4 Preface The 2nd (original German) edition of the "Supplementary Agreements for the Supply of High-Voltage Electric Motors for Use in Power Plants (ZLM)" was published in In the light of ongoing technical development in recent years and changes made to the Standardsdefinitions of certain concepts in the course of the harmonisation of the VDE the VDEW Working Committee on "Generators and Motors" considered it advisable to revise the ZLM. At the same time, some of the provisions of the 1982 edition were formulated more precisely and/or supplemented. This concerns in particular the motor data that are of importance to electronic protection, the start-up characteristics, and the tan â values for windings that have been cured in the stator. The ZLM is not a specification within the meaning of the VDE standards but rather a selection of technical data and equipment details which the operators of power plants may require the suppliers of high-voltage motors to provide further to the requirements of the VDE Standards.
