16 Rail Gap Adjuster Item code: Self contained, hydraulically operated, the unit is capable of either pushing or pulling rail ends with a force of up to 300Kn. The unit grips the head of the rail, leaving access to remove fishplates, and replace insulating end posts, whilst still holding any tension or compression present in the rail. 17 Permaquip HSM Stressor Unit Item code: Various Stressing Equipment Half hydraulic stressing kits are available for hire with lightweight stressor powerpacks. They provide control for accurate stressing of CWR in all weather conditions and are available with insulated tie rods and extended rods for multiple welding. The Pump is subject to a 12 monthly load test or record of thorough examination. Double packs can only operate one half set of stressing at a time. The couplings fitted are of a quick release screw fit type. This differs from the cold expansion couplers to remove any possibility of the cold expansion power pack, which is rated at a higher pressure rating (10,000psi) being used to power the stressing kit. 617

36 Peltor DECT-Com II Wireless Intercom System The Peltor DECT-Com II is a wireless intercom system, operating on the 1.8GHz DECTfrequencies. The products in the Peltor DECT-Com II family offer simple and efficient wireless duplex communication with up to 9 active users talking in full conference and additionally up to 40 listeners with possibility to quick break in to the conference. 39 Geismar MP12 grinder Cutting and Grinding Equipment The Geismar MP12 is Specifically designed for re-profiling of railheads after thermite welding. In the upright position, the machine can grind the top surface of the rail, and in the inclined position grind the thickness of the head to recondition the railhead. 58 Pin Brazing Unit BB3 The portable BB3 is suitable for all types of installation and maintenance programmes. The pin brazing process of the unit is electronically controlled to provide total consistency and is pre-programmed to three settings. The relevant setting is shown on each pack of brazing pins. When the correct setting is selected on the control panel, the process is automatically timed to provide an optimum brazed connection. If required, it is also possible to use brazing pins with a fuse wire. The high power batteries can easily be recharged from a mains supply. 59 Cold Bolt Expansion and Huck Bolt About Cold Expansion Railway track is continually subjected to high cyclic tensile loads generated by the passage of rolling stock over joints. Flexing and displacement of rails at bolted joints, combine to induce high tensile loads at the bolt hole which often generates fatigue cracks. If left undetected, these fatigue induced cracks can lead to fractures which in extreme cases could cause train derailment. The cracking of rail-end bolt holes has been a major concern for years and a cause of premature rail replacement, imposition of speed restrictions and is a significant factor in rail inspection and maintenance costs. Increased rolling stock loads and heavier rail traffic has made it even more essential to eliminate fatigue cracks and prevent potential costly derailments. Fatigue Technology s (FTI) RailTec System substantially increases the life of bolted rail by shielding bolt holes from the stresses that cause cracks and failure.
