1 Tank Wall Installation Procedure Preparation for Delivery 1. If the Tank Walls are dropped on site prior to installation ensure there is a flat area the tanks can be off-loaded to. 2. Ensure Tank Walls are placed on top of 2 evenly spaced timbers. 3. Consider the installation order of the Tank Walls and where they are placed. Space timbers Place Tank Walls evenly on timbers ** Do not place tanks on rock and / or uneven surfaces. ** Ensure the correct Tank Walls lifting bar is used for lifting; these are designed and supplied by Taylex. ** A certified lifting bar and chains MUST BE USED for ALL installations. ** Do not use chains only. ** A copy of the lifting instructions can be downloaded from the web site: ** Installation requires a suitably sized Crane Truck, Franna Crane or similar. 2 Site Preparation 1. Check and plan the access to the site, based on the equipment selected to place the tanks in position. 2. Ensure the excavation is completed with a laser level. 3. Prepare the base for the tanks with 5mm 10mm crusher dust and compact to 100kpa. ** Do not use sand to prepare the base. ** 4. Screed and level base using a laser level. The base must be completely level to ensure the finished installation of the tanks are also level. ** Expect a height tolerance of +/- 5mm between each tank ** ** Additional crusher dust may be required during placement, to ensure the finished height of the adjoining tank is level. ** Prepared base Use compaction equipment Use a Laser Level to prepare the base. 3 Installation Set a string line along the back of the installation zone. 1. Decide the installation order, starting with the most integral corner tank or end tank. 2. Check the location or delivery order of each tank to ensure the correct sequence. 3. Install the corner tanks first 4. Ensure the corner tank placement is precise, use an angle bracket or similar. 4 The 5. 2 people will be best to achieve the precise location of the corner tanks. 6. Double-check the angle of the corner tank, prior to installing the next tank ** It is critical to ensure the corner tanks placed correctly, as it will affect the line of the other tanks. ** Page 4 of 8

5 7. Check the joining tanks are level at the finished height. 8. Check the joining tanks are level on the face. 9. Double check all levels once the tanks are installed, prior to the crane leaving site. 10. Apply a generous bead of Sika to the back / retained earth side (if applicable), to prevent water or dirt seepage between each tank. Page 5 of 8

6 11. Install the connecting pipe/s between each tank, use a 100mm PVC Pipe 450mm long. Tighten the clamp around the Tank Wall rubber boot and ensure the clamp is tight. 12. Install the riser pipes to the inlet/s and outlet/s (as supplied by Taylex, or as per the sizes below) and tighten the clamp around the Tank Wall rubber boot and ensure the clamp is tight. ** All application of pipe glue and primer is to take place outside the tanks. Do not use glue and primers inside the tanks for safety reasons. ** A riser pipe must be fitted to each inlet connection/s from a house. ** A riser pipe must be fitted from each outlet / overflow connection/s to stormwater or other. Riser pipe sizes 1,000mm Tank Wall 1,250mm Tank Wall 1,500mm Tank Wall 13. Connect the overflow pipework to the tank/s first, then the inlet to the tank/s. 14. (Option A) if this method is selected install the pump lines with the 100mm pump line fitting, tighten the clamp around the Tank Wall rubber boot and ensure the clamp is tight. 15. (Option B) A pump line/s can also be fitted by coring hole/s in the tank. A threaded tank fitting should be fitted if this option is selected. Be sure to fill the void between the threaded tank fitting and the tank with Sika or similar sealant, prior to assembling the threaded nuts on the threaded tank fitting. 100mm Pump line fitting Option A 25mm Threaded tank fitting Option B 16. Partially fill tanks with water to ensure all fittings are water tight, prior to backfilling. If the Tanks are used as a retaining wall, it is recommended to fill them with water, prior to backfilling. Page 6 of 8

7 Drilling locations for pump lines Note: The measurements below are to suit a 25mm threaded tank fitting with an outside diameter of 34mm and apply to the 1,000mm, 1,250mm and 1,500mm Tank Wall models. ** Pump lines can be fitted through the shelf and top section of the Tank Walls (above the shelf line). ** Pump lines can be fitted through the manhole as required. 8 17. Fit the manhole cover into position and complete the Sika seal on the manhole cover mm bead Vented cover Air vent fitted 18. Apply a 15 20mm bead of Sika around the manhole cover. Smooth out Sika to form a good seal. 19. Check the Sika seal on the shelf edges, especially around the lifting points to ensure the joint was not damaged during installation. Re-seal any damaged areas. 20. Insert air vent pipework into manhole cover after applying primer and glue. 21. If the top section is used as a garden bed, drill out one side of the drain point and insert the 25mm drainpipe. Sika around the pipe to seal. 22. The drainpipe can be connected to the back / retained side of the tank and dropped into the aggregate pipe or left with just the pipe. Each tank used as a garden bed will need a drainpipe connected. Check local Plumbing Regulations regarding licence requirements for connections to rainwater tanks and connections to stormwater. A licenced Plumber may be required to complete these connections. 2. Check with your local Council for approval requirements when installing rainwater tanks and or retaining walls, ensure appropriate approval applications are completed and approved, prior to installation.
