Manual for Axle Load Weighing System
Operation and use Make sure the power cable is connected to the hand-held receiver. The system switches on when the vehicle s lights are turned on. In a few cases, the power supply to the system will be switched on and off in another way. In this event, please consult your dealer. The Axle Load Measuring System is now operational. The hand-held receiver is switched on and you will see that values are being received from the transmitters because a signal reception symbol appears regularly. See also the adjacent illustration. When the signal has been received from all the transmitters a number of times, it means that the transmitters are in contact with the hand-held receiver. You can now detach the hand-held receiver from the power cable. It can now be used with wireless reception alone. However, it is important to keep the vehicle lights on so that power is supplied to the transmitters. The hand-held receiver will switch off automatically when no (change of) signal has been received for some time. The two top screens show the load ratio per axle (group). The bottom screen shows the total vehicle weight or the total weight of the combination. The structure of the screens varies according to the vehicle configuration. This is explained in more detail below. The following points are important to ensure optimum functioning of the measuring system: Ensure that the brakes are off The surface must be flat and level The most common configurations are shown in the table below. In addition to the display of the load ratio per axle or axle group and the total vehicle or combination weight, it is possible to get a reading of the sensor values per axle or axle group. If the hand-held receiver is linked to 3 or 4 transmitters, so that an alternating screen is required, you should first click to get the screen showing the transmitters for which you want to know the tonnage and/or sensor values. Then hold the button on the hand-held receiver down for 7 seconds to return to the menu with the alternating screen, as shown above. Rechargeable battery The hand-held receiver is fitted with a rechargeable battery. To recharge it, simply connect the power cord to the top of the receiver and switch the lights on. If you make a habit of making sure it is connected while you are driving, you will always have sufficient battery power to use it as a wireless device while loading. Calibrating the system After the system has been fitted, it needs to be calibrated. There are two ways to do this. One method is to perform the calibration entirely with the aid of a special laptop. The other is to pre-program the transmitters using data from similar vehicles, after which only minor adjustment is required for optimum performance. Both methods are described in a separate manual on calibration. Accuracy The system functions most accurately if it has been properly calibrated in a logical fashion, the brakes are off, the ground is flat and level and the height regulator is working properly. If it should prove that there is a structural deviation between the weights shown by the system and another device (e.g. a weighbridge), the user can manually adjust the system. Note that this is only possible if the vehicle is empty or has a significant load. Each sender is adjusted individually. Put the part of the combination relating to the relevant transmitter on the weighbridge. Remove the screws to open the cover of the transmitter. Using the (+) and (-) buttons in the transmitter, adjust the transmitter s reading until it is the same as that of the weighbridge. See adjacent photo. It is important to use a level weighbridge when adjusting. If you still have questions after reading this manual, don t hesitate to call us!
