NUMBERING OF CLAUSES WITHIN RULE BOOK SECTIONS 1.1 Clauses within each of the Rule Book Sections (A to Z) are numbered in accordance with the following:- (a) Rule Book No. 2 Each Section that is contained within Rule Book No. 2 has the clauses numbered in accordance with the following:- Clause (b) Rule Book Nos. 3 to 13 Heading 1a Principle 1b Method or Definitions 2 Your duties and the duties of others that you need to know All of the Sections which make up each of these Rule Books are numbered as follows:- Clause Heading 1 Principle 2 Method or Definitions X Your duties and the duties of others that you need to know X = The Number of the Rule Book concerned (i.e. 3, 4, 5 to 13) 1.2 You will observe from the above clause numbering sequences that under the heading 'Your duties and the duties of others that you need to know' which makes up the vast majority of the text in every Section, each clause has its own individual number, with the first digit of each clause number identifying the Rule Book concerned. AMENDMENTS TO THIS RULE BOOK Amendments to this Rule Book will be published as follows:- By issue of a Supplement to this Rule Book containing the amendments published on replacement pages. Any amendments which are implemented between Supplements will be published in the Periodical Operating Notice, which is issued on the first Saturday of February, April, June, August, October and December. If you do not receive or have access to a Periodical Operating Notice, amendments will also be published in the catalogue of Railway Group Standards which is issued by Railtrack Safety and Standards Directorate. This is published twice a year with updates at two monthly intervals to coincide with the Periodical Operating Notice. It is the responsibility of your Company's Document Controller to make sure that if you do not receive or have access to a Periodical Operating Notice, you are made aware of any amendments published in the Catalogue which affect you. If an amendment needs to be published urgently and cannot wait until the next issue of the Periodical Operating Notice, it will appear in the Weekly Operating Notice. GLOSSARY OF TERMS AND ABBREVIATIONS Where the following terms have been used in this Rule Book, you must understand them to include or mean the following, unless otherwise shown in the text. Definitions not included in this summary can be found in the appropriate Section of this Rule Book. THE TERM:- Absolute Block Alive Aspect ATWS INCLUDES OR MEANS:- A signalling system which allows only one train to be in the Block Section at the same time Charged with electricity The visual indication of a colour light signal as displayed to the Driver Automatic Track Warning System - A warning system which detects an approaching train and automatically alerts persons who are on or near the line by means of lineside or individual warning systems and is sufficiently portable to be brought to a site of work and temporarily installed for the period of the work. (Note: This definition does not include TOWS - see separate entry in this Glossary) Automatic Level Includes any of the following level crossings:- Crossing Automatic half-barrier (AHB) Automatic barrier crossing, locally monitored (ABCL Automatic open crossing, locally monitored (AOCL) Miniature red/green warning lights (R/G) Barrow Crossing A crossing (often at the end of a platform) for use by railway employees. Protection, if provided, is by means of a steady white light Bi-Directional Line Block Indicator Block Section A line on which the signalling allows for trains running in both directions An instrument which indicates the state of the line between adjacent signal boxes (Absolute Block Signalling) The section of line between the Section signal of one signal box and the Home signal of the next signal box ahead 06/2001 Page (xi)

Brakevan Any vehicle with a brake compartment Braking Distance The distance a train needs in which to stop or to reduce speed, from travelling at a given speed Catch Points Central Door Locking Competent Person Conductor Rail Deceleration Distance Points provided for derailing a vehicle(s) running back on a gradient in the wrong direction. These points may be unworked if trains normally pass over the points in one direction only A secondary locking system fitted to certain slam door stock and controlled by the Guard which prevents passengers from opening the doors A person who has been passed as being qualified and having the required knowledge and skills to carry out a particular Rule, Regulation, Instruction or Procedure A rail through which electricity is supplied to electric powered trains The minimum distance at which a Warning Indicator (for a permissible speed) or a Warning Board (for a temporary or emergency speed restriction) must be positioned approaching the start of the change in speed to which it applies Defective On-Train Equipment which:- On-Train (a) is not performing its intended safety function, either Eqiupment fully or in part, or (b) is isolated, or (c) is missing Detection Detonator Driver Only (or D.O. train) Electrical or mechanical means of proving that a set of points and associated locking, where provided, are in the correct position A small disc-shaped warning device, designed to be placed on the rail head for protection and emergency purposes, which explodes when a train passes over it A train that is worked only by a Driver and does not have a Guard Page (xii) 06/2001

