In an effort to minimize system interference, a low-side switched system is being utilized. This 3-wire system (separate brake and turn lamps) is a 12 volt negative ground system, except the ground circuit is switched on and off and rather than the positive as in conventional wiring systems. Standard trailer wiring systems and conventional probing methods will not work on these low side systems as the wirig to the tow vehicle is always hot.
