VAV/CAV BOXES COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS A guide to VAV/CAV, including our unique product range, consultancy service and accessories. INNOVATIVE VENTILATION & HEATING www.pricetwa.co.uk

At Price TWA we believe in providing a quality service with quality products, our approach is professional and knowledgeable and we hope to show this in everything we do we constantly strive to be the best. Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes are a dynamic ventilation product that can enable a comfortable indoor environment to be achieved. Our units control the required volume of airflow into a space and can operate across a wide range of volume flow rates. OUR SERVICE Our experienced engineers offer product selection based on building type, occupancy and duct size. We work closely with consultants and contractors to provide the most efficient ventilation solution. Our units are built to last using durable galvanised steel casing and designed to fit a range of duct sizes. To ensure effective operation we offer advice on installation, configuration and best practice support. DELIVERING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TO THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME

DELIVERING INDUSTRY EXPERTISE Price TWA was formed in 2008 from the merger of two leading heating and ventilation suppliers in the UK, Price Technical Ltd (Formed in 1997 to supply high quality ventilation and heating systems) and TWA Panels UK Ltd (formed in 2003 to supply radiant heating panels). Together we now offer one of the widest ranges of heating and ventilation solutions in the UK. We are recognised in the industry not only for excellent design and manufacture of heating and ventilation systems but also for maintaining strong relationships with both specifiers and contractors. This combined with our strong manufacturing background has set us among the very best of the UK s heating and ventilation solutions providers. OUR EXPERIENCE We have grown and adapted as the construction industry has, offering modern solutions to modern issues. We understand that every project has individual needs and always offer flexible informed solutions to meet the needs of every project. Years of experience and industry expertise will provide you with a solution that s cost effective, efficient and suited to your building s individual design and function. Within this brochure we cover our wide range of variable and constant air volume units. If you require alternative ventilation solutions please refer to our Product Solutions brochure. We operate from our manufacturing base in Bristol where we create and distribute our products. We have a dedicated team of sales engineers and representatives throughout the UK and Ireland offering exceptional customer service. OUR VAV/CAV BOXES TYPICAL VAV CONFIGURATION VELOCITY FLOW GRID DAMPER OPEN POSITION RUBBER SEAL (ON EDGE OF DAMPER) FRESH INTAKE FRESH SUPPLY Damper leakage exceeds EN 1751 Class 3 Casing leakage exceeds EN 1751 Class C OVAL DAMPER (IN CLOSED POSITION) ACTUATOR CONTROLLER (WITH NFC) Our Variable Air Volume (VAV) units enable the required amount of air to be delivered to a space for ventilation or cooling purposes. A control signal allows the actuator to adjust the damper position to increase, decrease, or shut off airflow. The amount of air flow is determined by the velocity flow grid which continuously measures air velocity in the system ductwork. This means that our VAV units can respond to environmental changes such as increased occupancy or cooling demand and adjust air flow according to signals from a local or central control system providing good air quality whilst avoiding excessive ventilation. CONSTANT SUPPLY Our VAV units can also act as a Constant Air Volume (CAV) unit providing a set amount of airflow independent of changes elsewhere in the system. Alternatively, we also offer mechanical CAV units that operate without a power supply. EFFICIENCY The velocity flow grid/diff-cross TM is used in all our VAV units to measure air velocity in the ductwork. The Diff-Cross TM very accurately calculates the air velocity by recording positive and negative pressure differences. This information allows the controller actuator to react to any changes and reposition the damper accordingly. THE DAMPER Each unit has a built-in damper with rubber seals that have the ability to shut off air flow to EN 1751 Class 3 on our circular dampers and EN 1751 Class 2 on our rectangular dampers. The angle of the damper is adjusted to restrict or supply the amount of airflow which is controlled by the actuator on VAV units or mechanically on a mechanical CAV unit. DELIVERING PRECISE FLOW CONTROL SOUND PERFORMANCE All our units have a double wall option which includes fire resistant acoustic lining. ASL & ASK attenuators are available for all our rectangular units to reduce sound output, some units have integral attenuators. OUR VAV/CAV UNITS OFFER PRECISE FLOW CONTROL REGULATIONS & GUIDELINES All our products can ensure relevant regulations are complied with, such as Building Regulations Part F & Part L. They can also offer significant energy savings. 4 www.pricetwa.co.uk +44 (0)1934 835900 VAV/CAV

THE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTROLLER ACTUATORS We use VAV controller actuators to operate our dampers and along with our Diff-Cross TM forms an integral part of the unit operation. These units require a signal from a local or central control system provided by others to operate to the air volume required by that control system. A correctly installed system using our design guidance would need no further adjustment on site, however where a suitable straight approach is not possible an adjustment tool can be used, either the handheld ZTH-EU adjuster or the Belimo Assistant App on a suitable device using Near Field Communication (NFC) built into the controller actuator. STANDARD CONTROLS LMV-D3-MP NMV-D3-MP (for larger units) Other controls available LonMark Modbus KNX BACnet COMPATIBLE CONTROL OPTIONS FAST ACTING ACTUATOR For a quick response to changes in air conditions the fast acting actuator will provide fast shutoff and damper re-positioning, typically used in fume cupboard applications.
