Carpet cleaners and spotters are very different in chemistries and applications. Spotting is done immediately when the problem arises. While some of the cleaners can be used in spotting situations, the chemistries of spotters are matched to specifi c soils to quickly and effectively remove the soil. Therefore, the best policy is to match the right spotter to the right soil. There are three basic categories that virtually all stains can be classifi ed as: 1. Water or protein-based stains 2. Oily or grease-based stains 3. Dyes such as; inks, markers or Kool-Aid Even though the methods for removing these various stains may be similar, the products used to effectively clean them can differ greatly. Using the wrong product on the stain could permanently set the stain. The majority of carpet cleaning is performed with machinery either by bonnet cleaning or extraction. However, small carpeted areas or hard-to-reach areas, high traffi c lanes that need to be cleaned but don t have time to dry, walk-off mats and other spaces where it is not feasible to use machinery are all perfect applications for aerosol cleaners.
