1 Preface and general nformaton 1 Preface and general nformaton 1.1 How to use these Operatng Instructons These Operatng Instructons nform about safety-relevant workng on and wth electromagnetc clutch-brake combnatons. They contan safety nformaton whch must be observed. All persons workng on or wth the electromagnetc clutch-brake combnatons must have the Operatng Instructons avalable and observe the nformaton and notes relevant for them. The Operatng Instructons must always be n a complete and perfectly readable state. 1.2 Termnology used Term CBC Drve system In the followng text used for Electromagnetc clutch-brake combnaton Drve system wth electromagnetc clutch-brake combnaton and other drve components 1.3 Scope of supply The drve systems are combned ndvdually accordng to a modular desgn. The scope of delvery s ndcated n the accompanyng papers. After recept of the delvery, check mmedately whether t corresponds to the accompanyng papers. INTORQ does not grant any warranty for defcences clamed subsequently. Clam vsble transport damage mmedately to the forwarder. vsble defcences / ncompleteness mmedately to INTORQ GmbH & Co.KG. 5

1 Preface and general nformaton 1.4 Drve systems 1.4.1 Labellng Drve systems and drve components are clearly labelled and defned by the ndcatons on the nameplates. Manufacturer: INTORQ GmbH & Co KG, Wülmser Weg 5, D-31855 Aerzen The clutch-brake combnatons are also suppled as ndvdual parts. The user combnes them as desred. Specfcatons, especally nameplate and type code are vald for the clutch-brake combnatons. If ndvdual parts are suppled, there s no dentfcaton. 1.5 Legal regulatons Lablty The nformaton, data and notes n these Operatng Instructons met the state of the art at the tme of prntng. Clams referrng to drve systems whch have already been suppled cannot be derved from the nformaton, llustratons and descrptons. We do not accept any lablty for damage and operatng nterference caused by: napproprate use unauthorsed modfcatons to the drve system mproper workng on and wth the drve system operatng faults dsregardng these Operatng Instructons Warranty Terms of warranty: see terms of sale and delvery of INTORQ GmbH & Co. KG. Warranty clams must be made to INTORQ mmedately after detectng defects or faults. The warranty s vod n all cases where lablty clams cannot be made. 6

2 Safety nstructons 2 Safety nstructons 2.1 General safety nformaton These safety notes do not clam to be complete. If any questons or problems occur, please contact INTORQ GmbH & Co. KG. The clutch-brake combnaton met the state of the art at the tme of delvery and s generally safe to operate. The clutch-brake combnaton endangers persons, the clutch-brake combnaton tself and other propertes of the user f non-qualfed personnel work on and wth the clutch-brake combnaton. the clutch-brake combnaton s used napproprately. The clutch-brake combnatons must be planned n such a way that f they are correctly nstalled and used for ther desgned purpose n fault-free operaton, they fulfl ther functon and do not put any persons at rsk. Ths also apples to the nteracton thereof wth the overall system. Take approprate measures to ensure that a falure of the clutch-brake combnaton wll not lead to damage to materal. Do not operate the clutch-brake combnaton unless t s n perfect condton. Retrofttng, modfcatons and changes of the clutch-brake combnaton are generally forbdden. In any case, INTORQ GmbH & Co. KG must be contacted beforehand. The frcton lnng and the frcton surfaces must by no means have contact to ol or grease snce even small amounts reduce the brake torque consderably. The brake torque wll usually not be nfluenced f the brake s used under the envronmental condtons that apply to IP44. Because of the numerous possbltes of usng the brake, t s however necessary to check the functonalty of all mechancal components under the correspondng operatng condtons. 7

2 Safety nstructons 2.2 Personnel responsble for safety Operator An operator s any natural or legal person who uses the sprng-appled brake or on whose behalf the sprng-appled brake s used. The operator or hs safety personnel must ensure that all relevant regulatons, notes and laws wll be compled wth, that only qualfed personnel wll work on and wth the drve system, that the Operatng Instructons wll be avalable to the personnel workng on and wth the brake at all tmes, that unqualfed personnel wll not be allowed to work on and wth the sprng-appled brake. Sklled personnel Sklled personnel are persons who -because of ther educaton, experence, nstructons, and knowledge about correspondng standards and regulatons, rules for the preventon of accdents, and operatng condtons - are authorsed by the person responsble for the safety of the plant to perform the requred actons and who are able to recognse potental hazards. (See IEC 364, defnton of sklled personnel) 2.2.1 Applcaton as drected Drve systems are ntended for use n machnery and systems. must only be used for the purposes ordered and confrmed. must only be operated under the ambent condtons prescrbed n these Operatng Instructons. must not be operated beyond ther correspondng power lmts. Any other use shall be deemed napproprate! Applcaton range of the clutch-brake combnatons No explosve or aggressve atmosphere. Humdty, no restrctons. Ambent temperature -20 C to +40 C. Wth hgh humdty and low temperatures Take measures to protect armature plate and rotor from freezng. Protect electrcal connectons aganst contact. 8

The clutch-brake unts are used to engage and dsengage shafts n all areas of mechancal engneerng. The modular system enables a great varety of varatons and mountng postons. Clutches and brakes of the 14.105/115 seres transmt the speed or brake torque by means of frcton when DC voltage s appled. In addton to the splned armature plate that permts hgh swtchng frequences, a backlash-free torque transmsson s ensured by the daphragm armature plate. A low brake torque remans present even f the voltage s dsconnected. As the drve runs contnuously wth the clutch motor, the energy from the upstream drve can be used to accelerated the output. 10
