When unpacking the package of your new Purivox Carousel Triplex V you will find the following components: 1. Electronic unit (Black plastic box, with wires and hoses; picture 1) 2. One Sound tube with screws 3. One cross bar ( rotating arm ) 4. One bag containing the chain 5. One bag containing the tripod bearing block 6. A gas regulator with hose and double nipple ( to be screwed to the propane gas bottle ) 7. Three tripod legs ( each leg consisting out of two tubes, which become stuck together ) 8. Three foot parts ( 2 for 19,5mm, 1 for 15,5mm) It is advisable to become familiar with all parts before proceeding with the assembly of the Purivox Carousel Triplex V.
The Electronic unit The controller is in a black weatherproof plastic box. To get to the operating elements, lift up the protective cover. Inside there are: Battery compartment Timer Switch for shot sequence Volume switch Switch for number of shots Outside are: On/Off switch Ignition cable with ignition plug and earth cable Magnetic valve with hoses (picture 2.)
Insert the battery Before installing the batteries, ensure that the On/Off switch located on the outside of the electronic unit is in the O ( Off ) position. To install the batteries, gently pull-up on the battery plate lock while lightly pressing the battery plate lock towards the timer (picture 3.1) Insert two 6-volt lantern style batteries into the battery compartment. The orientation of the batteries is not important; just ensure that the spring terminals of each battery are facing up (picture 3.2) Now insert the battery plate into the slot located on the back wall of the battery compartment (picture 3.3) and press the opposite side of the battery plate down until into position (picture 3.4) IMPORTANT: The batteries MUST be removed when the unit is stored for winter. Setting the shot Frequency The slide switch for setting the shot frequency is on the board inside the Electronic unit box, with the switch you can set the interval time between the shot sequences. You can select the time frame, within a time frame is the pause, random controlled to avoid a habituation effect. The setting is as follows: Switch position Pause time 1 Pause of 2 4 minutes 2 Pause of 4 8 minutes 3 Pause of 8 16 minutes 4 Pause of 16 32 minutes We recommend the following position of the switch: on 1 for starling on 2 for blackbird, song thrush, finch, sparrow on 3 for pigeon, crow on 4 for heron, wild boar, brant, roe deer
If the number of birds and wild animals is not so strong than it is possible to increase the number of breaks. In our experience an intensive multi-shot with longer breaks is much better than a very often bang. The best thing is to start with a setup that bangs not so often. Only when the number of birds an wild animals is getting bigger than change the switch (for example from 3 to 2) to reduce the pause interval. Setting the volume The PURIVOX Carousel Triplex V can be used with two different volumes. To get the loudest volume the slid-switch on the board in the electronic unit must be on B. If it should be quieter than the switch must be on A. Inside switch on position A = Reduced sound in 100m distance circa 90db(A) Inside switch on position B = Full sound in 100m distance circa 96 db(a) Minimum distance to living areas on position A (depends on shot-direction and shotfrequency) During the day: circa 650m distance During the night: circa 1000m distance Setting the number of shots Change of the number of shots, only when the unit is turned off. Wait 15 seconds before turning the unit on again. 1 shot = both switches down 2 shots = left up; right down 3 shots = left down; right up 4 shots = both switches top
Setting the timer The adjustable timer is located inside the electronic unit. When the batteries are used, the timer starts to work. To set the clock, open the clear plastic cover which is for protecting the clock. - Setting the timer actual time By turning the inner disc clockwise the currernt time is set to the arrow. One turn is means one hour. When you see the clock like one the picture it is midnight and when you want to have midday just turn the inner disk 12 turns clockwise. The nose at the disk is ment to be the minutes, when this nose shows up it is one hour, to the right a ¼ hour, down a ½ hour and left a ¾ hour. - Setting the working time The clock is set at the factory so that the device works 24 hours. All cams are pushed outwards. To set the pause time the cams are must be engaged. Each cam is for a periode of 30 minutes. This means: Cam outside: unit operates Cam inside: pause The shot-time should be temporization to the local conditions. We recommend to watch the feedig time of the animals and than set the clock with the screwdriver.(there is one screwdriver inside the electronic unit) Caution: Turn the clock never anticlockwise!! Setting the timer - example You want the device: Start at 6.00 am to work All day running Stop at 9.00 pm with working A break between 1.00 2.00 pm 1. Open the plastic cover 2. Press all cams after 6 to the outside until you have reached 21. The unit is now working from 6 am to 9 pm. 3. For the break, press the two cams between 13 and 14 inside. 4. Close the plastic cover. When everything is done, close the weather proof plastic protecting cover.
