Treasurer Report: Balance $10,221.88 (report submitted) Membership Report: 224 members Webmaster Report: Chuck & the board congratulated Don on the 3rd place award at Porsche Parade for our Website and presented him with the plaque. Don mentioned that in reviewing the grading system for the award that some of the responses were marked zero or left blank without an explanation. This does not seem to be constructive criticism and does not give us the tools we need to improve. It was decided that Chuck will speak with Sandy about this and Don is writing a letter to the PCA webmaster for input. Newsletter: Chuck spoke with Bracken about revitalizing the newsletter and Fred wants to help with the process. We are looking to improve the format and add more content making the newsletter a reflection of the website. Historian Report: Norm will be writing an article on past President and Zone representative, Paul Czopeck, for the region, it will also be featured in the El Portal. Goodie Store: Virginia sold some decals, zone badges, and a hat at the BBQ. Fred is going to build an ad for the zone grill badges that we can send to the other regions to help sell some of the surplus we have in stock. Drive Reviews: Tour to the Porsche Experience Center (LA) and Petersen Museum (July 11-13): Those that embarked on the journey had a great time. There were lots of curvy roads on the way down. those that chose to drive at the PEC had a lot of fun. Blackhawk Tour (July 22): 30 members attended, the drive over was fun and the lunch was great. Even though the Wild West exhibit was interesting, the downsizing of the cars was disappointing. EL PORTAL 5 SEPTEMBER 2018
New (& Old) Member BBQ (Aug. 5): We had 55 attendees and a few that just stopped in to say hi. Everyone seemed to have a good time, the food was awesome, featuring some great family recipes. Mercedes Vierra won the trivia quiz. The addition of the slide show was great. Next year we will make sure we have a script for the talk so we don t forget to recognize and thank certain individuals. We will also mention the names of our member new members. Newsworthy Information: Garage Tour #2: Rick Van Unen s garage (Aug. 18): George & Chuck did a pre-drive and had lunch at the Canal Street Bistro and reserved a table for the tour. We are currently at 10 attendees, Information on website, registration on Eventbrite. Lunch will be at Canal Street Bistro. Fall Election Nominations: This year we vote for Secretary & Treasurer. We will also be appointing replacements for Goodie Store Director, Historian and Safety Chair. Please submit your interest in any of these positions to the board via our president, Chuck Pierce. November Planning Meeting (Nov. 13): The club is buying the pizza you re bringing the ideas! Still looking for a location stay tuned. We are looking for a venue that will hold 25. Christmas Lunch / Toys for Tots Charity Event (Dec. 2): Redwood Cafe in Modesto is being tagged for this event, however we are not getting answers to our questions with their event planner. We will be checking out Greens in Modesto and Canal Street in Ripon as alternative venues. Pre-Rensport BBQ at Migliore Motorsport (Sept 22): George will confirm details and give information to Jen (for Eventbrite) and Don (for website) Other news: Jim Mazza offered the club a couple walkie/talkies for our drive events. Thanks Jim for helping us expand our collection. Fred has been reimbursed for the purchase of the club projector. Fred will take the lead on getting our assorted equipment properly labeled. Yosemite Tour 2018: We are looking at late Oct. for this years tour. The threat of fires may preclude us for having this event. Shasta Region has been devastated by the wildfires hitting so close to home this July. Many of us were just in the area for the Shasta Region Zone 7 Tour in June. The region had already decided if the tour had any surplus, it would go to local charities in the region. With additional sponsors and donations the region has donated $9000 towards Care for Carr Fire Relief Efforts. Way to go Shasta! We are so lucky to have WeatherTech Laguna Seca in our back yard. Did you know there is an IMSA race happening with a Porscheplatz at Laguna September 8th and 9th? Porsche Cars North American, PCNA, puts on the Porscheplatz tent.
