installation instructions bin preparation For dryer floors installation of the underbin tube must run perpendicular with the floor supports. For installation in existing dryer floors it may be necessary to remove and reinstall the floor. For concrete floor installation the system may be assembled in a pre-poured trenched concrete floor. dryer floor preparation: 1. Determine from which side the bin is to unload. Install the bin floor from the opposite side of the bin to just past the halfway point of the bin (see Illustration B). Cut a hole in the flooring for the center sump so the sweep pivot point (the pivot point is the shaft between the two gear boxes) will be at the exact center of the bin. Set the center sump in the hole but do not secure. NOTE: Place the pivot point (the vertical shaft between the two gear boxes) in the exact center of the bin. 2. Cut the hole for the underbin tube in the bin wall on the desired unloading side. 3. Place the underbin tube in the bin and out through the opening in the wall. Illustration B 4. Connect the underbin tube to the center sump using the connector sleeve. Support the center sump and underbin tube to keep it level with a nonflammable material. 5. Connect the center sump slide gate control rod and the clutch control rod. Test the operation of each slide gate and the clutch control rod. Their operation should be smooth. 6. Install the bin wall plate. 7. Finish installing the flooring being careful not to allow any interference with the control rods or slide gates. Attach the center sump and intermediate sump flanges to the flooring. SUDENGA IND, INC. 14

BIN FLOOR PREPARATION 1. ON PERFORATED DRYER FLOORS the floor supports must run parallel to the Underbin Auger. A clear path from bin center to bin wall is required. On 8" Underbin Augers a minimum 12" of plenum height is required and a maximum floor thickness is 2 3/4". On 10" Underbin Augers a minimum 13 1/4" of plenum height is required and a maximum floor thickness is 1 3/4". 2. The floor flashing must be overlaid to step up in the direction of sweep travel. If the sweep steps down on the flashing overlays, the sweep wheel will wear out faster. SUDENGA IND, INC. 15

CONCRETE TRENCH TRENCH 8.0" BIN CENTER " TRENCH DETAIL This is the exact dimension of the center sump, give your self as much clearance as you feel necessary. If you will be mounting the underbin system in a concrete trench, use the layout shown here to layout the trench. Do not fill the trench with concrete, this will render the sump control rods and clutch control rod unable to move. The 2" dimensions at the edge of the trench are subject to change according to the flooring thickness and width you use, and are only recommendations. Make sure the center of the shaft connecting the upper and lower gear box is used as the center pin to be placed at the exact center of the bin and allow for 8" to the rear of the center sump in the trench. Once the underbin assembly has been placed in the trench and properly supported, finish the flooring over the trench. Attach the sump flanges to the floor with appropriate fasteners. SUDENGA IND, INC. 16

CONNECTING THE UNDERBIN TUBE TO THE CENTER SUMP Slide the connector sleeve onto the tube welded on the sump. Butt the under bin tube up to the tube on the sump. Position the connector sleeve so half is on the underbin tube and half is on the tube on the sump. Tighten the sleeve in place with two 3/8" x 2" bolts and lock nuts (10" systems use three 3/8" x 3" bolts and lock nuts). Note the position of the sleeve, position it so the sleeve flange will not interfere with the control rods and the slide gate. Also make sure it does not hit the floor and supports. SUDENGA IND, INC. 17

On 10 under bin tubes the intermediate gate rods and the center gate rod will run through the intermediate sumps. Two holes on each side not, all holes will be used it will depend on the length of the under bin tube. There is a control rod support on either on or two of the intermediate sumps, depending on the length of the under bin tube, These supports are for the clutch control rod. Make certain that the control rod is slid through these supports. On 8 under bin tubes the center sump rod runs through the center of the intermediate sumps for support. On 8 under bin tubes the intermediate rods run through holes on the side of the sump for support, one on each side depending on the number of intermediates. Use the mounting hardware found in the plastic bags zip tied to the intermediate sumps to fasten the control rods to the gates. Place the retaining clip, flat side against the bottom of the gate. Then place the control rod into the retaining clip saddle. Slide the u-bolt over the rod and through the holes in the gate. Make sure the u-bolt is directly over a retaining clip. Fasten with lock washers and nuts. Use 2 retaining clips and u-bolts per gate. Once the u-bolts are tightened drill a 1/4 hole through the control rod between the 2 retaining clips and u-bolts and insert the roll pin, make sure there is equal distance sicking out each side of the control rod. Once everything is installed and the floor is put down, screw the flanges on the center sump and the intermediate sumps down. SUDENGA IND, INC. 18

