4 PART A: PURPOSE ARTICLE 1-INTRODUCTION: The E-bike racing challenge 2017 is an engineering level competition is which student pursuing engineering in any field especially mechanical and electronics can enhance their skills by participating in this event. The students must design and subsequently test the bike for efficient and reliable performance, at the same time taking into considerations the market compatibility of the vehicle manufactured, cost efficiency etc. Through this event the students get an opportunity to develop technical as well as managerial skills and also know about real world problems. It also helps in Inter Domain Collaboration. Electric Bike is the need of future generation. The major benefit is that, it s an eco-friendly competition which can bring a new revolution in the field of biking. The Purpose of all historic motorcycle racing is to provide an appropriate environment for, and to showcase competition among, classic and certain special-interest clubman and grand prix racing motorcycles. AMT MotoCorp recognizes the difficulty and problems involved in maintaining these rare and valuable machines. These rules and class categories are founded upon the technical advice of experts and are intended to provide meaningful, fair competition. The rules and guidelines contained in this book have evolved from many former AMT MotoCorp clubs. They represent the latest thinking and evolution of the E-bike racing challenge. The aim is to provide the best and safest competition through uniform rules and consistent application. Our main aim is to look over the eco-friendly automobiles vehicles which will be the need of the future generation. This event is going to be organized third time in INDIA. After the grand success of EBRC-2015 and EBRC-2016, we are launching a new phase of this green event. ARTICLE 2- FUNDAMENTAL VISION AND SCOPE: The E-Bike Racing Challenge hosted by AMT MotoCorp seeks to promote and celebrate educational excellence and engineering creativity. Fuelled by the spirit of friendly competition and teamwork. E-Bike Racing Challenge is the creative integration of technical and scientific expertise across a range of exciting disciplines. 4 P a g e

5 ARTICLE 3- MISSION: The support and encouragement of bright young minds to succeed in the fields of engineering, the sciences, mathematics, business, in multi-disciplined experiential learning and in subsequent careers. The creation of public awareness and enthusiasm, both for educational excellence and engineering creativity itself, and for the technologies and practices that emerge from that excellence. PART-B: ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS: ARTICLE 1: ABOUT THE ORGANIZER: The AMT MotoCorp shall be the official organizers of the E-Bike Racing Challenge, and shall be responsible for all management oversight and application of the regulations for the Event. AMT MotoCorp team which has been instrumental in promoting motor sports events and ushering a new era of engineers, where they will know, and what practicality in technical world stands for. The AMT MotoCorp will act as a launch-pad to accord the seamless endurance of engineers and their prolific inputs. We will craft a world, where knowledge and wisdom in engineering domain will lead to imagination and innovation. Event Organized by AMT MotoCorp are: E-Bike Racings Challenge, Indo Asian Solar Challenge, Mansha- Ek Soch, National Solar Car design challenge for school students and many more. Article 3: RULES & REGULATIONS: B3.1 Official Announcements: All the official announcements and the information regarding the competition will be displayed on the official website of E-Bike Racing Challenge. Our official website is ebrc.amtmotocorp.com and the official Facebook group of E-Bike Racing Challenge: After completion of Registration, important information will be sent through the s to the respective team mail id. The rules will be same throughout the event and any amendments done will immediately be informed to all the participating teams. The organizer reserves the right to revise these regulations at any time. 5 P a g e

