1 Thank you for purchasing the Fantom imax40d. This manual is written assuming that you are already familiar with your icharger s functions. If you are not familiar with the functions of your icharger, please review your icharger instruction manual. STEP 1 Make all connections as shown. The wires coming from the imax40d are marked Discharge Ports and Power Supply. Make sure these connections are made correctly. Incorrect connections will cause permanent damage to your imax40d which is not covered under warranty. STEP 2 Enter Manage mode and select Discharge from the menu options.

2 STEP 3 Next to Regenerative Mode, select To channel. STEP 4 Select Set. STEP 5 Select Resistance or bulbs.

3 STEP 6 Set the Voltage Limit to 24V. STEP 7 Set the Current Limit to the amperage that you want to discharge your battery. The max current available with the 308 DUO is 30 amps. The max current available with the 408 DUO and 4010 DUO is 40 amps. The imax40d is not compatible with the X6 icharger at this time. Your imax40d is capable of a maximum of 500 watts of power. To understand the maximum amperage that you can set the Current Limiter, here is a brief explanation of how to calculate your max setting. Power (watts) = Voltage x Current. Using a 1S battery as an example, the max voltage of a 1S LiPo is 4.2 volts. Using the 408 DUO as the charger, the max discharge current is 40 amps. 4.2V x 40A = 168 Watts. Using a 2S LiPo as an example, the max voltage is 8.4 volts. 8.4V x 40A = 336 Watts. As you can see, discharging a 1S or 2S LiPo, with the Current Limit set to the maximum setting, will not exceed the 500 Watt capability of the imax40d. For 3S and 4S LiPo batteries, calculate your maximum Current Limiter setting use the following calculation: Power divided by Voltage = Current. Using a 3S battery as an example, 500W / 12.6V = 39.6A, so the maximum you can set your Current Limiter on a 3S LiPo is 39.6A. Using a 4S battery as an example, 500W / 16.8V = 29.7A, so the maximum you can set your Current Limiter on a 4S LiPo is 29.7A.

4 STEP 8 Select Back. STEP 9 Select Back again. STEP 10 Select Save. Your imax40d is now ready to use. IMPORTANT: Never leave a battery fully discharged. When you are done using your batteries for the day, ALWAYS use the Storage mode to recharge your batteries to the proper storage voltage. Failure to properly store your batteries is dangerous and will cause puffing, permanent damage to your batteries, and possible fire and/or explosion.
