General instructions for lifting with Dhatec Pipe Hooks - Before lifting check if the working load limit of the Pipe Hook and main Shackle is sufficient for the weight of the pipe. The Pipe Hook Standard comes with a shackle pin whereas Pipe Hook Premium is to be used together with a main shackle provided by Dhatec. - Remove grease and dirt from the Pipe Hook and Shackle so the equipment can be checked properly. - Check visually if the Pipe Hook or shackle is damaged, cracks or deformation (which is indicative of overload). In case of any doubts, please contact Dhatec before using the equipment. - Inspect the plastic parts of the Pipe Hook for wear and defects (the plastic parts must be free of contamination, dry and undamaged). The plastic parts must be replaced when the wear and tear or damages exceeds 10mm. - Each type of Pipe Hook has its specific lifting angle. Below you can find the required lifting angles for the Pipe Hook Standard and Pipe Hook Premium. α = 0-60 α = 30-90 α α Figure 7. Lifting angle Pipe Hook Standard Figure 8. Lifting angle Pipe Hook Premium - Connect the Pipe Hook to the lifting equipment (make sure all attachment devices are approved and certified for the corresponding tonnage). - Place the Pipe Hook as deep as possible in the pipe, until it sits firmly in the back end of the jaws. Make sure that the hook is positioned in such a way as to balance the load when it is being lifted. - Lift steadily to allow effective gripping by the Pipe Hooks. - Make sure the load is stably positioned before the Pipe Hooks are removed. Pay attention to your own safety and to that of people around you! Keep a safe distance during lifting operations and never walk or stand under a lifted load. Page 6 of 7

The Pipe Hook must be placed completely inside the pipe until it sits firmly in the back end of the Pipe Hook: - There should be no distance between the pipe and vertical part of the Pipe Hook.