6 B3.2 Right to Impound: During the event any team can be called for Technical Inspection and examination at any point of time and stage and can be questioned for any technical element related to the vehicle during the Event. B3.4 Behaviour: All the members of each and every team will have to follow the rules laid by AMT MotoCorp, during the competition. Any Member s failure to follow the rules will result in 20% point reduction or elimination from the event. Arguments with the officials may result in the team disqualification from Event. B3.5 Bike Eligibility: The E-Bike must be manufactured by the team members only. In case of ambiguity to any judge or official regarding manufacturing of bike by the team, the team may be asked to present proper proofs like photographs & videos etc. In this case judge can ask any member of team to perform any manufacturing operation. B3.6 Protests: E-Bike Racing Challenge organizing committee understands all the efforts students put to manufacture an Electric Bike and bring it to the competition, so we will make every effort to fully review all questions and resolve the problems, if any. At the same time, we have zero tolerance to any kind of indiscipline. At first the team Captain/ Faculty Facilitator must approach the organizer and inform informally regarding any objections & questions about scoring, judging, policies or any official action. If the problem is not resolved, then the team can fill the Protest Form attached with the file provided to team during Induction and submit the form in the Control Room. Only team captain or authorized acting captain (in absence of captain during dynamic round) / faculty advisor is permitted to file a protest in written before 30 minutes of end of event related to which protest is to be filed. The protest must be filed only if it has caused any direct or considerable damage to your Team or else severe action will be taken against the team. B3.7 Bike Shipping: The teams must ensure that their shipping agency or Freight Forwarder or Commercial carrier complies with all rules laid by government for Inter-State Transportation. It is responsibility of teams to ship the vehicle on proper time so that it reaches the event-site before start of event. 6 P a g e

7 Teams must keep proper care during transport to avoid any damage to the Bike. A proper care must be taken while selecting mode of shipping (Train/Truck etc.). any objections & questions about scoring, judging, policies or any official action ARTICLE 4: ENTERING THE EVENT: B4.1 Registration: Team Captain has to register the team online on ebrc.amtmotocorp.com by providing Team Name, Team Captain Name, College Name, Id, Contact Number, College Address, City, State and Country. A confirmation mail will be sent to the captain mail id within 24 hours. Kindly make sure there are no errors in the data. B4.2 Entry Fees: The E-Bike Racing Challenge is not a commercial movement. The cost of staging an event over the three days and the organizer recognises that the basic costs of the movement must be borne by the Participants. The Team have to pay the Registration Fee INR 13,500. Team get the confirmation mail with account detail to submit the registration fee. If the registration fee is cash deposited, team captain has to mail the scanned copy of deposit slip at ebikeracingchallenge@gmail.com Mention your team name, college name and contact details within 2 days of Payment. If the registration fee is paid using Demand Draft, mention your Team Name and Contact details on the back of Demand Draft and post it to address mentioned below. Demand Draft should reach within 20 days of team registration date. After successful payment, an official will call you and confirm your Team registration. Also, the Team Captain will get a confirmation and Team ID will be provided in this mail. After receiving a confirmation mail, team captain has to create a Gmail Account with the mail id as Team Name Team id@gmail.com. For Example if the team name is ABC and team id is EBRC123 then the mail id will be in the format abc123@gmail.com. The Mail Id will be considered as Official Mail Id of the team. The organizers will respond to the mail received from this mail Id only. If any problem persists in creation of mail id team captain had to contact the organizer for legitimate solution. Note: Team Captain has to update all the Team Members details before 10 th November The team member form will be mailed to the Team Mail Id after the confirmation of 7 P a g e

8 payment. The team member form must be filled and scanned copy must be sent to the mail id with the name as EBRC TEAM ID_TEAM_MEMBER_DETAILS.pdf. Article 5 -PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: B5.1 Initial Team Requirement Team Name: No two teams will have same names. In case of any dispute, the team using name from past will be given authority to use the name. If any two new teams uses same name then the team registered first with full payment will retain the name and other team will have to change the team name. Guidelines for selecting name for team. =>Team Name should not hurt the sentiments of any person/religion and should not have any religious word. => Team Name should not criticize any social action of any group of people or an Individual. Team LOGO: Every Team should have an Attractive and Meaningful Logo (Not downloaded from Internet or copied). Team Captain: Every Team should have a Captain and Vice-Captain. Discipline: Every team member must be Undergraduate/ Diploma student. Students must bring their college/ university ID card for the Dynamic Round. Driver: Every Team must have two drivers. Driver must be above 18 years of age. The driver must have a valid driving license and Medical Insurance. Organizers / Judges can verify them at any time of the event. Faculty Advisor: Every team requires two Faculty Advisors (One from Mechanical department and one from Electrical Department) appointed by the College/University who will provide guidance as needed throughout the Electric Bike designing, manufacturing and testing Process. Status: The faculty Advisor will be considered as the official representative of the College/University. Responsibilities: The Faculty Advisors may advise their teams on general engineering and engineering project theory and act as guide to them for this project. The Faculty Advisors are allowed to attend the Dynamic Round along with their team at event site but will not be allowed to provide answers or justifications for any questions on the behalf of Team members. Faculty advisor is recommended to verify all the documentation of the team. Limitations: Faculty should not design any part of the vehicle nor help in the documentation/ presentation. Faculty advisor may advice the team regarding the design and manufacturing but should not fabricate or assemble or assist directly in the preparation, manufacturing, maintenance, testing, and operation of the vehicle 8 P a g e

