3 President of India presents Rajbhasha Awards on the occasion of Hindi Diwas Hindi day is being celebrated across the country today. It was on this day in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country. On the occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind gave away the Rajbhasha awards at a function in New Delhi. The Rajbhasha awards were instituted by the Department of Official Language of Home Ministry to recognize the excellent contribution of Ministries, Departments and Nationalized Banks to promote Hindi. Speaking on the occasion, the President appealed to the countrymen to adopt Hindi with a great zeal saying that the language can bind the whole world into one thread. He also suggested to the doctors to prescribe the names of medicines in Hindi as it will result in greater interaction between doctors and patients. The President said, it is important that Hindi speaking people respect the non-hindi people and their languages. He also launched the LILA Mobile App in the presence of Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Shri Hansraj Gagaram Ahir and Shri Kiran Rijiju, Ministers of State for Home Affairs. This app will help people to learn the language of Hindi online. Hindi is also know as Rajbhasha of the country

4 Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation Swachhta Hi Seva Starting tomorrow, the whole country will take up sanitation initiatives, for over 15 days, in an unprecedented campaign to highlight, once again, the jan aandolan that is the Swachh Bharat Mission. The Prime Minister has named the nation-wide sanitation campaign from 15 th September to 2 nd October 2017 as Swachhta Hi Seva. Objective: to mobilise people and reinforce the Jan Aandolan The campaign is scheduled to be launched by President of India on the 15 th of September 2017 from village Ishwarigunj in Kanpur that has attained the status of open free defecation status. The Ministry has created a special portal and web page on MyGov.in facilitating people to upload pre and post intervention photos of their shramdaan and other interventions.

5 India-Japan Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe today jointly laid the foundation stone of the country's first bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The train will cover a distance of over 500 kilometres in around two hours. The project is expected to be completed by Japan has extended a soft loan for the project. The two leaders also laid the foundation stone of a dedicated High Speed Rail Training Institute for the bullet train to be established inside the existing campus for the National Academy of Indian Railways at Vadodara. 6 The Japan Prime Minister called this historic moment as a confluence of the Indian ocean with Pacific Ocean and vowed for developing a new world order based on these oceans. He said, strong India is in the interest of Japan likewise a Strong Japan is in the interest of India.

7 India and Japan have signed 15 agreements for enhancing bilateral cooperation in several key areas including investment promotion, civil aviation, and science and technology. The agreements were signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe after 12th annual summit talks in Gandhinagar. The two leaders also reviewed the entire spectrum of bilteral cooperation. After the talks, Mr Modi said, Indo-Japan ties are not limited to bilateral or regional spheres. He said, the two countries also have close cooperation on key global issues. The Prime Minister informed that Japan has invested 4.7 billion US dollars in India during , 80 percent higher than last year. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said, the two sides have agreed upon a mutual investment support road map.

10 The government s intent to convert all of India s vehicles to electric has now been known for a year. Several auto-companies have however been in denial mode. A recent tender by a public-sector company to procure some 10,000 electric cars and a programme to launch 50,000 electric 3-wheelers and 10,000 buses have suddenly shaken them. They are crying foul and creating a hysteria that the Electric Vehicles (EVs) will have huge socio-economic costs for the country and will contribute to loss of millions of jobs in India.

11 The energy efficiency of an internal combustion engine using petrol (or diesel) is between 16-21%; that of electric motors is above 90%. As per National Green Tribunal, one diesel vehicle causes pollution equal to 24 petrol vehicles and 40 CNG vehicles. A petrol car has over 2,000 moving parts, whereas EVs have some 25, making it far-more reliable. The prices of batteries are falling rapidly a 75%-drop in last six years. In the next five-six years, an electric vehicle with acceptable range will cost less than a petrol vehicle, and will have five-six times lower running cost. Sheer economics will make Indians prefer and purchase EVs.

12 We cant wait for other countries to lead If we do, we will have to import technologies Our wait may collapse out auto industry This may lead to huge job losses. We have to innovate fast and take lead in at least some aspect of technologies. We have to start making motors, drives, batteries, battery-cells, chargers and control systems for EVs today. We have to carry out lithium battery recycling and make electric powersteering, brakes, air-conditioners and every subsystem required to further drive efficiencies in entire supply chain for small as well as large electric vehicles. India has to try out innovative techniques to overcome range anxiety, including battery-swapping and top-up charging and find solutions most suitable for our conditions.

13 Many believe that India can only follow and not lead. A new generation of leadership has emerged in industry, in academia and amongst the youngsters and start-ups, who believe that India can lead; and they are working towards India becoming a fully-ev nation by 2030 and making India a leader in EVs, in spite of all the fears and negativity around. They are the future of India.

14 Ministry of External Affairs India launches Operation Insaniyat to help Bangladesh tackle Rohingya refugee crisis. India has started Operation Insaniyat to provide assistance to Bangladesh in response to the humanitarian crisis being faced on account of the large influx of Rohingya refugees into that country from Myanmar. The External Affairs Ministry in a statement today said, relief material consisting of food items and mosquito nets will be provided to the affected people. The relief material will be delivered in multiple consignments, and the first tranche will be brought to Chittagong by an Indian Air Force plane today. The Ministry said, India has always responded readily and swiftly to any crisis in Bangladesh, in view of the close ties of friendship between the people of the two countries. It said, India stands ready to provide any assistance required by Bangladesh in this hour of need.

15 Paris will host 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Both cities wanted to host the 2024 event, before Los Angeles agreed to wait an extra four years after the IOC made guarantees on funding. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said the votes for both cities were unanimous. Paris and Los Angeles had been the only two candidates for the 2024 Games after Hamburg, Rome and Budapest withdrew from the race.
