Function (Fig. 1) ROBA -slip hubs re used to protect ginst overlod in mchine drives with sprocket wheels or toothed wheels. The drive element (sprocket wheel or similr) is pushed onto the bering bushing (7) nd clmped between the friction linings (6) using the thrust wsher (2), the s (5) nd the djusting nut (3) with lock wsher (13). The more the s (5) re compressed by the djusting nut (3), the higher is the torque t which the drive element slips. For n exct description of the torque djustment, plese see pges 7 nd 8. The ROBA -slip hub is subjected to therml lods depending on the slipping speed, slipping time nd the set torque. The friction performnce prmeters must not be exceeded so tht the friction linings on the ROBA -slip hub re not overheted or destroyed. The vlues presented in the reference vlue digrm re reference vlues, nd represent mximum slipping speed limits. These speed limits refer to mx. slipping speed of 1 s. The slipping speed must be reduced for longer slipping times. If in doubt, plese crry out ppliction-relted friction work clcultions. If the permitted slipping durtion is exceeded, the ROBA -slip hub will be subjected to overlod => Destruction of the friction linings Use slip monitor (speed monitor) to monitor the slipping speed. Additionl Instructions for Types 13_. _ For ll Types 13_. _, dditionl instructions regrding instlltion, permitted shft mislignments nd further technicl dt for the shft coupling re prt of the delivery. The following Additionl Instructions re included in delivery: For Type 131: B.1.3.GB For Type 132: B.1.1.GB For Type 133: B.9.0.GB For Type 134: B.9.0.GB For Type 135: B.1.7.GB Friction Linings Tble 1 (see below) shows the four different types of friction linings tht re vilble. The torque nd speed vlues stted in the slip hubs ctlogue refer to stndrd friction linings in dry running. For ll other friction linings, plese see Tble 1 for the corresponding vlues, or request the vlues for the respective ppliction. Tble 1 Friction lining We recommend tht you replce the friction linings t the ltest fter they hve worn down by 0,5 x dimension "s" (see Tble 4 / pge 6) per friction lining. ROBA -slip hubs in stndrd delivery feture finish bore (bore tolernce H7) nd keywy cc. DIN 6885 (keywy tolernce JS9). We recommend k6 tolernce for the shft. For other tolernces, plese contct the mnufcturers. If the order does not contin ny informtion on the instlltion width of the drive element (sprocket wheel or similr), the bering bushing (7) is delivered with mximum width. Rustproof Friction Piring The stndrd friction lining might estblish rust connection with grey iron nd steel surfces. This could increse the slip torque substntilly. Therefore, it is possible to equip ROBA -slips with rustproof friction piring (friction lining No. 2). This piring consists of two rustproof steel wshers (Item 18), which re brced in the slip hub, nd two specil friction linings (Item 17), which do not stick (Fig. 8). 28 30 16 12 29 Fig. 9 Y A Fig. 8 1 7 18 17 17 18 2 A ground 0,8 1,6 b ground 0,8 Importnt Instlltion Guidelines The bores, shfts, friction linings nd friction surfces on the drive element must be free of grese nd oil. Bering Bushing (Items 7, 23, 27) If the order does not contin ny informtion on the instlltion width of the drive element (sprocket wheel or similr), the bering bushing (7) is delivered for mximum instlltion width (b mx). If lower instlltion width vlue thn b mx is required, the bering bushing must be shortened t the end without n inside chmfer. The bering bushing must be mounted with the inner chmfer fcing forwrd, s shown in Fig. 12. inner chmfer Fig. 13 Sizes 0-5 bering bushing Fig. 12 Bering bushing width stndrd friction piring = instlltion width + 1,5 x friction lining width + 0,5 mm Fig. 14 Sizes 0-5 Bering bushing width rustproof friction piring = instlltion width + 1,5 x friction lining width + 2x width rustproof wsher + 0,5 mm At high rdil lods nd high slipping frequency, we recommend using slip hub with needle bering. Needle Bering (30) As it is not possible to djust the needle bering (30) length to the instlltion width "b", the instlltion width "b" on Type 160 is predefined (see Tble 4). Plese bore the drive element using bore tolernce of N7, nd press it onto the needle bering s shown in Fig. 9. Torque Adjustment Sizes 0-5 Both mbient conditions nd longer downtimes cn influence the set slip torque. On triple, more slip torque scttering might occur specific to the respective lod. The vlues in the Adjustment Tble re only guideline vlues. During initil djustment, plese let the ROBA -slip hub slip severl times t 50 % of the mximum torque in order to chieve cler friction lining wer pttern. Due to wer on the lining, occsionl re-djustment my be necessry depending on the slipping frequency. Due to tolernces, the torque djustment vlues cn only be considered guideline vlues. Torque djustment on stndrd djusting nut (3) s (5) single- or double-lyered There re 12 mrkings engrved on the thrust wsher (2) fcing side (Size 0: 24 mrkings), nd 4 mrkings engrved on the djusting nut (3) (Fig. 20). The distnce dimension "" (see Fig. 21) indictes the size of the djusted slip torque independent of friction lining wer. For the respective required dimension "" dependent on the for certin slip torque, plese see the Adjustment Tbles on pge 9 (Tbles 6-11). After torque djustment is completed, the djusting nut must be secured by turning the rdilly rrnged set screw into hub keywy. Clmping the thred s in Fig. 24 is not permitted. If necessry, the djusting nut my hve to be turned. Torque Adjustment Sizes 6-12 on stndrd djusting nut (14) During initil djustment, plese let the ROBA -slip hub slip severl times t 50 % of the mximum torque in order to chieve cler friction lining wer pttern. Due to wer on the lining, occsionl re-djustment my be necessry depending on the slipping frequency. Fig. 21 On slip hubs Sizes 6-12, the distnce dimension "" indictes the size of the djusted slip torque (Fig. 22). For Sizes 6-8, dimension "" is indicted in the Adjustment Tble dhered onto the clutch. For Sizes 9-12, n djustment digrm must be requested if required. Adjust the djusting nut (14) inc. relxed suspension bolts (the suspension bolts (9) protrude from the djusting nut (14)) to the required dimension "" using fce wrench. Here, the fce wrench pilots must be inserted into two hexgon sockets of the suspension bolts (9) in order to turn the djusting nut (14). Snpring 14 9 Do not continue to turn the suspension bolts (19) ginst the snp ring resistnce (Fig. 22). Fig. 22 After djustment is completed, the djusting nut (14) must be secured by screwing the rdilly rrnged set screw (22) into one of the 4 hub keywys. Clmping the thred s in Fig. 24 is not permitted. If necessry, the djusting nut (14) my hve to be turned. Then the suspension bolts (9) re turned in evenly, in steps of pproximtely 1/4 turns, until they re flush with the djusting nut (14) (Fig. 23). flush 14 9 The torque djustment tbles cn only be considered s guideline vlues, s they cn vry substntilly due to tolernces, friction vlue fluctutions nd surfce chrcteristics or the run-in condition of the output element. Exct torque djustment requires mnufcturer-side djustment on test stnd (preferbly using the customer-side provided output element) or direct torque mesurement on the instlled clutch or system.