SWEEP SAFETY STOP P/N INSTALLATION: 1. With the grain bin empty, position sweep just past the underbin sumps. Place the stop mounting plate on the bin wall at the end of the sweep. Mark and drill (4) 3/8" mounting holes in the bin wall. Make sure the plate is high enough so the top lip of the stop will not interfere with the sweep operation. 2. Bolt the stop mounting plate to the bin wall with (4) 5/16" x 1 1/4 hex head bolts, lockwashers and hex nuts. Slide the bolts through the mounting holes from the inside of the bin. 3. Position the hinge tube on the stop between the hinge tubes on the mounting plate and slide the hinge bar through the tubes. Secure with a cotter pin. 4. For sweeps that rotate opposite of the sweep in the drawing below, rotate the stop mounting plate 180. OPERATION: 1. With the grain bin empty, open the stop so it is against the bin wall. Position sweep just past the underbin sumps so it is in line with the mounting plate. 2. Close the stop so it is perpendicular to the bin wall. 3. Fill the grain bin. 4. When the bin is empty enough, operate the sweep. It will come to a stop when it comes in contact with the stop plate. 5. To reposition sweep, back sweep off stop plate, open the stop and position sweep as indicated in step one. SUDENGA IND, INC. 19

rack and pinion gate opener installation 5/16 x 2 bolt drill through square hole and through pipe rack rack and pinion assembly half band 1. Make sure the rack is fully extended (as shown in the picture above). 2. Put the rack and pinion assembly on top of the under bin tube with the rack pointing towards the bin wall. 3. Then put the half band around the bottom of the under bin tube and install the bolts, do not tighten the bolts yet. 4. Twist the rack and pinion assembly on the under bin tube so the control rod from the center sump gate fits into the channel shape of the rack. 5. Make sure the slide gate is pushed all the way in, so the gate is fully closed. 6. Over lap the rack and the control rod approximately Drill a 5/16 hole through either the second or third square hole from the end of the rack, through the pipe. Insert a 5/16 x 2 bolt in this hole and tighten. 8. Again make sure the slide gate control rod is pushed in completely and the rack is still engaged in the sprocket teeth. Now tighten the bolts in the half band and rack and pinion assembly that were left loose in step 3. SUDENGA IND, INC. 20

DANGER TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH DO NOT ENTER BIN DURING UNLOADING PROCESS 1. Be sure Clutch for Power Sweep is disengaged. DO NOT TRY TO ENGAGE SWEEP WHILE THE UNDERBIN SYSTEM IS RUNNING, ONLY ENGAGE THE SWEEP WHILE THE UNDERBIN SYSTEM IS STOPPED. Start Underbin Auger. Pull Center Sump Rod to start unloading grain. Do not pull intermediate sump rod yet, this may result in bin failure or collapse due to excessive and uneven force distribution on bin walls. 2. If a slower unload is needed a larger pulley may possibly be used on the Underbin Auger to further drive it. Consult the factory before making pulley ratio changes. 3. When grain stops emptying through Center Sump pull the first Intermediate Sump Rod to continue emptying bin. When grain stops flowing from the first set of intermediate sumps, pull the control rod for the outer sumps. 4. When grain stops emptying through Intermediate Sumps shut off power to Underbin Auger. Engage Power Sweep Auger with Clutch Shifter Handle by pulling it out. Sweep may be disengaged during operation to allow emptying of the underbin system, but cannot be engaged unless the underbin system is stopped. 5. With Center Sump still open turn power on to start Underbin Auger and Power Sweep Auger. When Sweep has passed the Sweep Stop shut off power. Put Sweep Stop into stop position and remove remaining grain. 6. Before refilling bin put Power Sweep before Intermediate Sumps, put Sweep Stop in Operating Position, and close all Sumps. SUDENGA INDUSTRIES, INC. 38

notice shutdown instructions 1. While draining the bin: Close all slide gates and let the under bin run itself empty before shutting down the system. 2. After sweeping the bin: Shut off power, Disengage the sweep arm by using the clutch control lever to take the sweep arm out of gear. Make sure the system is empty before shutting down for the season. do not use the slide gate to shut off flow to the under bin auger while the sweep is running SUDENGA INDUSTRIES, INC. 39
