12 BELOW WATER LINE BELOW WATER LINE When sanding below the water line, on a new fiberglass surface before applying anti fouling or removing old anti fouling, we recommend to use Abranet Ace HD + high orbital pneumatic machine + dust extractor or alternatively an electric rotating machine + dust suction hood. 16 PAINT RECTIFICATION PAINT RECTIFICATION ON MARINE SINGLE COMPOUND POLISHING SOLUTION Defect removal Compounding Polish / Finish Remove defects: use Microstar P1200 or P mm interface pad. Sand with medium speed, 6,000 7,000 rpm. Reduce scratches: use Abralon 3000 damp sanding. Sand with low speed, 6,000 rpm. Use Polarshine 10 and Mirka Lambswool Pro pad. Polishing speed max. 1,500 rpm. Use Polarshine 10 and Mirka Yellow waffle pad. Wipe and do final cleaning with Mirka soft microfiber cloth. Polishing speed max. 1,500 rpm. 2 COMPOUND POLISHING SOLUTION if needed Defect removal Compounding Polish / Finish Use Microstar for soft fresh paint Use Polarstar for hard paints. Note: For best result, use moderate speed 1,200 1,500 rpm to achieve a better cutting performance! Remove defects: use Microstar P1200 or P mm interface pad. Sand with medium speed, 6,000 7,000 rpm. Optional use WFP by hand. Use Polarshine 35 and Mirka Lambswool Pro pad. Polishing speed max. 1,500 rpm. Use Polarshine 10 and Mirka Yellow waffle pad. 17 PAINT RECTIFICATION CLEARCOAT Defect removal For removing of defect use Polarstar SR and Mirka AOS 130NV or Mirka ROS 150NV machine. Always use water when sanding, apply water to both abrasive and on defect area. Use Mirka damper for best result. Light press with machine and sand for 2 3 seconds. Wipe clean and check the surface. Repeat step 3 if needed. Use Mirka soft microfiber cloth. Note: For best result, use the right combination of abrasive and Soft backing pad. Polarstar SR primarily designed for wet sanding, for corrections of small painting defects and removing of dust particles in top coats and clear coats. Finessing damper Mirka AOS-B 130NV Yellow microfiber cloth Polish / Finish Compounding: use Mirka ROP2 312NV with Mirka Lambswool Pro pad and Polarshine 10. Apply small amount of compound on polishing pad. Gentle press on the machine at moderate speed, wipe clean and check the surface. Repeat the compounding process if needed. Polishing: use Mirka Yellow waffle pad and Polarshine 10. Apply small amount of compound on polishing pad. Gentle press on the machine and use at moderare speed, wipe clean and check the surface. Repeat the polishing process if needed. Use Mirka soft microfiber cloth for final cleaning. 18 PAD WASHER SYSTEM MIRKA UNIVERSAL PAD WASHER SYSTEM CLEANING YOUR PADS AFTER POLISHING Fill the bucket with water. Press down the washing grid and fill the bucket with water until it is slightly above the washing grid. It is important to keep the polishing pad clean. A dirty pad can cause deep swirls and scratches The Universal Pad Washer is suitable for washing all types of pads. Press down the polisher against the grid and run the polisher at approximately 800 1,200 rpm. Lift the polisher and spin the pad dry at 1,500 2,000 rpm. 7 8 Cleaning Tool for Lambswoolpad For additional drying place the center grid in the lid. Recommended speed: 1,200 1,500 rpm. 19 MIRKA TROLLEYS MIRKA TROLLEYS SOLUTION TROLLEY The Solution Trolley has space for the Mirka dust extractor, abrasives, tools and polishing bottles. Abrasives can be put on the top level for easy availability. There are also two drawers and a locker for storage of tools and abrasives. WORK STATION FOR DUST EXTRACTOR 1230/1242 The work station is a compact shelf and hook system. The functional work station has dedicated space for Mirka cases and abrasives as well as hooks for machines and hose storage.