Driver 's Reminder Appliance (DRA) Electrified Line Engineering Train Facing Points Facing Point Lock Goods Line Ground Frame Hand Points Home Signal In Service Intermediate Block Section A device in a Driving cab to enable the Driver to set a reminder that the signal ahead is at Danger. Whilst set, the DRA prevents the Driver from being able to take power A line which is electrified either by 25,000 volt AC overhead lines or by 750 volt DC conductor rail(s) Includes an on-track machine Points where two routes diverge Equipment that physically locks the points so that they cannot move A line which has not been signalled to the standard required for running passenger trains A control point containing levers or switches to permit the local operation of points in running lines and sidings, and where provided, the associated signals. This local operation is only possible when a release is given by the controlling signal box. Also includes a ground switch panel Points which are worked manually by an independent lever The first stop signal on the approach to a signal box using the Absolute Block system of signalling A train is in service from the time it starts its journey until the time it completes its journey. Intermediate Block Home Signal Interlocking Journey Junction Signal Level Crossing Lever Local Manager Main Aspect Maintenance Depot A signal controlling the exit from an intermediate block section A general term applied to equipment which controls the setting and releasing of signals and points to prevent an unsafe condition of the signalling system arising during the passage of trains The route between the depot, siding, platform line or other authorised place where the train enters service and the depot, siding, platform line or other authorised place where the train:- (a) reaches its destination, or (b) is required to reverse before continuing to its destination, or (c) is required to have a vehicle(s) attached or detached, or (d) is required to terminate short of its destination, as a result of:- infrastructure fault, or line blockage, or defective on-train equipment, or any other operational reason Note: this also applies to short distance shunting movements A signal that controls more than one running route and can display an indication of route Any manned, automatic or open crossing shown in Table A of the Sectional Appendix Push button, switch or other controlling device for operating signalling or level crossing equipment Where authorised, includes a person who is a Supervisor and has been passed as competent in the appropriate Rules and Regulations The red, yellow, double yellow, flashing yellow, double flashing yellow or green aspect of a colour light signal A location defined in a Train Operator's Contingency Plan with the facilities to repair or replace specified items of defective on train equipment Page (xiv) 06/2002

Manned Level Includes any of the following level crossings:- Crossing Operated locally by a Signaller or Crossing Keeper (MCB or LC) Remotely controlled (RC) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Traincrew operated (TMO) Mechanical Points No Block Line One Train Working Operations Control Open Level Crossing Out of Service Overhead Line Equipment Overlap Passenger Service Points which are mechanically operated without any form of power operation A line on which there is no monitoring of the condition of the block section by the Signaller Method of signalling on a single line, with or without a train staff where only one train at a time is permitted The general term applied to Railtrack Zonal Control offices An unmanned level crossing without barriers or road traffic warning lights, and equipped only with signs A train is out of service between the time that it completes its journey and the time it starts another journey. A vehicle is out of service when it forms part of a train which is out of service, or when it has been detached from a train in a depot, siding, platform line or other authorised place. Note: The detraining of passengers does not in itself mean a train has been taken out of service The equipment suspended over the railway line for supplying electricity to electric trains, and includes the overhead wires, insulators and any associated equipment A section of line beyond a stop signal which must be unoccupied before the signal next in rear can display a proceed aspect A train which is in service carrying passengers 06/2002 Page (xv)
