I m starting to believe we are living in the desert. It has to start cooling down sooner than later I hope. We were able to get in a few rides last month. On 10 Oct, 5 members went on the Poker Run held by Cycle World of Daytona and FL1-H. Only complaint heard, it was hot! On 17 Oct, 7 of us went to Shrimps R Us in Welaka to try and get the Wanderer from FL1-V Jacksonville Beach. They had a great turn out. A total of five chapters and 75 people showed up to try and take the wanderer. The Lakeland Fireballs took it home with them. The Food was outstanding. We will be back one day for lunch. Had a nice turnout (21 members) at Frankies Wings & Things on 20 Oct. We are going to try and bring the Wanderer home on 1 Nov. I hope we get a break in the weather so we ll have nice ride over. 2 Dat s it from de Director! Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, 'How old was your husband?' '98', she replied. 'Two years older than me' 'So you're 96,' the undertaker commented.. She responded, 'Hardly worth going home, is it? I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank goodness, I still have my Florida driver's license. I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over. Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till the wrinkles fill out. It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

He asked, Do you play hockey, rugby, or any physical sport? No. I just play bridge with my wife. A beautiful female college student comes to a young professor s office. She glances down the hall, closes his door, kneels pleadingly, I would do anything to pass this exam. She leans closer to him, flips back her hair, gazes meaningfully into his eyes. I mean she whispers, I would do anything!!! He returns her gaze. Anything??? Yes Anything!!! His voice turns to a whisper. Would you.. study???.

4 Safety Educator Today when riding a motorcycle, you literally have to have eyes all around your head to be safe. We all know from experience that s not possible, but we try our best to know what s going on around us at all times when were out there riding. But we can stay safe out there if we follow the basic rules: Keep your motorcycle in tip top shape at all times, T-clock before every ride. Make sure your riding skills are also top notch, and make it a practice to keep those skills top notch with rider courses offered through GWRRA. Wear protective clothing when you ride, i.e. Helmets, gloves, jackets, riding boots, long pants, and something reflective to make you more noticeable out there on the roadway. Every precaution you take before you ride will make your ride safer and more enjoyable. You know you re a safe rider if you wear the right riding clothes and take the GWRRA courses. You will be confident in your skills to keep you and your passenger safe while out riding. But what about all the other things you have to be aware off? Let s start with impaired drivers. These are people who have been drinking alcohol or are on prescription medication, vision problems, or other handicaps that would hamper their skills out on the roadway. Unsafe vehicles: bad breaks, bald tires, cracked windshields, and unsecured loads that could fall onto the roadway. Cell phone and I- Pod use that take away and detract from their attention to the roadway and what s going on around them. With all the construction being done out on the roadways today, you have to be aware of unexpected lane changes, on site workers, construction equipment, and uneven lanes when roads have been resurfaced. I m sure you get the picture. It s a jungle out there! And take the drivers of vehicles out there that have no clue that we are even on the roadways. I touched on that subject a bit last month: Snowbirds who are not used to seeing motorcycles on the roadway because motorcycles are usually stored for the winter months by the time snowbirds get down here in sunny Florida for the winter. I could go on and on about the pitfalls of riding a motorcycle here in sunny Florida. I believe most of you are aware of all these pitfalls, but we still choose to get out there and ride our motorcycles. Why? Well it s in our blood. It goes back to the first motorcycle ride you ever took after someone offered to take you for a ride on the back of their motorcycle. You were scared, apprehensive, but reassured by the motorcycles owner that it would be fun and you would enjoy it. And sure enough you did enjoy it. Then maybe after a few more rides you were hooked. Now the next step was to find a school or DMV course you could take to actually learn how to ride. Some provided motorcycles for these courses, others didn t and you had to have your own motorcycle to learn or borrow a friend s. But you did it, you took the course, got your endorsement for motorcycles on your license, and now you were ready for your first bike. That s how it was for me. But that was forty years ago. I believe it was a safer time back then to have a motorcycle. There was less traffic, no cell phones and I-Pods. Yes we still had drunks behind the wheels of cars, and impaired drivers of all kinds. But we dealt with it back then as we do now. Only now we have to be better trained, more aware of our surroundings. But we still ride no matter what because it s in our blood to be out there. That immense feeling that overtook us the first time we ever rode a motorcycle, that feeling we just couldn t shake. The feeling we had to be out there too because of the freedom of the road, because we wanted to ride, we had to ride, it was in our BLOOD. I know it s time for me to be back on the road again. It s been nearly eight months now for me, and it will probably be another couple of months before I can ride again. Maybe I ll get an early Christmas present this year and be back riding my motorcycle because it s in my blood. Our riding season will be in full swing soon. The nicer riding weather is around the corner and we ll all want to be out there riding. Just keep in mind Safety first, T- Clock, riding gear, reflective clothing or lights so you can be seen, and have a great time riding. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and sombre. "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news" he said as he surveyed the worried faces. "The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, quite risky, and you'll have to pay for the brain yourselves." The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. At length, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?" The doctor quickly responded, "A female brain goes for $20,000. A male brain costs $50,000." The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked. A girl, unable to control her curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why does the male brain cost so much more?" The doctor smiled at her childish innocence and then said to the entire group, "It's a standard pricing procedure. We mark the female brains down because they're used."

9 HILLBILLY BIRTH Deep in the back woods of Letcher County, Kentucky, a hillbilly's wife went into labor in the middle of the night, and the doctor was called out to assist in the delivery. Since there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern, and said, "Here. You hold this high so I can see what I am doing!" Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world. Whoa, there," said the doctor. "Don't be in such a rush to put that lantern down. I think there's another one coming." Sure enough, within minutes he had delivered a baby girl. "Hold that lantern up; don't set it down. There's another one!" said the doctor. Within a few minutes, he had delivered a third baby. "No, don't be in a hurry to put down that lantern. It seems there's yet another one coming!" the doctor cried out. The redneck scratched his head in bewilderment, and asked the doctor, "You reckon it might be the light that's attracting them?"
