1 HKSAR Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2011 Transport Department 1. Job Title: Ref. 001 Summer Intern (Corporate Communication Unit) (a) Major in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Language Studies, Translation or equivalent; (b) Have Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; (c) Possess computer knowledge including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; (d) Good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; and (e) Preferably to have working experience in media, journalism, marketing or related fields. (i) To provide administrative and clerical support for Safe Driving and Health Campaign; (ii) To provide administrative and clerical support, including logistic arrangements for receipt of overseas and Mainland visitors to TD; (iii) To maintain the inventory of briefs / papers, and to assist the information dissemination of incidents and planned events; and (iv) To provide logistic support for the hearings of Inquiry and Transport Tribunal. 2. Job Title: Ref. 002 Summer Intern (Ferry and Paratransit Division Taxi Team 1) (a) Major in any discipline; (b) Proficiency in MS Word, Access and Excel would be an advantage; and (c) Available from mid June 2011 is preferred. (i) To provide logistic support in connection with the publicity of taxi fare adjustment; and (ii) To assist in managing the record system of Taxi Driver Identity Plate. Job Title: Ref. 003 Summer Intern (Ferry and Paratransit Division Taxi Team 2) (a) Major in Computer Science or Statistics; (b) Proficiency in SAS to validate, clean, manipulate and combine data, enhance report and create graphs; (c) Competency in Excel and Excel Macro; (d) Solid experience in developing computer system using SAS is an advantage; and (e) Available from mid June 2011 is preferred. To design and develop programmes using SAS for the Survey on Taxi Utilization and Operating Finance. 4. Job Title: Ref. 004 Summer Intern (Finance and Supplies Unit) (a) Major in any discipline; (b) Good communication skills in English; and (c) Proficiency in using MS Office, in particular Excel. (i) To compile working schedules for the preparation of operating accounts for Government toll tunnels and bridges; (ii) To compile working schedules for updating fixed asset register; and (iii) To carry out independent checking of transactions under payment and revenue collection areas; and review of relevant reports generated/ downloaded from various systems. - Page 2 of 9 -

Job Title: Ref. 005 Summer Intern (Human Resource Development Unit) (a) Major in any discipline; (b) Literacy in FrontPage/home-page/web-page, and MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and (c) Willing to work with numbers and figures, charts and tables. (i) To streamline, improve categorization and documentation of the filing system; (ii) To improve categorization and more systematic arrangement and storage of materials in Division hard disk drive; (iii) To update and improve content materials in divisional homepage; (iv) To streamline and compile training evaluation summaries and assessment of training effectiveness; and (v) To organise work life balance training programmes and recognition proposals such as health talks and recognition parties. 6. Job Title: Ref. 006 Summer Intern (Traffic Engineering/Hong Kong Division) No. of Nominations: 15 Final year student in Bachelor Degree of Civil Engineering or Bachelor of Computing Science. (i) To assist engineer to develop traffic management schemes, handle traffic complaints and approve traffic impact assessments; (ii) To enhance Divisional homepage; and (iii) To develop database programs for complaint replies with searching engine. - Page 3 of 9 -

Job Title: Ref. 007 Summer Intern (Traffic Engineering/New Territories West Division) (a) Major in Computer Programming and knowledgeable in webpage designing or Civil Engineering/ Traffic and Transport Engineering; and (b) Have knowledge and experience in handling the software of Microstation and MS Office application is preferable. (i) To update divisional homepage and equipment inventory; (ii) To update Transport Information System records; (iii) To retrofit cycle tracks facilities and review parking spaces for bicycles and motor-cycles; (iv) To update records for parking spaces, speed limit, no stopping restriction, vehicle prohibition etc; and (v) To prepare various traffic/transport related drawings/reports/forms using computer systems. Mong Kok 8. Job Title: Ref. 008 Summer Intern (Transport Operations/Hong Kong Division) No. of Nominations: 20 (a) Major in Transport Studies, Town Planning, Urban Planning, Economics, Civil Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration, Geography, Sociology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; (b) Familiar with MS Office (including Access); Imaging software and web page editing software; (c) Familiar with public transport system; and (d) Knowledge of GIS and geo-spatial application is preferred. (i) To upkeep various inventory records like PT services, PTI, tram stops and shelters, restricted/prohibited zones inventory on Hong Kong Island, etc.; (ii) To familiarize with the planning of GMB network on Hong Kong Island; (iii) To assist in amending and updating the spatial data and textual record; (iv) To update the complaint records on Hong Kong Island; (v) To update division homepage; (vi) To assist in analysis of the accuracy of spatial data of Franchised Bus, GMB, Resident Service, Cross boundary coach service under TO/HK purview; and (vii) To assist in amending and updating the spatial data and textual record of FB, GMB, NFB, AEL and RS in TIS and PTES. Job Title: Ref. 009 Summer Intern (Transport Operations/Kowloon Division) No. of Nominations: 20 (a) Major in Transport Studies, Town Planning, Urban Planning, Economics, Civil Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration, Geography, Sociology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; (b) Familiar with MS Office (including Access); Imaging software and web page editing software; (c) Familiar with public transport system; and (d) Knowledge of GIS and geo-spatial application is preferred. Job Title: Ref. 010 Summer Intern (Transport Planning Division) No. of Nominations: 20 (a) Major in Computer Science or Civil Engineering; (b) Good knowledge in designing and developing websites, database software and GIS such as MS Frontpage, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Ms Access, SQL, Microstation and ESRI ArcInfo are preferred; and (c) Previous work experience relating to items above is preferred. (i) To assist in coding and checking of public transport & highway network data for transport model run; (ii) To assist in the preparation work for TCS 2011; (iii) To enhance and update the divisional homepage and computer inventory system; and (iv) To assist in developing the web-base ECTS3 model training kit. - Page 5 of 9 -

