8 The solution HYBRID MARINE SYSTEMS offers a unique and newly developed Hybrid Propulsion for motor yachts. Our engineers and partners with extensive experience and roots in the Automotive, Marine and Aviation industry have developed this turn-key propulsion solution. The hybrid drive allows cost and fuel savings of 30%-50% compared to normal diesel propulsion. This green technology is also powerful, with top speeds of more than 30 knots, meets safety and reliability expectations from the Marine, Aviation and Automotive sectors and allows vibration free living on board, with or without a generator installed. 9 The solution The Hybrid System s mechanical configuration is comprised of a com bustion engine coupled to a combined electric motor/generator (the so called E-Unit), followed by a reduction gearbox, which is used to transfer mechanical power to the propeller shaft. The reduction gearbox, among other things, is also used to engage or disengage the propeller shaft which, in turn, allows the E-Unit to also be used as a generator for the board system and/or to charge the so called Hybrid Batteries. Lithium polymer batteries meeting highest automotive safety and reliability standards.
