2 AW Solution System Automationware Disruptive XYZ modular systems to solve effectively customer s requirement Customer talk we listen. The new AW solution system is offering the best modular system for advance handling requirement, landing on a very innovative approach vs. complex XYZ requirements. Today projects are frequently budget limited and solving specifics applications such fast Pick and Place or similar mechatronics application became a real challenge. The flexibility of our design and the long experience in electrical actuactors convey in a wider variety of alternatives, to better solve the applications without impacting dramatically on the overall budget of the project. SM slides are based on different sizes of Slides, ready to be combined in Cartesian Layout. Units are based on last technology of high performance Linear actuators with sizes from 32, 50 and 63, well adapted to support high loads, excellent speed and accelerations, offering very high level of accuracy and repeatability in positioning (+/- 0,01 mm). In addition, several customers are now moving from pneumatic configurations to electrical alternatives forcing several Motion Producers to use Linear Motors to reach high productivity and relative accuracy. Unfortunately, linear Motors systems are exposed to critical limitation when loaded; in cases of pick and place or XYZ applications even a simple gripper will have an impact on the overall performance in speed and productivity. AW, thanks to the long experience in linear actuators, is offering a unique opportunity of solving this complexity offering fast speed, unlimited load and best accuracy without compromising the cycle s productivity. In addition, the electrical solutions are maintenance free, so not exposed to regular calibrations as pneumatics systems. 2

Force 5 0 Load Vs Speed Users should really consider on their projects the top 5 elements mentioned on the radar graph: Max Speed this parameter may help to define the best productivity; however, we need to keep in mind that our solution is based on roll ball screws selected for very high speed combined with a high performance brushless motor. Max speed on Linear Motor may be heavily limited by Temperature in case of extreme cycles. Price Linear Motor Units SM Slides Units Accuracy Max Speed Vs Load Linear Motors solutions are very exposed in speed degradation in presence of loads or high temperatures. Even a simple gripper may become an element to be consider for the overall productivity cycle. SM slides are not impacted by loads; They keep speed almost flat in any condition. Accuracy Our solution is offering less than +/- 0,01 mm accuracy independently by speed or load. Accuracy may become a real issue vs. Cartesian combination, based on different technologies (Linear, Pneumatics or hydraulic) SM series offers the best modularity and homogeneity maintaining high accuracy. Price SM sildes are 30 to 40% less expensive than Motors Linear Configurations, offering not just equivalent benefits but also over performance in regards of max load, accuracy and system modularity. Our modules could operate on relative high temperature and they are isolated IP65 (or more if required) Force Configurations based SM series are relatively impacted by loads. Slides are based in 3 sizes to be configurable for several applications; life time to be over dozens of billions of cycles (with nominal loads) In Complex combination we are also offering the possibility of combining our SM slides with other AW products such Rotary system or Axis (Rotac Plus or ML Series). 4

Stepper Brushless Max Speed 10 On the following radar diagram, we like to help the selection considering the application. Stepper motors are a very valid selection if speed is not extreme. So low level of cycles per minutes may be the perfect fit for this motors. Force 5 0 Load Vs Speed Stepper motors may also operate with heavily loads ad they provide a very good torque. 14 SM Series Automationware System Drive and Sofware controls and Diagnostic AW is optimizing on the SM slides, using leading quality motors and servo drives with possibility of powerful motion control. The current industry trend, is preferring control command source close to the drive. Our solution offers excellent motion control ability, so external controller is almost eliminated. The system features a built-in electronic cam (E-Cam) function which provides an excellent solution for synchronized motion applications. We also supports various industrial communications protocols, such as CANopen, DMCNET, EtherCAT which offers higher performance and high speed communications and enable the drive to be integrate with other automation more effectively. The full-closed loop control, auto notch filter, vibration suppression and gantry control functions help to perform complex motions that require high precision and smooth operation. Setting SM slides using the software application EASY The Easy software application may be installed on a normal PC or Tablet, the connection to the system electronic device can be made via USB or serial interface. The 20-bit superior resolution encoder, which is essential for accurate positioning applications, is equipped as standard. In addition, the outstanding Capture and Compare functions for high-speed pulses offer the best support for stepless positioning. 14

15 The following figure shows an example of main menu display. The application offers up to 64 different positions, each may be reached with different speed and acceleration. Each position may also be defined in absolute or relative value according to the starting point. For each position (in succession or randomly), the Action command allows to simulate the automatic positioning of the actuator. Every time the command is executed, the actuator will move to the adequate position in accordance with the set-up indications; The display will also provide a graphical indication of each reached point. There are different ways to move the actuator, one possibility is to define and store a sequences based on the different productions formats (as indicated on the figure). When set-up is complete, the positions can be stored in the servo drive, and they can be recalled by the Digital I/O available on the Motor control system. Optionally, Easy may create a full monitoring system to store and trend cycles on the PC memory, mask testing and parameters diagnosostic may be applied to prevent any eventual malfunctions in operation.