Job Title: Ref. 011 Summer Intern (Tunnels and Tsing Ma Section) (a) Preferably major in Computer Science Study, Information System Management or Statistics; (b) Be proficient in computer software, especially in MS Access and Excel; and (c) Preferably with knowledge of Statistics. (i) To assist in reviewing the high wind management measures in Tsing Ma Control Area (TMCA); (ii) To enhance the database for analysis of wind data for both TMCA and Tsing Sha Control Area; (iii) To develop a database for compiling complaint records for Tunnels & Tsing Ma Section; and (iv) To upgrade existing tunnel statistics database in MS Access to include tunnel operational data such as autotoll figures, toll ticket. 12. Job Title: Ref. 012 Summer Intern (Traffic and Transport Survey Division 1) (a) Diploma / Degree in GIS or Civil Engineering; (b) Proficiency in ESRI ArcInfo v9.x and MS Access; and (c) Knowledge in road network or public transport data maintenance is an advantage. (i) To test and support on public transport enquiry systems; and (ii) To prepare public transport data. 13. Job Title: Ref. 013 Summer Intern (Traffic and Transport Survey Division 2) (a) Diploma / Degree in Computer Science or Civil Engineering; (b) Knowledge in MS Access, Visual Basic programming and C++ programming; and (c) Previous working experience in MS Access, Visual Basic programming and C++ programming is an advantage. (i) To enhance electronic-based inventory systems for computer, furniture and other general inventory for TTSD; and (ii) To assist in annual inventory check for TTSD. - Page 6 of 9 -

Job title: Ref. 014 Summer Intern (VALID & Licensing Division Licensing Unit 1) No. of Nominations: 25 (a) Major in Statistics or Business Administration is preferable; (b) Can speak Mandarin is an advantage; and (c) Availability for the whole survey period (i.e. 23 June July 2011) is a must. Remarks: (i) To conduct Waiting Time Survey and Public Opinion Survey at Licensing Offices; and (ii) To edit and code the completed questionnaires. Licensing Offices at United Centre, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, Kowloon East Government Offices and Shatin Government Offices. Employment period: 23 June 2011 to 19 July Job title: Ref. 015 Summer Intern (VALID & Licensing Division Licensing Unit 2) (a) Major in Computer Science, Statistics or Risk Management; (b) Proficiency in SAS to validate, clean, manipulate and combine data, enhance report and create graphs; and (c) Competency in Excel and Excel Macro. (i) To conduct Waiting Time Survey and Public Opinion Survey at Licensing Offices; (ii)to edit and code the completed questionnaires; (iii) To counter check data consistency of completed questionnaires; (iv) To manipulate data and produce survey results by using computer software such as SAS and Excel; and (v) To draft summary report for the Waiting Time and Public Opinion Survey. - Page 7 of 9 -

Job Title: Ref. 016 Summer Intern (Vehicle Inspection & Records Unit) (a) Undergraduates with Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; (b) Final Year students who will complete their programmes in the summer of 2012, or students who will be in Year 2 in Year and will complete their programmes in the summer of 2013 or henceforth, or equivalent; (c) Having studied courses related to law or computer studies; (d) Proficiency in using MS Office Access, Excel and Word and have knowledge of SQL in modifying Access database files. (e.g. modifying of input forms, queries, and reports etc.); and (e) Applicants with working experience are preferable. (i) To build up and update database on legal advice obtained on a particular subject; (ii) To update the internal instruction and guideline on a particular subject; and (iii) To update and modify the SQL of Access database files for handling cases related to found properties and disqualification of driving licence. Admiralty 17. Job Title: Ref. 017 Summer Intern (Vehicle Safety and Standards Division 1) (a) Major in Computer Science; and (b) Familiar with Visual Basic programming and Excel Macro. (i) To modify the existing Training Record Program to prepare course schedule; and (ii) To build up a program to sort out the remainder from the name list for course arrangement. Kowloon Bay 18. Job Title: Ref. 018 Summer Intern (Vehicle Safety and Standards Division 2) (a) Major in Computer Science; and (b) Familiar with Visual Basic programming and Excel Macro.
