Operating Instructions WARNING To reduce the risk of injury, operate hoist using manual power only. Do not exceed the rated load capacity. Do not use hoist with extension on lever handle. Do not use in a way that causes either hook to be side loaded. Do not use chain hoist as a sling. Do not support load on hook unless hook is designed for tip loading. Do not operate if restricted from forming a straight line from hook to hook in the direction of loading. Properly seat the suspension hook on the supporting structure at its intended load bearing point (Figure 1). Do not allow the hook hitch to support any part of the load. Do not apply the load to the point of the hook (Figure 1). Figure 1 Correct and incorrect suspension hook attachment Page 7 of 16

Properly seat the sling or other device in the base (bowl or saddle) of the hook (Figure 2). Do not allow the hook hitch to support any part of the load. Do not apply the load to the point of the hook (Figure 2). Figure 2 Correct and incorrect hook attachment Installation 1. Estimate the load that is to be lifted or moved and make sure it does not exceed the max load. 2. Make sure that the support to which the upper hook is attached is strong enough to hold several times the weight of the load. Be sure the hoist is solidly held in the uppermost part of the upper hook, the latch is closed and the latch does not contact the support. 3. Make sure that the hoist is rigged so that the upper and lower hooks will form a straight line when the hoist is operated and the frame is free to swivel and will not come in contact with any object. Hoisting and Lowering Hoisting (Pulling) Set the selector lever to the left position for UP. Hoist the slacked load chain by turning the handle clockwise. Lowering (Releasing) Set the selector lever to the right position for DOWN. Lower the load by turning the handle counterclockwise. Free Chaining This position is for making quick adjustments of the load chain length. Set the selector lever to the middle position and pull the load chain out in the desired direction. Free chaining will not be possible during the following conditions: 1. When the lever hoist is under a load. 2. When the handle is in contact with something and not rotating freely. 3. When the brake has locked from a large or abrupt load, turn the handle 45 degrees counterclockwise to unlock the brake. Maintenance Maintain the product by adopting a program of conscientious repair and maintenance in accordance with the following recommended procedures. It is recommended that the general condition of any tool be examined before it is used. Keep your tool in good repair. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. The following chart is based on a normal operation schedule. Maintenance Interval Daily before operating Quarterly (3 months) Maintenance Point Inspect the general condition of the hoist. Check for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. If abnormal noise occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use damaged equipment. Keep all moving parts lubricated at all times. Use common gear oil. For best results, the load chain should be cleaned with an acid free cleaning solution prior to lubrication. Page 9 of 16
