virgil figurine here. No glue is required. 226
68 LEFT REAR BOOSTER YOUR PARTS Superglue, tweezers + ALAN S RACING CAR Booster Booster plate Booster vents Screws x 3 01 02 03 The booster plate has a smooth and a rough face. Fit the vents to the plate, with the plate s smooth face touching the vents. Do not glue these parts. These two mounting posts will secure the vents to the booster... 04 05 06... via these tabs inside the booster. Turn the assembly and check the circled ridges are holding the vent/plate in place. 227 Tighten a screw into this tab.
07 Repeat for the other tab. ALAN S RACING CAR Superglue, tweezers Chassis Dashboard Wheels x 4 Seats Axles x 2 01 02 03 Remove the wheels and fit one to the tip of an axle. Repeat for another wheel and axle. Feed one set through these holes. 04 05 06 Add another wheel to the axle s free tip. Press these together to secure them...... like this. 228
07 08 09 The other axle and wheel fits here. Fit the last wheel to the axle s free tip. The wheels should look like this. 10 11 12 Front Glue the dashboard here, noting the part s orientation. It should look like this. Now glue the seats here, via the two small pins... 13 14 Check the dashboard and seat are spaced as shown here.... like this. 229
69 RIGHT REAR BOOSTER YOUR PARTS + ALAN S RACING CAR Superglue, tweezers Booster Booster plate Booster vents Screws x 3 01 02 03 04 Like the one supplied with the last stage, the booster plate has a smooth and a rough face. Fit the vents to the plate, with the plate s smooth face touching the vents. Do not glue these parts. These two posts will secure the vents to the booster...... via these tabs inside the booster s casing. 05 06 07 Turn the assembly and check the circled ridges are holding the vent/plate in place. Tighten a screw into this tab. Repeat for the other tab. 230
ALAN S RACING CAR Superglue, tweezers, scissors, water, tissue or cloth Body Front windscreen Steering wheel Detail transfers Rear windsrceen Fin 01 02 03 04 Fit the steering wheel into this hole. All details will be glued. It does not matter which way round it goes. The front windscreen goes here. Note the orientation. Carefully press the windscreen into place from its top ridge do not press down too hard. 05 06 07 08 Now take a close look at the rear windscreen. Noting the orientation, fit the part here. The parts should look like this. Glue the fin here. 09 10 11 12 Make sure the pointed tip does not get damaged during the assembly. Now glue the body to the chassis assembly. Check there are no gaps where the parts meet. That completes the assembly the next step is to add the water-based transfer details. 231
13 14 15 To apply the transfers, you will need scissors, tweezers, a piece of cloth or tissue and a small amount of water, along with the transfers. 16 Separate the first number 2 transfer carefully with scissors. 17 Use tweezers to submerge it in the water for about 10 seconds. (Do not touch the 2 with the tweezers.) 18 Lay the transfer on a piece of cloth or tissue so as to absorb some of the excess water. 19 After 30 seconds, the transfer will be loose, and able to slide across its backing. Carefully move it to the edge of the backing. Do not crease it. Now, very gently, slide the transfer from its backing onto this section of the car. 20 It should look like this see the above photos for placement. If you need to adjust its position, a dot of water will help this. Once correctly in position, lightly dab away the excess moisture with the tissue. 21 22 Repeat for the other transfer opposite the first. The car should look like this. 232
70 LEFT BOOSTER SPEAKER YOUR PARTS Screwdriver Casing A LED/cable LED holder Speaker/cable Casing B Screws x 2 01 02 03 Fetch the battery box used previously and fit its AA batteries. Make sure the switch is turned off, then connect up the battery box s cable to the CON1 socket. Now attach the LED s cable to the CON2 socket. 04 Switch the power on. 05 The LED will light up. Turn the power off and disconnect the cables. 233
06 07 08 Slot the LED into its holder...... like this. Be careful with the delicate part. Now fit the LED into this hole in the casing B. 09 The LED holder will sit on the mounting post next to the hole. 10 Turn a screw into this to secure the parts... 11... like this. 12 Check the LED is seated correctly in the hole. 13 Now take the LED s cable and feed it through the rectangular hole in the side of casing A, entering from the inside. 14 The speaker s cable will join it. 234
15 Feed both cables through this hole. 16 Holding the LED cable in place, move the speaker into the casing A. 17 Slide the speaker into place like this, with both cables still running through the hole. 18 Check from the reverse that the speaker front is seated correctly. You do not need to glue this part. 19 Gently bend the LED s cable to about 40 degrees, like this. 20 Then join the casing B to casing A. Its barbed tabs will secure the parts... 21... like this. 22 The assembly should look like this. 23 24 Fit the assembly, LED side first, into the previously assembled booster. It will sit like this. Do not glue the parts yet. 235
71 RIGHT REAR BOOSTER YOUR PARTS + HOVERBIKE Screwdriver Casing A Spacer LED/cable Casing B LED holder Screws x 2 01 02 03 To begin, you will repeat the LED test for this stage s part. Retrieve the battery box and fit its AA batteries. Make sure the switch is turned off, then connect up the battery box s cable to the CON1 socket. Now attach the LED s cable to the CON2 socket. Switch the 04 power on. 05 The LED will light up. Turn the power off and disconnect the cables. 236
