SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS IMPORTANT: It is necessary that a parent or supervising adult be present to go over this list with the rider. Keep your body, including your hands, fingers and feet away from all moving parts while the WRFF IT is in motion. Some of these parts include: Chain, Chain Ring, Tires, Wheels, Steering Linkage (including Tie Rods and Stub Axle), Brakes and Brake Cables. Do not attempt to dislodge, twist, or unalign any moving components as you could be injured. Dislodging, twisting, or unaligning any moving components could result in damage to the WRFF IT. Many states require specific safety devices. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the laws of the state where you ride and to comply with all applicable laws, including properly equipping yourself and your bike as the law requires. Always wear a proper bicycle helmet when riding your WRFF. Always keep the chin strap securely buckled. Failure to wear an approved helmet may result in serious injury or death. Always wear proper safety equipment. A helmet, long sleeve shirt, long pants, shoes, and elbow and knee pads are mandatory. Gloves and eye protection also make good sense. Always wear clothing suitable for your WRFF IT. Don t wear extremely loose clothing which could hang and get caught in the wheels of your WRFF IT. Make sure the WRFF IT Handlebars and Lean Pad height are adjusted properly to fit the rider. WARNING: It is important that the rider of the WRFF be in a comfortable and safe riding position. To build confidence and fully enjoy the WRFF experience, a new rider should start slowly and carefully. Getting comfortable may involve just getting used to the WRFF feeling or making minor adjustments in the height of the Handlebar or Lean Pad Post. Either way, treat your WRFF with respect and you will have the ride of your life! If the Lean Pad Post projects from the Frameset beyond the MINIMUM insertion or MAXIMUM extension mark, the Post may break, which could cause the rider to lose control, crash, and/or fall. Do not allow or encourage any child rider to engage in any activity which is not suitable for or exceeds the child s riding ability and skill level. Children should practice new riding skills in a safe controlled environment while wearing all appropriate safety equipment. 1 If you have any doubt about the condition of the WRFF IT or any of its parts, take it to a qualified bicycle repair person immediately for a thorough check, repair or adjustment if necessary. Wet weather impairs traction, braking and visibility, both for the rider and for other vehicles sharing the road. The risk of accident is dramatically increased in wet conditions. In wet weather it is recommended that braking distance be increased. Braking distances are increased when riding while standing on the Surf Deck. Riding at dawn, at dusk, at night or at other times of poor visibility without reflectors is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. Use a working headlight and a tail light when you ride at night. Also, wear light, bright, and reflective clothing, especially at night, to make yourself more visible. IMPORTANT: Some state or local laws may require additional safety equipment such as a horn, bell, or lights if the WRFF is used after dark. Do not remove Reflectors or Reflector Mounting Brackets from your WRFF IT. They are an integral part of the WRFF IT safety system. WARNING: Removing the Reflectors may reduce visibility to others using the roadway. Being struck by other vehicles often results in serious injury or death. IMPORTANT: Reflectors are not a substitute for lights. Always equip your WRFF with all state and locally mandated lights. Riding with improperly adjusted and secured Brakes or worn Brake Pads is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. Check regularly. Riding with an improperly installed or insufficiently tightened Wheel can cause the Wheel to wobble or disengage from the WRFF IT, which can cause damage to the WRFF IT and serious injury or death. Grip Light Modules and their Covers should be properly installed into the Hand Grips at all times, as they offer protection against the edges of the Hand Grips. Riding without properly installed Hand Grip Light Covers can cut the rider s hands and body and can cause serious injury in an otherwise minor accident.

BEFORE THE FIRST RIDE: INITIAL ADJUSTMENTS IMPORTANT: Now that your WRFF IT is fully assembled, some adjustments are necessary. 1. Minor Brake Adjustment: Hand Grip With one hand holding the Adjusting Barrel, loosen Adjusting Barrel locknut of Brake Hand Lever with the other hand. Adjusting Barrel Brake Caliper Adjustment If one of the Brake Pad rubs on the Wheel Rim of the Rear Tire, but the other does not, you may need to balance the Brake Calipers by adjusting either one or both of the Tensioner Spring, located on each of the Calipers. Turn the Tensioner Screw clockwise to move the Brake Pad away from the Wheel Rim on that side of the Wheel, and move the opposite side Brake Pad closer to the Wheel Rim. Turning the screw counterclockwise does the opposite. Do not set the tension too high. Depress the Brake Lever several times during this procedure to check the adjustment progress. After adjusting the Tensioner Springs, recheck the overall Brake adjustment and adjust the Brake Hand Lever Adjusting Barrel as required. Apply Brakes 20 to 25 times and recheck adjustment. Brake Pad Brake Caliper Adjusting Barrel Locknut Turn Adjusting Barrel clockwise (viewed from Cable exit end) if Brake Pads are rubbing against the Wheel Rim. Turn Adjusting Barrel counterclockwise if Pads are too far away from Wheel Rim (Brake Lever contacts Handlebar before full braking force can be applied). When properly adjusted, Brake Pads should be approximately 1/32 to 1/16 away from the Wheel Rim. The Barrel and Brake Lever housing should remain engaged. Check to make sure you have not adjusted the Barrel too far out of the Brake Lever housing. With one hand holding the Barrel, tighten the locknut securely with your other hand. 8 Tensioner Screw