9 Team Member: Every team require minimum 8 members and maximum of 25 members. Note: Multiple Teams can participate from a single college/ University if it follows the following rules: Every Team should have a different Team Name and Team Logo. No team member of one team can be part of other team. The Faculty Advisor must be different for both the teams. If one team reports or design or any other content matches with the other team, it may lead to disqualification of both the teams. 10 Innovation Test Endurance All the team have to appear for the Virtual round before the Dynamic round and Virtual round will be the qualifying round. (All the details will be send by mail after the registration). PART C: TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Article 1-General Design Requirements C1.1- Vehicle Configuration: Vehicle must have 2 wheels and in Straight Line. The point of contact between the tires and the road must be symmetrical about the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle. The steering system must be able to control the vehicle and it should control the front wheel. The steering handlebar must be attached with the front wheel. Maximum Vehicle dimensions should not exceed the dimensions given below: S.No Parameter Max. Dimension in mm 1. Length Height Wheel Base Width 900 Mud Guard on front and rear wheels and Leg Guard (Crash Bar) are mandatory and should be used as used in commercial vehicles. C1.2- Ground Clearance: Minimum ground clearance should be 6 inch measured from the lowest point of any part of the vehicle. Ground clearance will be irrespective of side stand. 10 P a g e

11 C1.2- Frame: Teams are free to use any material of AISI or ASTM standard seamless pipe for fabrication. Teams are required to manufacture their own chassis. The main frame must be Tubular with minimum outer diameter of 1 inch and minimum thickness of 2 mm. The frame must contain the motor mounting location, steering head location, battery mounting space, rear suspension linkage. Footrests may be raised or lowered, but cannot be lowered than the bottom frame tube. There must be a side stand on the left and centre stand. C1.3- Steering System: The handle bar must have a ½ inch diameter ball end. There should not be any failures like cracks or broken handle. Steering handle must be attached to the chassis in a proper way. Any failures in the attachment may lead to disqualification of the team. C1.4- Braking System: The braking system must be installed on both the wheels (Front and Rear). Teams are allowed to use any braking system like drum brake or disc brake. The brake should not be wire actuated. It can be actuated through mechanical linkage. There should be minimum 1 disc brake in the vehicle. One brake should be hand operated and other should be foot operated as in normal bikes. Disc brake should be of hydraulic actuation, wired actuation is strictly prohibited. The brake light (Red colour) must be used for showing the brake's actuation for both front and rear C1.5- Suspension System: Front: In the Front there should be double shock telescopic hydraulic Suspension. Rear: Swing arm with mono suspension or dual swing arm suspension can be used. C1.6- Horn: An audible warning must be fitted permanently to the bike. It must be capable of giving sufficient audible warning of the presence of vehicle. C1.7- Tyres & Wheels: The minimum diameter of the tyre is 17 inches. Teams are allowed to use alloy wheels as well as spoke rims. The cycle tyres are strictly prohibited. 11 P a g e

