Welcome to Nottingham s tram network
Welcome to Nottingham s tram network Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has been serving the north of the city for over 12 years. We ve carried over a hundred million people with our popularity growing over recent years thanks to more frequent trams, great value tickets and most importantly; a reliable service. Last year we ran over 99% of our trips on time, our customers depend on us for consistent journey times something that cars and buses struggle to achieve due to ever changing road conditions. With the addition of 17.5km of new track and 28 new stops, Nottingham s tram line is now a network. We have two cross city routes from Toton, Beeston and the QMC to Bulwell and Hucknall and from Clifton and Wilford to Phoenix Park. Both routes serve all stops across the city centre: Nottingham Station, Lace Market, Old Market Square, Royal Centre and Nottingham Trent University. Inside this guide you will find information on journey times, frequencies, fares and tickets as well as accessibility and safety. But if you need any more help with any questions or comments, please don t hesitate to get in touch. CALL US: info@thetram.net CALL IN: NET Travel Centre, 4 King Street, Nottingham. Just off the Old Market Square
Using the tram Trams run from every 7 minutes on each line throughout the day so simply turn up and go! The electronic display at the tram stop will show you when the next trams will arrive. Buy your tickets from the ticket machines or touch on your pass or smartcard at the validators before you board the tram. Please retain your ticket while travelling and when at the tram stop - it may be checked at any time. 5 All our trams are 100% low floor 6 Please don t board whilst the with extra space for wheelchairs and buggies through their double doors. We also have priority seats for those less able to stand. doors are closing. Before the tram moves away, please hold on tight - especially if you re standing up. Enjoy the journey and we ll get you there as quickly as we can. When you want to get off at the next stop, just push the yellow request stop button.

Park&Ride We now have 7 park & ride sites with over 5000 FREE parking spaces Open 7 days a week, our sites are cleaned daily and patrolled by staff as well as monitored by CCTV. Park Mark approval means those sites have met the national standard for UK car parks that have low crime and measures in place to ensure the safety of people and vehicles. There are disabled and parent & child spaces close to tram stops and some sites have cycle hubs for secure cycle storage. 9 Accessibility on the tram Nottingham Express Transit was first opened in 2004 and was the first tramway to be fully accessible, meeting the Equality Act 2010 guidelines. We believe that everyone should be able to travel around Nottingham and will continue to work hard to make our system accessible for as many individuals as we can. We are committed to continually improving accessibility on the tram network for all our customers. We regularly review our facilities so we stay at theforefront of the law and Equality Act 2010 Guidelines. Our Network features: All trams are 100% low floor On board all trams are two bays for wheel chairs and mobility scooters There are six priority seats on all trams for those less able to stand Visual and audible next stop announcements on all trams Audible warning sound when doors are opening or closing Trams stops have a consistent layout and tactile paving surfaces Customer help points are at all tram stops and onboard trams CCTV on all trams and at all tram stops Over 200 disabled parking spaces at 7 Park & Ride sites An Access Guide is available in large print and braille by calling or call in to the NET Travel Centre at 4 King Street, Nottingham. Just off the Old Market Square.
QMC by tram The Queens Medical Centre is the only hospital in the UK with a direct link to a tram network. Our stop is conveniently located between the South Block and Treatment Centre. The bus stop close by also connects the Medilink bus service to other parts of the hospital site and the City Hospital. Trams running from every 7 minutes Just 15 minutes from the City Centre Cross-City trams direct from Hucknall Over 5000 FREE Park & Ride spaces 100% easy access trams Dedicated wheelchair spaces Glossy Brochurev12.indd 13 17/05/ :53:36
Safety on the tram Pedestrians stop, look and listen! Tracks are level with the road surface to ensure road traffic and pedestrians can cross safely. Although trams can easily be seen, they make little noise, so you may not always hear them approaching. Listen out for the warning bell or horn. Take extra care when you are near the tracks, especially if you are using headphones, or on a mobile phone. Always look both ways before you cross using the dedicated crossing points whenever possible and stand well clear of the tram s path. Make sure you are not hidden from view when crossing. Drivers be aware! Where possible, avoid driving directly on the tracks, they contain metal rails that can become slippery when wet and cause motorists to skid. Trams cannot manoeuvre away from other traffic so do not stop or park where a vehicle would get in the way of the tram. Obstruction of the tram s path could lead to your vehicle being towed away. Always give way to trams when pulling away from stops. Keep an eye out for cyclists, motorbikes and pedestrians. Do not enter a road or crossing intended only for trams. These are indicated by signs, road markings and a different road surface. Overhead Wires do not touch! Overhead power wires are always live and are suspended from high masts 5.8 metres above the tracks. All of NET s trams are powered at 750 volts DC through these overhead wires. The wires only pose a danger when touched, or if something is placed against them. Never climb on anything which is close to the overhead power lines, such as nearby trees and never dangle anything near to the cables, or place anything near them such as a ladder.