2. Reflectors The WRFF IT comes with 5 Safety Reflectors: 1 - Handlebar Reflector (P/N 80064) 1 - Lean Pad Reflector (P/N 80065) 1 - Rear Wheel Reflector (P/N 80066) 2 - Pedal Reflectors: mounted on Pedals, not sold separately (P/N 80054) Check Reflector alignment on Handlebars. It should point within 5 degrees of vertical and horizontal. WARNING: NEVER REMOVE THE REFLECTORS THAT COME INSTALLED ON YOUR WRFF IT. 3. Tires ALWAYS USE A BICYCLE PUMP to add air to your WRFF IT Tires. Front Tire pressure should be 15 psi.. Rear Tire pressure should be 35 psi. The correct Tire pressure is printed on the side of each Tire. Use a pressure gauge to check pressure. It is normal for Tires to lose air pressure over time. Always check all 3 WRFF IT Tires before every ride. WARNING: NEVER OVER-INFLATE YOUR TIRES. NEVER USED COMPRESSED AIR FROM A GAS STATION OR OTHER SOURCE Chain Standing alongside your WRFF IT, check Chain tension by carefully pedaling backwards by hand. WARNING: KEEP HANDS OUT OF CHAIN/ SPROCKET AREAS. There should be no places where the Chain becomes difficult to move. It should not be so loose that the Chain sags and rubs on any other components. 13 WRFF RULES OF THE ROAD We urge you and your child to take time to familiarize yourselves with the rules of the road in your local community. IMPORTANT: Some state or local laws may require additional safety equipment such as a horn, bell, or lights if the WRFF is used after dark. The rider must read and/or understand all parts of this Use & Safety Guide. No riding or standing on any roads or streets. If riding at night, make sure Lighted Hand Grips are in working order. Make sure Reflectors are properly aligned. Use a working headlight and a tail light when you ride at night. Also, wear light, bright, and reflective clothing, especially at night, to make yourself more visible. STOP, LOOK and LISTEN when crossing a driveway, alley or parking lot and before entering the public right of way. STOP for all stop signs and USE CAUTION when approaching intersections. Use hand signals to communicate intentions to turn, slow down or stop. ALWAYS BE ALERT. Remember that pedestrians have the right of way and that parked cars may be opening their doors. Never carry any passengers on your WRFF IT. This is designed for one (1) person only. Never hitch your WRFF IT onto a moving vehicle for a ride. Always wear a cycling helmet (Snell, ANSI, or ASTM) which meets the latest safety standards. Always wear shoes that will stay on your feet and will grip the Pedals. NEVER RIDE BAREFOOT OR WHILE WEARING SANDALS. Wear bright visible clothing that is not so loose that it can catch on moving parts of the bicycle or be snagged by objects a the side of the road or trail. Never carry anything that obstructs your vision or hinders your ability to safely operate your WRFF IT. 11

1. Never modify your frameset or components in any way, including sanding, drilling, filing, removing redundant retention devices from forks, or by any other technique. Such modifications will void your warranty, may cause your frame to fail, and may contribute to loss of control resulting in personal injury. 2. Many bicycle service and repair tasks require special training, skill, knowledge and tools. Do not make any adjustments or service your WRFF IT unless you know that you can properly complete them. Improper adjustments or service may result in damage to the bicycle or in an accident which can cause serious injury or death. 3. Regularly inspect your entire WRFF IT for signs of stress. Carefully inspect the Frameset and all components for signs of fatigue before and after each ride. Scratches, cracks, dents, deformation, or discoloration are signs of stresscaused fatigue which can alter the safety of your WRFF IT. 4. As with any mechanical device, every WRFF IT, and each part attached to it, has a limited useful life due to wear and stress. The length of that life varies according to its design, materials, maintenance, and use. 5. A crash can put extraordinary stress on a WRFF IT and its Frame and components, causing them to fatigue prematurely. Components suffering from stress fatigue can fail suddenly and catastrophically, causing loss of control, serious injury or death. If your WRFF IT is ever involved in a crash, minor or major, check carefully for stress or damage to your WRFF IT. USER MAINTENANCE LUBRICATION Lubrication is suggested monthly. (See Monthly Cleaning Section following.) 1. With spray lubricant, lubricate the Chain and the Rear Sprocket. WARNING: The use of light petroleum-base oil is recommended. Do not use a vegetable base oil to lubricate bicycle parts as this type of oil may dry and leave a harmful gum residue. 2. Lubricate Brake Lever Cable pivot points. Use extreme caution not to get oil on the Lever or Pads or Wheel Rim surfaces WARNING: Due to the complexity of the Rear Wheel section, we recommend the Rear Wheel Bearings be adjusted or lubricated by a qualified bicycle repair person. 12

MINOR BRAKE ADJUSTMENT Check for Brake Pad wear. Check Brake operation. WARNING: Riding with improperly adjusted and secured Brakes or worn Brake Pads is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. 1. It may become necessary to turn the Adjusting Barrel on the Brake Hand Lever to move the Brake Pads closer or further away from the Wheel Rim or to use the Tensioner Screws on each Caliper to adjust the Brake Pads to prevent uneven rubbing on one side of the Wheel Rim. For complete instructions and illustrations, please refer to BEFORE THE FIRST RIDE: Minor Brake Adjustment section of this Use & Safety Guide. IMPORTANT: Any major Brake adjustment requiring unclamping of the Cable should be performed by a qualified bicycle repair person.
