3 Introduction Requirements for energy metering represent one of the least clearly understood issues affecting building services in new and existing premises. As a result many people have failed to meet mandatory requirements while others have adopted unnecessarily complex and costly solutions. Sometimes it is possible to install a relatively simple, cost-effective metering system that is future-proofed to allow for more advanced automatic metering and targeting (AM&T) systems to be introduced at a later stage. Two important legislative developments have been enacted in Australia recently. The first was the introduction in the Building Code of Australia 010 of Part J8.3 mandating the provision of sub-metering in Buildings other than Dwellings aimed at encouraging an effective sub-metering strategy. A building with a floor area of more than,500 m must have the facility to record individually the energy consumption of air-conditioning plant including, where appropriate, heating plant, cooling plant and air handling fans artificial lighting appliance power central hot water supply internal transport devices including lifts, escalators and travelators other ancillary plant The second is the introduction of the Commercial Building Disclosure program established by the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 010. Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) is a national program designed to improve the energy efficiency of Australia s large office buildings. Under the program, from 1 November 010 most sellers or leases of office space of,000 square metres or more will be required to obtain and disclose an up-to-date energy efficiency rating. Certain exceptions and exemptions apply. There is a transition period for the first year of the program where a valid National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) Energy base or whole building rating can be disclosed. From 1 November 011 a full Building Energy Efficiency Certificate (BEEC) will need to be disclosed. BEECs are valid for 1 months, must be publicly accessible on the online Building Energy Efficiency Register, and include a NABERS Energy star rating for the building an assessment of tenancy lighting in the area of the building that is being sold or leased general energy efficiency guidance Environmental Rating Tools NABERS is a performance-based rating system for existing buildings. NABERS rates a building on the basis of its measured operational impacts on the environment, and provides a simple indication of how a building owner or tenant is managing these environmental impacts compared with their peers and neighbours. Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings. The ratings tools cover a number of categories that assess the environmental impact that is a direct consequence of a projects site selection, design, construction and maintenance. Under the Energy category (Ene), credit points are available where sub-metering is provided for all substantive energy uses within the building or tenancy, and where there is an effective mechanism for monitoring energy consumption from all energy sub-meters. iautomation.com.au

It will also collect driving factor details such as production quantities and weather data and merge this with your metered energy consumption information.