12 C1.8- Terrain Capability: The bike must be capable of safe operation on black top roads of India. C1.9- Mirrors: Teams must use at least a single mirror attached to the handle bar so that the rear view can be clearly visible to the driver. C1.10- Indicator Lights: There should be indicator lights on front and rear for turning left or right. The light emitting must be of orange colour. C1.11- Driver Requirements: Teams must have two drivers, each having a driving license for a two wheeler vehicle. Individual medical/ accidental insurance issued by Government of India is mandatory for two drivers and is sole responsibility of participant. Teams will be asked to submit these documents at the time of on-site registration at the start of the Event. C1.12- Vehicle Ergonomic Capacity: As a prototype of commercial product, the design intent should accommodate drivers of all sizes. The largest driver must meet the minimum clearances and fit into the comfortable driving position, while wearing the entire required driver s equipment. The smallest driver must comfortably reach all the bike s controls. C1.13- Lock Nuts or Nylon Nuts and fastener: Threaded fasteners used must meet or exceed the metric grade of 8.8 or MS specification. Teams are required to use the lock nuts at every joints of the vehicle where the nuts are required. Team fails to do so will not be allowed to pass TI (Technical Inspection). 13 C1.14- Protections or Shields: All the drive train rotating parts like belts, shafts, chains etc. must be covered and shielded and wheels must be properly covered with the mudguards. Teams are advised to use standard acceptable grades with metric grade M6 or M8 fasteners. It is not mandatory to use the specified fasteners. There should be no sharp edges or corners or any open holes left, which could harm the driver. C1.15- Electrical Wiring: Wiring should not go below the chassis. Wiring should not be going through metallic pipes. It should be properly covered with insulated plastic pipe. C1.16- Fire Extinguisher: Teams should have a fire extinguisher of minimum 2kgs at event site out of which 1 kg must be attached to the bike. The fire Extinguisher must be rigidly mounted on the Vehicle. C1.17- Body Works: As the competition is having Rain Test, it is mandatory for all teams to come up with proper Bodyworks. Teams can use GI sheet, Glass fibre, Carbon fibre, or any other material that is water resistant. Any team that uses the bodyworks of already manufactured vehicle may lead to the penalty. The bodyworks doesn t include mudguards. C1.18- Vehicle Stand The Vehicle should be equipped with the main stand or side stand for the support. Vehicle should be able to stand on without any side support. Article 2- Safety Equipment for Driver: C2.1- Biker s Jacket: The driver must wear a biker s Jacket. The jacket must be Fire Resistant. Teams are requested to select a driver suit which has a minimum TPP value as P a g e

14 C2.2- Gloves: Leather Gloves with extra foam are acceptable. But teams are requested to make sure that the TPP value at top of glove is more than or equal to 6 cal/cm 2. C2.3- Knee and Elbow pads: Knee pads should cover the knees and elbow pads should cover the elbow joints of hands. C2.4- Neck Support: The neck support must be a full circle (360 0 ) and SFI rated. Horse collars are not allowed. Simpsons, RCI, 14 P a g e

15 G Force, Deist or Leaf Racing products supply neck collars that support the requirement. C2.5- Balaclava: It is mandatory to wear the Balaclava. The same will be checked during the Technical Inspection. C2.6- Shoes & Socks: The fire resistant shoes certified by SFI and standard and labelled such as SFI 3.3, FIA with the TPP value more than 19 Cal/cm 2 will be accepted. Canvas Shoes/Sport Shoes/Leather shoes/industrial safety shoes are not allowed. The socks with a minimum TPP value of 6 Cal/cm 2 are accepted. The socks should cover the bare skin between the suit and the shoes. C2.7- Underclothing: It is strongly recommended that all drivers should wear fire resistant underclothing (long pants and long sleeve t-shirts) under their approved suit. The fire resistant underclothing should cover the driver s body completely from neck to the ankles and wrists. C2.8- Helmets: A well-fitting closed helmet must be used. Open faced helmets are not allowed. The helmet must reach the any of the following certifications and should be labelled as FIA , FIA , K2000, K2005, K2010, K2015, M2000, M2005, M2010, M2015, SA2000, SA2005, SA2010, SA2015, SFI 31.1/2005. CMS and B standard helmets are not allowed. All the helmets to be used in the competition must be presented during Technical Inspection where approved helmets will be stickered. Article 3- Required Power and Transmission: C3.1- Motor: Teams can use DC motor of any type. No constrains on RPM and Torque. Maximum motor power should not exceed 1000 watts (at peak). Maximum input voltage to motor and controller should not exceed 48 volts. On the original bill the wattage and voltage of motor must be clearly mentioned. Controller: Teams are free to use any type of controller suited for the motor but have to show the specification sheet of the controller. Transmission: Teams are free to use any type of transmission, such that maximum speed of the bike on a plain terrain should not exceed more than 60 km/hr on full throttle. 15 P a g e

