Rev. 11/03 PART #137 & #138 97-04 DODGE DAKOTA HOODS Prefit Before Painting! STEP 1: Adjust hood until proper alignment with matching panels is achieved. STEP 2: Adjust primary latch until it fits into the latch opening on the hood without hitting any perimeter edges of the opening. Make sure when the hood is closed you can hear the latch click onto the hood. STEP 3: After you here it click, test it to be sure it s working properly by grabbing the front edge of the hood and slowly pulling upward with a steady even pressure. If the hood opens it s not adjusted properly; repeat STEP 2 until hood cannot be pulled open after it s closed. WARNING: MAKE SURE SAFETY CATCH IS INSTALLED & WORKING PROPERLY! STEP 4: Make sure the safety catch hook grabs onto its matching bracket mounted on the radiator support. To ensure the safety catch is working properly, close the hood, pull the hood release from inside the car and the hood will partially open. Slowly pull upward on the hood and jiggle it at the same time. If it opens without pulling the safety catch lever then it needs to be readjusted. The safety catch prevents the hood from opening in the event the primary latch fails. STEP 5: Locate the hood stoppers located on each side of the radiator support. Adjust upward until they apply a small amount of pressure to the underside of the hood when it is closed. This will prevent the hood from shaking or rocking. STEP 6: Your original hood was supplied with a grill, now you can bolt on the grill to your Cervini hood. STEP 7: Remove the underhood light and install on your Cervini hood using a #WE2226 screw (do not use the factory screw, it will crack the gelcoat). Rev. 8/04 PART #3338 97-04 DODGE DAKOTA SNIPER FRONT BUMPER Pre-fit before painting. Install new, unpainted parts according to these instructions. Then remove parts, paint them and re-install. Instructions for 1997-2000: Remove the 5 plastic push pins on the under side of the factory bumper. Disconnect factory fog light harness from fog lights and remove 2 bolts on each side that connect the bumper brackets to the frame. Open the hood and remove the 2 top bolts on each side that connect the bumper to the frame. Remove the factory bumper, then remove the lower plastic valance and fog light brackets from the upper steel bumper (the lower valance and fog lights will not be used). Remove the 4 torx bolts in the center of the upper back side of the steel bumper and save them for later use. Place the steel bumper into the Sniper bumper cover and secure with the 4 torx bolts. There are two 1/8 round provisions for screws in the wheelwell area on the Sniper bumper. Align the bumper cover with the steel bumper and drill a 1/8 hole through the 1/8 provisions in the Sniper bumper and the steel bumper at the same time, then install the 2 screws provided. Repeat this for the other side. Do not drill the 1/4 provisions. Pre-fit the PIAA fog lights at this time. Bolt the bumper on the truck and install lower support brackets as shown in Fig. A. Fig. A Instructions for 2001-2004: Remove the 4 plastic push pins on the underside of the factory bumper. Disconnect the factory fog light harness from the fog lights. Open the hood and remove the top 2 bolts on each side that attach the bumper to the frame. Remove the factory bumper, then remove the bumper cover from the steel reinforcement. Save the factory hardware for later use. There are six ¼ round provisions in the wheelwell area on the Sniper bumper. Drill the ¼ provisions using a ¼ drill bit. Place the steel reinforcement into the Sniper bumper cover and reinstall the factory bolts. Do not drill the 1/8 provisions. Pre-fit the PIAA fog lights at this time. Bolt the bumper on the truck and install the lower support brackets as shown in Fig. A. PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS VERY IMPORTANT: The following painting procedures MUST be followed EXACTLY for PROPER ADHESION and to prevent fish eyes. 1. To remove any mold release contaminants, clean the back of the part first. Using 2 new clean rags, saturate the first rag with plastic prep cleaner* and begin cleaning. Then use the second rag to remove the prep cleaner. Continuously fold both rags to their clean sides during the process. Use 3 sets of new rags throughout the process. This prevents mold release contaminants from transferring to the painted surface. 2. Repeat step one on the front of the part. 3. Rinse the part with water. Apply a generous amount of Ajax or sand fix* to a red scuff pad* (3M Scotch Brite Brand) and scrub the surface to be painted THOROUGHLY, especially on all the edges and hard to reach areas. Then rinse with water and dry. The scrubbed surface should be dull. If any shiny spots show, repeat the process on those areas. 4. Using another set of clean new rags, again clean the surface to be painted with plastic prep cleaner. 5. Spray the surface to be painted with adhesion promoter* (follow the instructions on the can for application and drying time). 6. Apply 3 to 4 coats of urethane primer* with flex additive* (follow the instructions on the can for application and drying time). 7. Wet sand primer with 600 grit sandpaper. Be careful not to sand through the primer. If you do, you MUST clean those areas with plastic prep cleaner, apply adhesion promoter and prime. Once the primer has dried, wet sand the areas that were touched up. Your surface is now ready for paint. * These items can be purchased at any auto body supply store.

Then remove parts, paint them and re-install. Do not close the hood without safety catch extension installed. The Sniper grille bolts to all factory locations. Remove the 4 screws on the lower portion of the factory grille. Then remove the nuts from the grille where it bolts to the hood - save this hardware for later use. With the grille off the truck, remove threaded studs from the factory grille and install them on the Sniper grille. Be careful not to damage threads on these studs. In your hardware packet are 4 braces and 8 screws for mounting the lower portion of your grille to the tubular bar support on your hood. Install these braces with the higher end facing the center of the grille as shown in Fig. A. Remove the threaded clips on the lower portion of the grille and install them onto the Sniper grille. Then install the screens with the remaining screws provided in the hardware packet. We have supplied a safety catch extension to operate the safety catch. Remove the safety catch from the underside of the hood. Use the template to drill a 1/8 hole in your safety catch.