06 07 08 Slot the LED into its holder...... like this. Be careful with the delicate part. Now fit the LED into this hole in the casing B. 09 10 11 12 The LED holder will sit on the mounting post next to the hole. Turn a screw into this to secure the parts...... like this. Check the LED is seated correctly in the hole. 13 Now fit the spacer into the casing A, gluing the part to secure it... 14... to the casing s inside ridge, like this. 15 Now fit this assembly to the casing B. Make sure the cable runs freely through the centre of the parts and that the barbed tabs are holding the parts in place correctly... 16... like this. 237
17 18 Fit the casing to the booster assembled in Stage 69. Do not glue the parts yet. HOVERBIKE Superglue Main body Seat Scott Tracy 01 02 03 Glue the seat to the main body. Check the parts are level...... like this. 04 Scott Tracy will sit like this, on the model s seat. 238
72 RIGHT REAR BOOSTER YOUR PARTS + THE COBRA HALF-TRACK Superglue Booster intake Top bracket Mesh Lower bracket Screws x 3 01 02 03 Longer: speaker Shorter: LED Note the difference in length between the cables running from the casing that holds the speaker. Use a bit of tape to mark the longer cable with an S, for speaker. The mesh is designed to fit with its perforations forming horizontally aligned diamonds (see inset). 04 05 06 07 Glue the mesh into the inside of the booster intake. Apply the glue lightly to the inner circle (blue arrow) and to ensure the mesh is level...... by lining it up to the circled notch, which is at the top of the booster s face. 239 Feed the LED cable, leading from the booster, through its central hole...... like this.
08 09 10 Now fit the speaker cable. Both should fit neatly, like this. Locate the slots (blue circles) on the intake with the tabs (yellow circles) inside the booster body. 11 12 13 Join these...... then twist the parts so they engage, holding the parts together. The booster is ready to be fitted. 14 15 16 Seat the lower bracket into this space, at the rear-right of your T2 model. It should fit like this. Lower the booster into position so the intake s neck sits in the bracket. The circled slot must face up. 17 Front 18 19 Back The top bracket has a tab at its back, to match the slot. 20 Lower this part onto the neck, joining the tab/slot. 21 It should come to rest like this. Turn a screw lightly into this hole. Then repeat for the other side, and tighten both fully. 240
COBRA HALF-TRACK Superglue Drive wheels A x 2 Drive wheels B x 2 Tracks x 2 Wheels A x 6 Wheels B x 6 Chassis Fender Axles x 4 01 Glue the drive wheels A and B together, as you have done previously. 02 Now glue together the wheels A and B. 03 04 05 06 Prepare the drive wheel s axle, as you have done before. Then do the same for those of the three wheels. The circled detail is at the rear of the chassis. Fit the drive wheels axle into the rearmost hole. 07 08 09 10 Press the drive wheels together to secure them. Repeat for the first wheel/ axle set. Press the wheels together. Repeat until all wheels are fitted, as shown. 11 12 13 Fit the first set of tracks. Then the second. Now glue the fender to the chassis, noting the location of the circled details. 241
73 LEFT REAR BOOSTER YOUR PARTS Superglue + THE COBRA HALF-TRACK Booster intake Top bracket Mesh Lower bracket Screws x 3 01 02 03 Again, the mesh is designed to fit with its perforations forming horizontally aligned diamonds (see inset). 04 Glue the mesh into the inside of the booster intake. Apply the glue lightly to the inner circle (blue arrow) and to ensure the mesh is correctly levelled... 05... by lining it up to the circled notch, which is at the top of the booster s face. 06 Feed the LED cable leading from the remaining rear booster through the central hole in the mesh. Make sure the cable is not caught on any part of the assembly. 242 Locate the slots (blue circles) on the intake with the tabs (yellow circles) inside the booster body.
07 08 09 Engage the slots and tabs...... then twist the parts so they lock together. The booster is ready to be fitted. 10 11 12 Seat the lower bracket into this space, at the rear-left of your T2 model. It should fit like this. Lower the booster into position so the intake s neck sits in the bracket. The circled slot must face up. 13 Front 14 15 Back The top bracket has a tab at its back, to match the slot. Lower this part onto the neck, joining the tab/slot. It should come to rest like this. 16 17 Turn a screw lightly into this hole. Then repeat for the other side, and tighten both fully. 243
COBRA HALF-TRACK Superglue, tweezers Underbody Front axle Main body Underbody panel Pad Wheels x 4 Hubcaps x 2 01 02 03 04 Glue the pad to the underbody panel like this. All parts will be glued. Tweezers will help you handle the tiny part. Press this into place fully. Noting the parts orientations, glue the underbody panel to the underbody. Press the parts together so there are no gaps at their join. 05 06 07 08 Place the front axle into the arrowed groove. It does not matter which way round it goes. Now fit the underbody assembly to the underside of the main body. Check that the parts are perfectly flush. 09 10 11 12 Feed the axle through one of the wheels, positioned like this do not glue these parts. Then add a second wheel. Also without glue, fit one of the two hubcaps. Press the wheels and hubcap together so they are secure. 13 Repeat for the other wheel set. 14 Glue this stage s assembly to the top of the assembly from the previous stage. The circled detail locates the rear of the chassis. 244