16 The transmission must be clearly visible at the time of engineering design event. The transmission can be chain drive, belt drive or gears. But teams are not allowed to use Hub motors. Article 4- Electrical System: C4.1- General Electrical System Overview The electrical system must include: Battery pack, Motor, Controller, Brake light, indicator and all other equipment use this power source. The brake light (red colour) must be used for showing the brakes actuation. For electrical innovations the power supply must be taken from the Battery Pack. C4.2- Battery: Teams can use either Lead Acid or Lithium Ion Batteries. Voltage output of Battery pack should not exceed by 48 volts. Maximum current capacity of the battery pack should not exceed 80 Ah (amperehour). Battery must be able to provide power to all safety items (Brake Light, Indicator Lights, Horn) for the duration of entire Event. Batteries must be properly insulated with the insulating Material. C4.3- Kill Switches Location and Orientation: There must be two kill switches installed in the Bike. One switch must be located in such a way that the driver can use it so easily and it should be of Red Colour. The other should be at one side of the vehicle and must be clearly visible from the outside and it also must be in Red colour. The kill switches must disconnect all the power sources except the Brake Light. The brake light must be operated regardless of the kill switch setting. The kill switches must have the rigid Mountings. A small sticker must be attached near the kill switches stating as KILL SWITCH in Red colour. Part D- Events Round The entire Event is divided into two phases. They are: Article 1- Virtual Round : Virtual Round Final Event 16 P a g e

17 D1.1- Overview: Virtual round is a pre-final round, in which all the teams have to give a 15 minutes presentation illustrating their vehicle design and other vehicle specifications in front of judges. In virtual round, teams have to testify that they have necessary knowledge and research work done to make this vehicle. Only 5 members have to present their design during the Virtual Round. Only Faculty Advisor other than 5 presenting team members is allowed to witness the presentation of their team; but answers/justifications by faculty advisors are restricted. D1.2- Reports Submission: Design Report which contain Chassis (CAE Analysis & Calculation) CAD File (Chassis, Assembled view with Body Works) Innovation Report Technical Specification Sheet Steering Report (Technical Data, Calculations etc.) Suspension (Selection, Calculations, Technical Data & Analysis if any) Braking Report (Selection, Calculations, And Technical Data etc.) Tyres & Wheels (Specifications & Selection Parameters etc.) Transmission (Selection & Calculation) Innovation Report (Includes Flow Charts, Circuits, calculations if any) Motor, Controller & Electrical Wiring Report Bodyworks Report Cost Report: It is a pre-manufacturing Expenditure analysis report in which teams submit an estimated cost of all the components of the Bike. The cost report does not include the transport or shipping charge of the Bike. The cost of all components in the Bike must be included in the cost report. Design Validation Plan (DVP): Design Validation plan is the assurance that a product, service or System meets the needs of the customer and other identified stakeholders. It often involves acceptance and suitability with external customers. All the virtual and real time tests and analysis are to be included in the design Validation Plan. Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA): It is a structured approach to: Identifying the ways in which a product or process can fail. Estimating Risk associated with specific Failures. Prioritizing actions that should be taken to avoid or reduce risk. 17 P a g e