Assembly Instruction 1) Make sure that the control is turned off. ( 0 position) 2) Fasten the control unit with the washer, spring washer and wing nut (these parts can be found at the bottom of the control unit) on the outermost hole of the cross bar, so that the cables and hoses shows to the opposite side. 3) Fasten the sound tube to the control unit (parts can be found on the sound tube), so that the hole for the spark plug shows in direction of the control unit. 4) Screw the spark plug (# 101440) and the ground wire (# 104390) in the sound tube. Important: If the components are not assembled properly, the carousel doesn t work right 5) Remove the propane jet (# 100412) from the gas hose (# 100381). Screw the propane jet into the jet bracket (# 101760) on the bottom of the sound tube and slide the gas hose over the propane jet.
6) The tripod bearing block (# 102070) is than attached to the cross bar (# 102090) 7) The second gas hose from the electronic unit must be pushed through the bearing tube in the middle of the cross bar. 8) Attach the three tripod legs to the tripod bearing block. Use first the lower tripod legs (the tubes with the spring clips) and connect them with the upper tripod legs (straight tube). Each of the three tripod legs gets on foot part, after that every complete tripod leg gets attached to the tripod bearing block. The 3 rd tripod leg is adjustable in length to hold the balance on uneven floor. To change the length, loose the wing nut, slide the tube to the needed length than tighten the wing nut. 9) Make sure that the connectors on the propane gas bottle and at the gas regulator are clean. Attach and tighten the gas regulator to the propane gas bottle (left-hand thread). If the gas regulator or the connections are not clean gas can flow out. 10) Use the attached double nipple on the hose of the gas regulator and connect them to the gas hose that comes through the tripod bearing block from the control unit. 11) One end of the chain (# 108080) is attached to the hole of the bearing tube (#106140). Now guide the chain through the handles of the propane gas bottle and attach the other end of the chain on the opposite side of the bearing tube. The heel of the chains should be inside the bearing tubes that the sharp end can t be damaged the gas hoses. The bottle must be hanging free from the ground.
Starting the Purivox Carousel Triplex V Start with the following things: 1) Turn the On/Off switch (outside of the electronic unit) to the 0 position. 2) Open the propane gas bottle. 3) Start now the electronic unit (switch to position 1 ). Immediately after switching will a following sound playing: short-long-short. At long sound is playing at each ignition. A long sound is also playing every 5 seconds between the triplets. For failures of the valve control or under-voltage a short sound is playing every 0,3 seconds. Between the start sound and the first triple shot is a permanent brake of 10 seconds. A change in the internal switch position takes place only with the next long sound. Approach to interference Purivox Carousel Triplex V doesn t bang: 1) Check the gas bottle capacity; remove the gas hose from the solenoid valve and dip the hose into a bucket of water and open the gas valve. Smoke and open fire in this situation can be a huge risk of life! 2) If the gas bubbles in the water check the hose for leaks. 3) Check the hose connections on the solenoid valves. Is the direction of the gas flow the same as the arrow on the solenoid valve? Don t kink the hoses. 4) Is the propane jet from the jet hose screwed into the injector? 5) Battery check: Each battery must be have a voltage of 5 volts. Is the transmitter in function? If necessary check the voltage of batteries with a voltmeter in the workshop of your dealer. If the voltage dropped to 0,9 volts, replace the batteries. Notes: If the device is not in use you have to in order to avoid damage to the electronic units by leaking batteries remove the batteries mandatory. Close the unit and store it dry. 6) Is the time at the timer set correctly? Maybe control. 7) Is the outside switch at position 1? 8) Spark control. Is the spark cable intact? If the cable is damaged, please don t fix it by yourself! Warning: High voltage spark! Distance between the electrodes of the ignition spark should be circa 3mm. Function control without gas flow! Hold ignition spark together with the earth cable to the metal bracket. Don t touch the spark gap with your fingers while switching the unit ON. Don t run the earth cable and spark cable next to each other. 9) The unit has a self reset security safety element. Please watch out for potentiality shot circuits between the connecters. Purivox Carousel Triplex V bangs at times, when it shouldn t bang. 10) Timer is set wrong 11) The timer has no internal battery. So after removing the batteries or when the batteries are empty, the time must be reset when new batteries are used.
