This prduct is specially designed fr PCs and it is nt recmmended fr use in any medical equipment, life-supprting system and ther specific imprtant equipment. D nt plug husehld appliances such as hair dryers, micrwave vens r vacuum cleaners t UPS. D nt attach a pwer strip r surge suppressr t the UPS. D nt plug the UPS int its wn utput. Cnnectin t any ther type f receptable ther than tw-ple, three-wire grunded receptacle may result in shck hazard as well as vilate lcal electrical cdes. T reduce risk f verheating the UPS, d nt cver the UPS cling vents. This unit intended fr installatin in a cntrlled envirnment (temperature cntrlled, indr area free f cnductive cntaminants). Avid installing the UPS in lcatins where there is standing r running water r excessive humidity and d nt use it in any f the fllwing envirnments: Any area with cmbustible gas, crrsive substance r heavy dust. Any area with extrardinarily high r lw temperature (abve 40 C r belw 0 C) and humidity f mre than 90%. Any area expsed t direct sunshine r near any heating apparatus. Any area with serius vibratins. Outdr. The utility pwer utlet shall be near the equipment and easily accessible. In the event f an emergency, press OFF buttn and discnnect the pwer crd frm the AC pwer supply t prperly disable the UPS. 1
The internal shrt circuiting f the UPS will lead t dangers such as electric shck r fire; therefre d nt allw liquids r any freign bject t enter the UPS. N water cntainers (such as a water glass) r any ther liquid-cntaining vessels shall be placed n the tp f the UPS s as t avid such dangers as electric shck. Please d nt use the UPS in excess f the rated lad capacity. Unplug the UPS prir t cleaning and d nt use liquid r spray detergent. Risk f electric shck, d nt attempt t disassemble the unit. If UPS is t be stred fr a lng time, it is recmmended t recharge the batteries (by cnnecting the utility pwer t UPS, switch ON ), nce a mnth fr 24 hurs t avid a full battery discharge. In case smke is fund cming ut frm the device, please cut ff the pwer supply quickly and cntact the distributr. The UPS cntains ne/tw large-capacity batteries. S the shell shall nt be pened, therwise such dangers as electric shck will be caused. If any internal verhaul r replacement f the battery is required, please cntact NEXT UPS Systems. Servicing f batteries shuld be perfrmed r supervised by persnnel knwledgeable f batteries and the required precautins. Keep unauthrized persnnel away frm batteries. A battery can present a risk f electrical shck and high shrt circuit current. The fllwing precautins shuld be bserved when wrking n batteries: Remve watches, rings, r ther metal bjects frm the hand. Use tls with insulated handles and wear rubber glves and bts. D nt lay tls r metal parts n tp f batteries. Discnnect charging surce prir cnnecting r discnnecting batteries terminals. When replacing batteries, replace with the same type and number f the sealed lead-acid batteries. The maximum ambient temperature rating is 40 C. 2

Als with discnnectin f this unit frm the mains, hazardus vltage still may be accessible thrugh supply frm battery. The battery supply shuld be therefre discnnected in the plus and minus ple f the battery when maintenance r service wrk inside the UPS is necessary. In the event that there is fire ccurring in the vicinity, please use dry-pwer extinguishers. The use f liquid extinguishers may give rise t the danger f electric shck. Intrductin MANTIS II Twer series is an intelligent and cmpact line interactive UPS (Uninterruptable Pwer Supply) which is designed t prtect yur persnal cmputer r sensitive electrnic equipments frm all frms f pwer interference, including cmplete pwer failures. It is equipped with many features that allw any attached equipment t perate lnger and mre reliability. 2. 5. Installatin and Initial Startup Befre installatin, please inspect the unit. Be sure that nthing is damaged. I: Placement & Strage Cnditins Install the UPS in a prtected area that is free f excessive dust and has adequate air flw arund the unit, and is free frm excessive dust, crrsive fumes and cnductive cntaminants. Please place the UPS away frm ther units at least 20 cm t avid interference. D NOT perate the UPS where the temperature exceeds 0-40 C and the humidity is ver 0-90 % RH. II: Cnnect t Utility and Charge Plug in the AC input crd t the 2-ple, 3-wire grunded wall utlet. Fr the best results, we suggest charging the battery at least 6 hurs with n lad (n electrical devices such as cmputers, mnitrs, rtc.) cnnected befre initial use. The unit charges its battery while cnnecting t the utility. 7