18 Gantt chart: Gantt chart includes all the process during manufacturing of the bike from the starting date to End Date. This chart is basically the management of the project and distribution of the work among the team members with completion deadlines. Environmental Sustainability Report: In this report team has to explain clearly the various effects on the Environment due to the E-Bikes manufactured in the large scale. The team has to do the research and submit a report on the scale of change in the Environment due to the usage of manufacturing materials. In this report the teams has to clearly explain the various ways the E-Bikes are reducing pollution and being Eco-Friendly. Teams are needed to submit what changes will be made on environment by E-Bikes from the manufacturing level in industries to the daily usage i.e., how the E-Bike manufacturing Industry brings a change in environment compared to normal Bikes. Teams are requested to show the clear statistics of E- Bike on environment. Format: The reports are to be submitted in IEEE Format. All the files must be compressed into zip or rar file and mailed to E-Bike official mail Id. The file must be sent with the name as EBRC Team id reports i.e., if the team id of your team is EBRC032 then the file name should be EBRC032reports.rar. D1.4- Scoring: S.No CATEGORY POINTS 1. 19 Final Event The Dynamic Racing Events of E-Bike Racing Challenge the track and venue will be decided during the virtual round of the event. The Final Event of E-Bike Racing Challenge is categorized into two parts. They are: Static Events Dynamic Events PART E-Static Events Article 1- Scoring: S.No Event Name Points 1. Engineering Design Event Cost Report Business Plan Environmental Sustainability Report 75 Article 2- Engineering Design Event: E2.1- Objective and Overview: E The objective of Engineering Design event is to evaluate the engineering efforts that went into the design of the E-Bike and how the engineering meets the intent of the market. Students will be judged on the creation of design specifications and the ability to meet those specifications, computer aided drafting, analysis, testing and development, manufacturability, serviceability, system integration and how the vehicle works together as a whole. E2.1.1 The vehicle that illustrates the best use of engineering to meet the design goals and the best understanding of the design by the team members will win the design event. E2.1.2 Final Design reports submitted will be cross checked and any deviation from the data given in report will lead to point deduction. E2.2 Scoring Formula Final design report submission (compulsory but no marks) On site design evaluation (100 marks) E2.3 Final Design Report - Required Submission E The design evaluation judging will start with submission, before the event, of a Design Report. Soft copy of the design report must be submitted as the dates mentioned on 19 P a g e

20 the Event Schedule at official mail of E-Bike Racing Challenge i.e. E Hard copy of final design report must be submitted on day-1 of the event. The Design Report will be reviewed by the design judges who will ultimately judge the team and vehicle at on-site Design Evaluation. E Reports to be submitted: Overall design Report ( As mentioned in D1.2.1) Design Validation Plan (DVP) Environmental Sustainability Report (As mentioned in D1.2.6) E The design report must not exceed twenty (20) pages including the table of contents and cover page. All pages must be A4 sheets. E % deviation is allowed in the final report from that of reports submitted for virtual round. If the deviation is more the team points will be reduced. E The reports must be submitted in the PDF format. The documents must be in a single file. The file name should be in the format EBRC012_Final Design Report whereebrc012 represents team Id. E If any team fails to submit the reports in given time there will be a penalty of 10 points per day to the team for 5 days and after if the team fails to submit by then also then the team will not be allowed for On site Design Evaluation. E2.4- On Site Design Evaluation: E In onsite design evaluation, Teams will be evaluated on the basis of their design and Questionnaire. The top scorer team will be given Best Engineering Design Award. E The design judges will evaluate the engineering effort based on the team s design report and responses to the question and inspection of the Bike. E It is the responsibility of judges to deduct point if the team cannot adequately explain the engineering and construction of the Bike. E Teams may bring any support material with them for Design Inspection like any photographs, drawings, plans, charts, or any other material that support the presentation of E-Bike and discussion of their development process. Use of laptops, posters, notebooks and binders are allowed. Article 3- Cost Report: E3.1- Teams have to give a brief overview of design features or fabrication processes that are innovative or are expected to result in significant cost savings. Teams may also use the overview to explain items or processes that might appear to be discrepancies within the report. The overview section is limited to a maximum of four (4) pages. 21 have to explain the ways in which they have reduced the total cost of fabricating this vehicle. E3.2- Also, teams have to submit copies of receipts, invoices, price tags, catalogue pages, on-line prices, or other documentation, to substantiate the costs of the parts and materials of any item costing more than Rs Cost documentation must be at full retail Indian prices. The report is expected to be comprehensive, well documented, truthful and accurate. E3.3- If details of parts are found missing in the report, severe penalties will be applied in terms of adding the cost of missing part into projected cost by multiple times. E3.4- The cost report must be submitted to the Judge panel present in the Business Plan Presentation. E3.5- If any team brings the fake bills, the team will be awarded zero (0) points for cost report and a severe penalty will be imposed on the team. Article 4- Business Plan Presentation: E4.1 Presentation Objective E4.1.1-The aim of the Marketing Presentation is to provide an opportunity for the engineering students to prepare a strategic business model of establishing a firm which can produce their own design at a certain rate (say 10,000 vehicles per year) and market it. E For the purpose of the presentation, teams are to assume that the judges are to be a mixed group of corporate executives who may have experience in marketing, production and finance as well as engineering. E4.2- Presentation Format: Teams are advised to prepare the model by working out on the following points in the presentation: 1. Unique Selling Proposition (USP) 2. Market/Customer Survey (to analyse the product demand) 3. Different concepts & variants 4. Plant layout for mass production 5. Cost of product in mass production 6. Break-Even Analysis (in terms of time & quantity) 7. Return on Investment (in terms of time & money) 8. Marketing strategies (sales & after sales) 21 P a g e

