2 At Adapted Vehicle Hire, we see ourselves as more than just a vehicle rental company. We provide a service to our customers, enabling them to get back on the road after an accident, have the freedom to take a holiday or just enable them to continue with their lives. This freedom is the end product, which is made possible by the vehicles that we hire. We are proud to be part of the disabled community we take part in events, open days and support shows, as well as having a dedicated following on Twitter, Facebook and a variety of other social networking sites. A key part of the AVH package is the vehicles and vehicle adaptations that we offer. At Adapted Vehicle Hire, we have our own workshop with trained staff that are able to adjust our hire vehicles to meet the needs of our customers. We supply to the general public, insurance industry, credit hire, major daily rental companies, accident repair centres and Motability. So should you require an adapted or wheelchair accessible vehicle, we can supply! Nationwide delivery can be provided using our own driver fleet and nationwide branches.

4 Vehicle Adaptations We fit many different types of adaptations to our vehicles, the most common of which are listed on the next two pages. Single lever push pull hand controls For people who cannot use the standard pedals on the floor of the car to propel and stop the vehicle, single lever push pull hand controls allow a the vehicle to be driven with just the person s hands. Wheelchair Top box Allows the driver of the vehicle to automatically stow his/her manual wheelchair into the roof mounted topbox from the driver s seat. Indicator Crossover Bar A fitted bar to the existing indicator position to bring it across to the other side of the steering wheel for ease of use by the driver. Left Foot Accelerator For drivers who only have the use of their left leg. We have a flip style accelerator fitted on the left hand side of the brake pedal that flips down when required. As it flips down the right hand accelerator flips up out of the way and likewise when the car is to be driven by someone who does not require the left foot accelerator simply flip down the right hand one and the left hand disappears upwards. Infrared Auxiliary controls An invaluable tool for people with limited upper body mobility. This device controls all the auxiliary functions in a vehicle such as indicators, wipers and horn and can be controlled by the same hand that turns the steering wheel, with all the controls mounted for use by the thumb.

5 Vehicle Adaptations Easy Hand brake Release This simple but effective mechanism attaches to the parking brake to bring the operating handle nearer to the driver and to allow the driver to operate the parking brake with one easy action requiring minimal dexterity in the hand or fingers. Pedal Extensions Our pedal extensions bolt onto the existing pedals bringing them closer to the driver s seat. Once fitted, they allow the driver to sit further back in their seat, which in turn makes driving safer. Our pedal extensions are tailor made to the individual client and the vehicle. Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Conversions allow wheelchair users to be loaded directly in the rear of the vehicle without being transferred from their wheelchair. We run a variety of vehicles from Renault Kangoos and Fiat Doblos through to VW Transporters and Renault Masters all converted by Motability accredited converters. These vehicles have either a folding ramp on the rear or a lift for access, together with a full set of wheelchair and passenger tie-down straps. Some of our vehicles also have lowering rear suspension to decrease the angle whilst loading the wheelchair user Wheelchair Accessible Minibuses These larger vehicles have up to two wheelchair positions and a variety of other seating combinations. Access is via a rear tail lift and they come fitted with handrails and access steps throughout.

6 Other Services Available Car and Driver Service Adapted Vehicle Hire is pleased to announce we now provide a Car and Driver service. A range of wheelchair accessible vehicles can now be provided with a driver perfect for shorter one way journeys such as airport transfers or for a visit or appointment. Adaptation Installation, Service & Repair AVH are partnered with Motability for the fitment of adaptations to vehicles. We have our own large workshop premises based in West Drayton, Greater London. We work on behalf of Motability, so if you are ordering a new vehicle through a local dealer on the Motability scheme and you require adaptations to be fitted, the dealer can then arrange with us to have the work completed in a timely manner. If you already have an adaptation fitted and you require it to be serviced or repaired, you can contact AVH and we will book your vehicle in for the work to be carried out. If you need an adapted replacement vehicle whilst yours is being repaired then this can be arranged through us too for your one stop shop. 7 Other Services Available MID-LONG TERM HIRE For people who require a vehicle indefinitely but do not wish to make the commitment of an outright purchase, AVH will supply a suitable vehicle at a competitive rate for a minimum of 28 days. Once the vehicle is no longer required, we will simply pick up with no fuss and no penalties. Providing a flexible, hassle-free and competitve alternative to vehicle ownership. This unique portal is a guide for disabled motorists and carers on driving with a disability and staying independent on the roads. For most of us, driving is about so much more than simply being able to operate a car. It allows us to lead an independent life, helping us to travel to work, go to school or university, access local services, visit tourist attractions, take holidays and spend time with loved ones. I-drive aims to provide people with a physical disability through illness or injury, with information and support to help them overcome any perceived barriers to driving independence and enjoy the quality of life that comes with staying mobile.
