These procedures should not be attempted by do-it-yourselfers. NOTE: The antenna should be installed only if the ambient air temperature is 15 C (60 F) or above. 1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the frequencies for the preset buttons. 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. 3. Touch the metal part of the screwdriver to any metal part of the vehicle to discharge any static electricity. SMALL FLAT-TIP SCREWDRIVER CONTROL UNIT 6. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the area where the protective tape will attach. Remove the backing from the protective tape. Attach the protective tape to the control unit over the switches. Discharge any static electricity. Remove the right and left map light lens (four retaining tabs each). Do not damage the lenses. NOTE: The switches must be set before the control unit is plugged in. If the switch settings are not correct, the remote engine starter will not operate correctly. If you change the switch settings with the unit connected, you must disconnect the unit, then reconnect it before the control unit recognizes the new settings. 5. Installing the Antenna 22. Using two pairs of needle nose pliers, bend the antenna plate according to the measurements shown. 23. Using scissors, cut out the template. Cut out. PLATE 18 mm (0.7 in.) 25. Measure the antenna cable as shown. Wrap three urethane tapes onto the antenna cable in those positions. 28. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the area where the antenna will attach. Allow it to dry before proceeding. URETHANE TAPE HEADLINER 390 mm (15 in.) Cut two urethane tapes in half. Wrap three of the half pieces of urethane tape around the antenna cable as shown. 29. Remove the adhesive backing from the antenna, insert the antenna plate under the headliner, align the antenna with the template, and attach the antenna to the windshield. 30. Remove the template. 31. Push the antenna cable into the headliner as shown. Be careful not to crease the headliner. 27. Cut the urethane tape as shown. Attach the urethane tape to the antenna plate as shown. 32. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the area where the urethane tape will attach. Cut the urethane tape remaining from step 27 as shown. Secure the antenna cable to the vehicle panel with the piece of urethane tape. Be careful not to crease the headliner. 34. Route the antenna cable along the left A-pillar and secure it to the vehicle harness with five wire ties as shown. 45. Plug the engine starter harness 4-pin and 2-pin connectors into the fuse box. Make sure the engine starter harness 4-pin and 2-pin connectors are plugged in securely. A loose connector can cause the engine to stall. Pull the connector and check for securely locking. 42-PIN 49. Unplug the vehicle 20-pin connector from the right side of the fuse box and plug it into the engine starter harness 20-pin connector as shown. 89. Using a felt-tip pen, mark around the vehicle hood lock for reinstallation. 93. Align the new hood lock with the marks you made, and install it with the three bolts you removed. 95. Route the hood switch harness. Secure the hood switch harness to the vehicle panel with the three clips installed on the hood switch harness. 98. Route the hood switch harness along the vehicle harness to the center of the vehicle. Secure the hood switch harness to the vehicle harness with six wire ties. Reinstalling the Left A-Pillar Trim 105. Check that the left A-pillar trim and the left A-pillar trim pin are not damaged, and install the clip on the pin. CLIP Remove. CLIP 107. Check that all wire harness are routed properly and all connectors are plugged in. 108. Reinstall all removed parts. Check that all clips and other fasteners are installed securely. 109. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. 110. Enter the customer s radio anti-theft code, and reset the radio station presets. 111. Reset the clock. 112. Perform REMOTE REGISTRATION and FUNCTION CHECK. LEFT A-PILLAR LEFT A-PILLAR TRIM PIN 6305010H 106. Position the clip perpendicular to the hole in the left A-pillar. Install the clip by lightly pushing the left A-pillar trim at the area marked SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG. Check that the airbag is not pinched by the clip. Do not push the left A-pillar trim excessively. If the vehicle is equipped with automatic climate control, do the following. Setting the Automatic Defrost Function Setting the automatic defrost function must be done while the vehicle air conditioner is in the OFF position. Turn the air conditioner to the OFF position with the ignition switch in the ON (II) position, then turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position. While holding the REAR DEFOGGER switch and the RECIRCULATION switch, turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position. The Set temperature and a letter (CL or AC) on the air conditioner display will blink after 5 seconds, and stays on after 10 seconds. NOTE: To ensure security, the PCM code (password) is changed every day, so it is impossible to register the remote controlled engine starter if the date of the PCM code acquisition and registration are different. The date of the HDS tester should also be the same. Input the PCM Code. Select REGISTER REMOTE CONTROL ENGINE STARTER UNIT. FUNCTION CHECK Operating Conditions Hood is closed Shift lever in park The key is out of the ignition All doors and tailgate closed and locked Inspection 1. Within 1 second, press the command button, and then the start button on the transmitter. The engine should start if all operating conditions are met. Does the engine start? Yes - Operation is normal. No: Make sure all Operating Conditions are met. Check the engine starter harness connections. Connect the HDS and check for an indicated failure. (Refer to the appropriate service manual for details.) 2. Press the command button on the transmitter, and within 1 second, press the stop button. The engine should stop. Does the engine stop? Yes - Operation is normal. No - Check the engine starter harness connections. 3. After the engine has stopped, start the engine again, and check that the engine stops after each of the following conditions: NOTE: After each test the ignition key must be cycled, or the driver s door must be opened and closed Move the shift lever out of the P position. Unlock or open the doors or the tailgate. Open the hood. Insert the key in the ignition. Press on the brake pedal. Does the engine stop after each of these tests? STOP BUTTON TRANSMITTER DISPLAY COMMAND BUTTON START BUTTON 732904AY Yes - Operation is normal. No - Check the engine starter harness connections. 4. Check that the power window and the moonroof do not function and the shift lever does not move to any position but the P position when the engine is started with the transmitter. 5. Press the command button on the transmitter two times and check the vehicle condition on the display. 6.