22 Three team members may make the presentation to the judges. The presentation itself is limited to a maximum of ten (10) minutes. E Following the presentation there will be an approximately five (5) minute question period. E Only the judges are permitted to ask questions. Any team member on the presentation floor/stage may answer the questions even if that member did not speak during the presentation itself. E4.3- Presentation- Scoring: E The presentation event will be judged based on certain Categories like: Content of Presentation The organizing of Presentation The Speaker s delivery The effectiveness of Visual aids. The Team s response to the judge s questions. E The teams score will be the average of the individual judge s scores. E The team that makes the best Business Plan Presentation will be awarded with Best Business Plan Award irrespective of the finished quality of their E-Bike. PART F- DYNAMIC EVENTS In the Dynamic Events there will be some Qualifying rounds. The teams that had cleared the Qualifying rounds will be allowed into the Other Rounds. Article 1- Technical Inspection: The Technical Inspection is a Qualifying Round. Every team will be given three (3) chances to clear the TI. If any team fails to clear TI in given chances, it lead to disqualification of the team from the Event. Only 3 team members (Captain & 2 other members) and 2 drivers will be allowed to Technical Inspection Arena. The Technical Inspection consists of three (3) separate parts as follows: Rulebook Inspection Safety Inspection Electrical Inspection F1.1- Rulebook Inspection: In this the Technical Inspector will check whether the vehicle was manufactured by following the Rules and Regulations in the Rulebook or not. Any deviation from rulebook may lead to the point Reduction. F1.2- Safety Inspection: F In this the examination of E-Bike for Driver safety is mainly concerned. 22 P a g e

23 One of the driver must come to TI by wearing all the driver gear and will be thoroughly inspected. It is responsibility of driver to bring all the Helmets that he use for race to the TI Arena and get them stickered. Proper Functioning of Brake Light, Kill Switches, Horn, Side Indicator Lights and side & Centre stand will be checked. The Fire Extinguisher s mounting and location will also be checked. F1.3- Electrical Inspection: Electrical & electronics used in the vehicle will be inspected. All the wirings should be safe and high current circuits must be isolated from driver. Batteries must be mounted with sound engineering practice and not come loose during any part of event. Battery terminals must be insulated by using rubber (bicycle tube etc.).failing this, the technical inspectors may debar the team from the dynamic events. Battery pack should be mounted/ connected in such a way, that it can be removed/ disconnected. Use of mechanical fixings such as nut bolts to hold the batteries are recommended. Battery terminals should be tight and should not generate a spark during the race. The vehicle must not have chances of electrical shock. Loose connections and UN insulated electrical parts should not be there. Note: Driving Off-Site is absolutely prohibited. Teams found to have driven their E- Bike at any off-site location may lead to disqualification from the Event. F1.4 Self Certification Check Sheet- Pre-inspection Required F1.4.1Before bringing their vehicle to technical inspection each team must (1) pre inspect the vehicle for compliance with the rules, (2) complete the official Self Certification Check Sheet (Download from ebrc.amtmotocorp.com & also mailed at team mail), (3) have the completed check sheet signed by the faculty advisor and team captain. NOTE: Teams presenting Self Certification Check Sheets that are (1) incomplete, (2) inaccurate (i.e. do not correspond to the actual condition of the vehicle) (3) are found to have the items not in accordance with the rules, or (4) do not represent a serious effort at pre-inspection will be denied inspection at that time and sent back to the end of the inspection line. F1.5- As Approved Condition: Once a vehicle has passed technical inspection its configuration may not be modified. Non-identical parts not approved will be subject to an appropriate performance penalty. 23 P a g e

