Hot Summer Daze in the Heart of Texas P A G E 2 V O L U M E 8 I S S U E 7 The daytime thermometer readings seem to be glued above 100 F in the HEART OF TEXAS. These temperatures are not conducive to a fun time when driving our non AC equipped cars, especially if the ride is out of town. But even so, Yolanda and I have managed to attend a couple of cruise nights in our home town of WACO. I have not been in touch with other members to know if they too are staying at home or getting out to see other cars. Mixed make car shows and cruises are the norm in our area. Even though there are four South Texas Chapter members in our town, seeing a Hudson at a meet is not the norm. I am always pleased when a person recognizes our HUDSON as a HUDSON! Recently several people have told me about other HET cars in the area. My goal is to find the owners and get them introduced to our national and local chapter. With that introduction we are planning ahead for the coming months chapter meetings. Talking with Ken Fulton our tour director, he has told me that current business and family commitments are leaving 0 time for him to look into future chapter meeting places or events. So in light of that we all need to step up and provide places to meet in the future. After my discussion with Ken Fulton and coordination with President Lemmon, Yolanda and I are putting forth two meetings for the next few months. The first will be attendance at a local charity mixed make car show held August 25th in China Springs Texas. This shows proceeds are sent to SHRINER HOSPITALS in Texas so there is an entry fee of $30. Not something we normally do but the sponsors were quite adamant that in all the time they have had this show, ZERO Hudsons have participated! This is our August 2018 meet. Yolanda and I will participate and we hope a whole bunch more will too! There is NO COST for spectators or folks who do not display their cars. Yolanda and I are also sponsoring a meet to be held in Waco in October. Information on that meeting is in the meeting area of this newsletter too. We invited the North Texas Hudson Dealers to come to this meet too! Hope that members can attend and drive a Hudson to the August and October planned meetings. Our last meeting at the Dead Fish Grill included a discussion about meetings and one place members brought up was the OSCAR STORE. So with that in mind the void between August and October is now filled with a OSCAR STORE meeting in SEPTEMBER 2018. Between now and then maybe we can come up with an additional idea for a place to explore/visit on that day too? Respectfully Submitted by Kenneth Cates, Secretary Approved by Rodney Lemmon, President

The following diagram shows one safe way to wire your fan for reliable operation. This diagram will work for either 6 or 12 volt electrical systems. In the case of 6 volt positive ground systems, make sure that your fan will operate with this type of electrical system

That means at the time of paying your South Texas dues you must have paid your dues to the national club. Our membership chairperson will check your eligibility by accessing the national membership data base. Once your membership in the national club is validated your membership information will be entered onto the roles of our chapter. You payment will be forwarded to our treasurer for deposit in the chapter bank account. To make the process easier for you a copy of a national as well as a South Texas Chapter membership has been attached. If you are a computer and Internet user you can find the National Membership signup at the HET online webpage where there are opportunities for you to signup via electronic means with is nearly instantaneous. It includes a monthly newsletter to keep you informed that is emailed every month to the email you provided the membership chairperson. This is a great way to make sure we are all getting current information covering current and future activities. Even with a newsletter, our club is dedicated to sharing our experiences as HET owners. This sharing is best done during the fellowship one experiences at a chapter meet. So, please attend a meet and bring you family in your HET if possible. We miss seeing you and your family!
