Hydraulic steering systems DATA designs and manufactures several lines of marine hydraulic steering systems in complete ranges starting from 50 dan.m, as well as steering controls, power units and motor starters ensuring overall system responsibility for all types of commercial - pleasure boats & mega yachts. We have CE classification certificate for our steering systems suitable for boats upto 24 mts. in length. DATA hydraulic steering systems consist of a hydraulic pump and cylinder, connected by means of copper tubes, flexible high-pressure hoses or seamless steel tubes. The cylinder is of the double-acting type and the pump is of the axial piston type, with small pistons inside, which are actuated by the steering wheel. The manually operated system creates its hydraulic power through rotation of the steering wheel. DATA steering systems are designed to work under harsh marine conditions and made of corrosion resistant materials such as stainless steel piston rods with hard chrome cover, stainless steel helm pump shafts, marine grade die cast helm pump bodies, marine grade painting. Installation All you require is to install the pump and the cylinder to their working places and connect the pump to the cylinder by means of copper tubes, nylon hoses, flexible high-pressure hoses or seamless steel tubes. Maintenance When it is properly installed, with the help of its maintenance free design, Data steering system needs minimum maintenance. Reduction of the number of steering wheel revolutions It is the hydraulic cylinder, which determines the torque of a hydraulic steering system. When a reduced number of steering wheel revolutions from starboard to port is required, a steering pump with larger capacity should be selected. On the other hand, pump with larger capacity will cause relatively greater load on the steering wheel. An optimum selection should be made by checking technical specifications table. It should be remembered that when a larger diameter steering wheel is selected, the force to be applied to the steering wheel becomes relatively lower. The choice of the correct cylinder is determined by the rudder torque (in danm) which is effected by rudder blade dimensions and the speed of the vessel. Power operated hydraulic steering systems DATA offers various types of hydraulic power units complete with steering controls and motor starters that can be combined with the standard range of DATA hydraulic steering cylinders. Hydraulic power units can be 24 V DC, 220 V AC / 380 V AC electric motor driven or main engine driven meeting all customer requirements.

Steering gear accessories Tillers Available in different sizes for various types of hydraulic steering cylinders, produced with high strength cast steel material. Non return valves Type DKV 4 non-return valves are used in single control station systems. The non-return valve is fitted between hydraulic cylinder and helm pump, keeping the rudder steady under all conditions. Type DKV 6 non-return valves are used in dual control station (double helm pumps) systems. In addition to the non-return valve duty, it automatically seperates two pumps, while one pump is used the other is kept fixed. 5

Control panel and starter cabinet 24 VDC Hydraulic power unit Double cylindered steering systems Power units available for every size and combination of steering cylinders, Power units are driven by 24V DC, 220V AC, 380V AC electric motors or via belt drive. When the steering system is not used for a long time, the oil in the helm pump case may leak to the oil tank. To fill the helm pump case, the power units are fitted with auto-fill system which enables to fill the pump case when the power unit is switched on. Two identical cylinders can be connected by means of a parallel tie bar in order to obtain syncronised rudder movement. It is possible to control two rudders with single cylinder by disconnecting mechanically or by-passing hydraulically.

Double cylindered steering systems Beyond our single cylindered systems for pleasure boats & mega yachts, DATA has double cylindered hydraulic steering systems for commercial & offshore patrol vessels and naval. They are manufactured to provide long-term consistency, low maintenance and designed in accordance with all classification society rules including Turkish Lloyd, American Bureau of Shipping, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyd s Register, Bureau Veritas and Registro Navale Italiano. Their design torques differ from 1.100 dan.m upto 55.000 dan.m. How to choose a windlass? In order to select the proper windlass, you have to decide which type will be suitable for your boat. DZC 401 E DZC 1001 / 1002 H DZC 1201 / 1202 H/E DZC 1701 / 1702 H/E DZC 3301 / 3302 H/E Horizontal windlass This type is the classic anchor windlass design preferred by the most of the boat owners. They are entirely installed above the deck. Because of this reason, maintenance and installation operations for this type is more simple than the vertical types. All gear box components are protected by the body and the motor by the cover. With the help of this advantage, they are suitable for every kind of boat, sailboat or motorboat. Vertical windlasses look more aesthetic and offer more security for anchoring by making a 180 wrap around the gipsy. The inherent design of the vertical windlass requires at least 40 cm. of fall. This is to allow gravity to properly self-tail the chain through a 90 vertical turn into the anchor locker. Since most of the mechanical components are under the deck, maintenance operations are a slightly difficult than the horizontal anchor windlasses.

Hydraulic system DATA hydraulic system is specially designed to support any of the other hydraulic parts on board by means of modular control valves. It has been designed using the same demanding priorities as all other DATA parts, focusing on: Reliability, Safety, Performance, Easy & Safe installation, Easy Maintenance. Perhaps the most important feature of any complete hydraulic system is for it to be delivered as ready as possible for installation. DATA hydraulic systems require only the external hydraulic and electrical connections (which can only be done onboard), saving time and trouble for the installers. Our hydraulic systems are delivered with all necessary drawings and installation manuals to ensure an easy and correct installation and a lifetime of reliability. Chain stoppers DATA chain stoppers and compressors protect windlasses from unnecessary load and strain. When the anchor is stowed, devil s claw helps to decrease the tension on the chain with the help of brake wheel. It also acts to guard the moving chain and provides an elegant look in keeping with the windlass. Chain stoppers / compressors integrated with devil s claw suit to chains beginning from 14 mm. and are manufactured from mirror polished AISI 316 stainless steel. DATA recommends to use these equipments for additional safety.