24 Any repairs of a part that is not identical as the broken part must be approved prior to the repair by judges or organizers. Minor adjustments permitted by the rules and normal vehicle maintenance are not considered modifications. Article 2- Rain Test: This test is compulsory and sticker will be awarded for clearing this test. This test is to check the electric short circuit. All the teams have to pass this test if not pass they are not allowed to go for the next round. Battery terminals should be tight and should not generate a spark during the race. Loose connections and un insulated electrical parts should not be there. The wire should pass through the proper insulated pipes. In this proper wiring and proper covering of motor and battery should be there so that there should not be any problem of short circuit during rain test. If the judges found any type of short circuit problem during rain test the team will be disqualified. Article 3- Brake & Acceleration Test: F3.1- Overview Brake test is a mandatory process, without passing this test vehicle will not be allowed to proceed further. Each vehicle will be given 3 attempts to pass the brake test. The vehicle have to accelerate at its maximum along a 50m track and then apply brake and stop the vehicle in the next length of track i.e. 5 m. The time taken by the vehicle for covering 50 m length will be considered to determine the acceleration of vehicle. If the vehicle did not stop within the specified distance, the brake & acceleration test will not be cleared and team has to attempt again. If the team has cleared the brake test they may still take remaining attempts to improve their acceleration time. 25 Article 4- Weight Test: The E-Bike must be kept on the Platform using the Centre Stand. Only one driver and the Captain are allowed into the Weight Test Arena. If any parts are removed from E-Bike before coming to weight test that may lead to the penalty for the team. The E-Bike that has the lowest weight will be awarded The Light Weight E-Bike Award. The scoring formula is : Article 5- Autocross: Auto cross is an endurance test. Here we will check the endurance of the vehicle in all manners. Vehicle s manoeuvrability, handling ease, ergonomics, manufacturing strength, safety will be checked out. It will combined with an integrated testing mechanism that will also check the acceleration, braking, steering, cornering, overtaking capabilities of the vehicle without hindering other vehicles movement. Each team gets two attempts with same or different drivers. Best out of two attempt score will be taken into consideration. Timings will be checked out using electronic system or stop watches. Track Details will be given at the time of event. The scoring Formula is as Follows: Where: Autocross score = 100 points x (TL- TY)/ (TL -TS) TS = smallest time taken by any vehicle TY = time for the vehicle to be scored TL = maximum time taken by any vehicle F5.5- The penalties in the Autocross round will be 2 seconds / Cone. 20 seconds if 1 tyre or ¼ th of Bike goes out. 30 Seconds penalty if entire Bike goes out. Article 6- Innovation Test (100 Points): F6.1- After autocross event, judges will visit into the pit area where all the innovations done in the vehicle will be tested. Article 7- Endurance Test: F7.1- Overview: F The track provided will be 2kms and the teams have to run their vehicle for 2 hours. F The vehicle that covers the max. Distance will be considered as the winner of Endurance Round. F7.2 Rules of Endurance: The vehicle will not be allowed into the Pit arena once it entered the Race Track. Changing of Batteries or charging of Batteries after entering into Endurance is strictly restricted. If a vehicle hits other s vehicle then the team that hit the E-Bike will be disqualified. Overcrossing in the no-overcrossing zones lead to penalty. If any vehicle stops on the track they can take their E-Bike to a side of track and can repair there only under the observation of a volunteer. F7.3- Flags: S.No Colour Command 1.