III: Cnnect the Lads Plug in the lads t utput receptacles n the rear panel f the UPS. Simply turn n the pwer switch f UPS unit, and devices cnnected t the UPS will be prtected by UPS unit. D nt attach a pwer strip r surge suppressr t the UPS. IV: Cnnect LAN cable, Mdem r Phne line fr Surge Prtectin Cnnect fr example a single mdem r phne line int surge-prtected IN utlet n the back panel f the UPS unit. Cnnect frm OUT utlet t the cmputer with anther phne line cable. V: Cnnect USB Cable T mnitr the UPS status, such as unattended UPS shutdwn and start-up, by using bundled sftware, please cnnect the UPS and PC with USB cable included. 8
NEVER cnnect a laser printer r scanner t the UPS unit, because in-rush current generated by mtr s devices may cause the damage f the unit. VI: Turn On/Off the Unit Turn n the UPS unit by pressing the On/Off buttn. Turn ff the UPS unit by pressing again the On/Off buttn. 9
6. Functins & Operatin I: DC Start Functin DC Start Functin enables UPS t be started up when AC utility pwer is nt available and battery is fully charged. Just simply press the pwer switch t turn n the UPS. II: Green Pwer Functin These series are equipped with Green Pwer Functin fr saving pwer and prtecting battery. The feature f deep discharge prtectin is adped n battery mde. If n r light lad is cnnected t the UPS, it will autmatically shut dwn after 5 minutes fr energy saving while running n battery mde (Disable by default). The UPS will restart while AC recvery. The green pwer functin can be enable nly by NEXTVisin mnitring sftware. III: AVR (Autmatic Vltage Regulatin) If the quality f the incming mains is pr, the AVR bsts a lw incming vltage r reduces a high ne. The lad receives a vltage within the nrmal range. 7. Sftware Installatin n yur PC Cnnected by USB t a PC r ntebk, the Sftware enables cmmunicatin between the UPS and the cmputer. The UPS sftware mnitrs the status f the UPS, shuts dwn the system befre the UPS is exhausted and can remtely bserve the UPS via the Netwrk (enabling users t manage their system mre effectively). Upn AC failure r UPS battery lw, UPS takes all necessary actins withut interventin frm the system administratr. In additin t autmatic file saving and system shut-dwn functins, it can als send warning messages via SMS, e-mail etc. Use the bundled CD and fllw the n-screen instructins t install the sftware. Check ur website frt he latest versin f NEXTVisin (www.nextups.eu/sftware) After the sftware is successfully installed, the cmmunicatin with UPS has been established and a green NEXT icn will appear in the system tray. Duble-click the icn t use the mnitring sftware (as abve). Yu can schedule UPS shutdwn/start-up and mnitr UPS status thrugh PC. Detail instructins please refer t the e-manual in the sftware. 11
8. Maintenance I. General The UPS is virtually maintenance free: take care f prper envirnmental cnditins and keep air inlets-utlets free f dust. II. Fuses If the AC input fuse is defect, be sure it is replaced by a cmpatible fuse frm the same make and type. Never shrt circuit batteries. When wrking with batteries, remve watches, rings and ther metal bjects, and nly use insulated tls. III. Battery-mdule replacement Read all safety rules befre replacing the battery. Battery tray remval n twer mdels. This peratin can be perfrmed when the UPS is switched ON, and plugged int AC surce. Althugh fr safety reasns NEXT UPS Systems recmmends t perfrm this peratin when the unit is turned OFF and unplugged frm AC surce. A - Remve the frnt panel. B - Discnnect the battery blck by separating the tw cnnectrs (never pull n the wires). 12
C - Remve the metal prtectin cver in frnt f the battery (ne screw). D - Pull the plastic tab t remve the battery blck and replace it.
