- 3 - Important The most important link in the delivery chain is the end user. The user must be satisfied with the product in terms of function, safety and aesthetics. No sale is complete unless the end user receives thorough training in all aspects of the care and use of the system. A complete instruction session with your customer is essential. Only the dealer and the health care professional can ensure that the system is set up properly and safely for the specific needs of the individual user. Training Installation and set-up of the Mutli-Axis Armrest should be completed by a trained technician or healthcare professional. If you are not certified as an installer, please arrange immediately for training by a Motion Concepts technician or sales agent who has been certified to teach installation and setup of the Cantilever Armrests. Every effort will be made to meet your training needs. Note: Before proceeding with the installation/ set-up, please ensure there are no pages are missing from this manual. - 6-2.0 Installation & Adjustment 2.1 Clamping Plate Installation tion The armrest clamping plate can be installed on either side of the seating system (as desired) along the length of the upper armrest tube. To install the armrest clamp assembly, remove the two inner screws on the clamp side of the assembly (as indicated in the images below). Install the lower clamp around the armrest tube and re-install the screws into the upper clamping plate to lock the assembly into place. Subsequent depth adjustments along the armrest tube can be made by loosening these screws and sliding the assembly along the armrest tube. Upper Clamping Plate armrest tube Lower Clamping Plate Important! The two outer screws in the multi-axis armrest mount assembly do not affect any adjustment features. To maintain the integrity of the assembly, these screws should not be loosened during installation.
- 7-2.0 Installation & Adjustment 2.2 Pivot Ball Adjustment The armrest mounting plate can be adjusted/ rotated to an infinite number of angles/ positions via the pivot ball assembly. To make adjustments, loosen* the ratchet handle just enough to free up the pivot ball. Rotate the armrest into the desired position and tighten the ratchet handle to secure the armpad into position. Figure 2.0 Armpad Mounting Plate *WARNING! Loss of the ball bearing component from the clamp assembly will severely inhibit the clamp locking capabilities. To eliminate this risk, DO NOT REMOVE the ratchet handle from the assembly. Pivot Ball Assembly Ball Bearing turn handle clockwise to tighten and lock armpad into position push buttom release** **NOTE: The ratchet design allows the handle to be re-positioned following installation, in order to prevent potential interference from a protruding handle. To re-position the handle, depress the button (on top of handle), rotate the handle to the desired position and release the button to lock it in place.
- 8-2.0 Installation & Adjustment 2.3 Arm m Pad P Installation tion The Multi-Axis Armrest Mount is compatible with a variety of armrest pads. The installation diagram below (Figure 3.0) is shown with the Contour Arm Trough/Pad and the Gel Armpad. Use the mounting hardware supplied with the armrest pad to install the armpad onto the mounting plate. The contour arm trough offers depth adjustment via the extruded slots on the underside of the armpad; However, to maximize the overall strength & stability of the assembly, the armpads should be centered as much as possible on the multi-axis mounting plate. When necessary, fore and aft adjustments may be made along the armrest tube via the clamping plate assembly. (note: the gel armpad offers only one fixed mounting location on the mounting plate - there is no fore and aft adjustment available via the arm pad itself) Figure 3.0 Gel Arm Pad Contour Arm Trough gel pad mounting plate T-nut multi-axis mounting plate
