Collaborative city distribution in Gothenburg (operation) Collaborative city distribution for; increased efficiency Increased filling-rate improved economic result lower environmental impact. 100 vehicles involved through one of northern Europe's largest logistics terminals at the logistics operators DB-Schenker and TGM 2014-11-11 4
Electrified city distribution in Gothenburg (feasibility project) The study indicates transition from conventional vehicles to electrified city distribution vehicles. Minimizing financial risk, addressing policy measures, Total Cost of Ownership etc. 2014-11-11 5

European Bus System of the Future demo bus for next generation BRT Increased Productivity EBSF VOLVO Demonstrator Dwell time 5,75 min (-25%). Average speed 25 Km/h. (+4%) Capacity 139 passengers (+20%) Required no of buses 12,1 (-18%) Total yearly savings 169 K (Diff +562 K ) EBSF is coordinated by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) 2014-11-11 7
Example research project: Cooperative Systems 可持续运输和节能的合作体系 加强客车交叉路口生态驾驶支持 集成交通灯 生态驾驶支持下拥挤防范 - 集成停靠站 智能速度适应性 集成交通管理 2014-11-11 8
Green Light Optimal Speed Advice (pilot project) Optimal speed adaptiation On-board system calculates optimal speed range to cross intersection in green (based on position). Driver is coached to drive in the speed range Safety margins Yellow phase is not considered Some seconds as margin to cross intersection Speed limits Driver is coached to follow the limits, depending on the road segment (based on map data) Different speed limits for different road segments Can be customized, fixed or dynamic, example: max speed 50km/h for buses 2014-11-11 9
Hybrid buses in operation Experiences; High reliability 39% less fuel consumption in the city 25% less traffic in regions 50% less NOx and PM Increased passenger capacity Silent electric take-off Pay-back within 5-7 years (depending on fuel price) 2014-11-11 10
Go:Smart (pilot project) The bus adapts to the city/environment based upon it s position using a GPS. Switch between diesel on the motorway to electric mode within the city Limit speed / drive mode depending on time of day Better usage of shared spaces Improved air quality Less noise emissions Improved safety! 2014-11-11 11
ElectriCity Demonstration project Quiet, emission-free and fuelefficient electric buses from Volvo Electric bus service between Johanneberg Science Park and Lindholmen Science Park Includes future bus stop solutions, ITS solutions, safety concepts, green depot and energy solutions Tests and demonstrates new ways to travel by public transport Starts 2015! Lindholmen Science Park Johanneberg Science Park 2014-11-11 12
ElectriCity Demonstration project The bus is equipped with an electric motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery. It also has a 5-litre diesel engine. Charging is done from electricity grids via a collector installed on the roof of the bus. It takes 6-10 minutes. The bus will run ~7 km at a time on electricity only silent and emission-free. Volvo Bus. Göteborg Energi, Business Region Göteborg, Trafikkontoret and Västtrafik. The project is partly financed by Life+, the EU s financing program for environmental projects. 2014-11-11 13
Towards the moving society of tomorrow! Urban transports solutions Urban goods logistics (Collaborative logistics) Public transport solutions (eg. ElectriCity) Waste handling Transport capacity increase by better use of existing infrastructure (night delivery, corridors, consolidation) Alternative fuels and energy sources are already on the market Harmonized solutions require harmonized policies and regulations Collaborative efforts needed to bring innovations from pilots and demos to full scale deployment 14 2014-11-11
